Knockfree was a small settlement in western Meath, Ireland.
History[edit | edit source]
In the late 9th century, the Viking jarlskona Eivor Varinsdottir visited Knockfree to meet with Flann Sinna to discuss the next stages of winning over the land of Ireland. From their meeting, she gained an alliance with the Southern Army.[1] Later, Eivor revisited the place to meet with her cousin Bárid mac Ímair, King of Dublin, and Flann to discuss their strategy to divide Connacht and Ulster. Their aim was to conquer Cashelore, but its defenses were apparently impenetrable until Eivor volunteered to open its gate. Setting their plans, Flann and Bárid agreed as Eivor set to lower Cashelore's doors.[2]
Throughout her journey, Eivor agreed to help Azar build Dublin's trade connections and decided to find and rebuild any of Ireland's trade post.[3] After securing the Drumlish, Eivor investigated Knockfree, found the deed, and then rebuilt the Drumlish trading post.[4]
Probing the area, Eivor also discovered a chest behind a destructible wall in a torn-down tower and claimed a tungsten ingot.[5]
