This does not seem to be the wolf pup you find nor the one in the cage (as that's one and the same and Fenrir). Garm is mentioned either way, as Tyr is named master of kennels by Freyja, Tyr probably has several pets. Is Hellheim the same as our article "Underworld"?

Garmr, or Garm, was a wolf in Norse mythology which was turned into the personal hound of Hel, queen of Niflheimr.

Mythology[edit | edit source]

Garm was the guardian of the gate to Helheim.[1]

Legacy[edit | edit source]

During the 870s, the Eivor Varinsdottir of the Raven Clan experienced visions facilitated by the resident volva influenced by the genetic memories of Havi and her own preconceived notions about Norse mythology. In these visions Havi encountered a letter to Týr from Freyja where she mentioned his wolf Garm getting loose in her garden, eating some unique plants that were not available elsewhere, and partially destroying the garden in the process. She threatened to kill the wolf if she found it anywhere near the garden again.[2]

In Eivor's visions of Odin's time in Niflheim, the Æsir lord fought his way through the realm and Helheim's draugr warriors to the Róthásæt, where he confronted Hel. With Hel, Garmr joined his master and fought against Havi. Although dying against Havi, Garmr was revived multiple times throughout the fight. Nevertheless, Hel and Garmr lost against Havi, who was told the truth of Baldr's survival through his consciousness. After being sent to talk with Baldr, Hel physically teleported Havi back to his camp while she and Garmr recuperated from the fight.[3]
