The Fairy Pools are a series of natural pools and waterfalls in the southern part of Scotland's Isle of Skye.

In the 9th century, the Viking Eivor Varinsdottir visited the Fairy Pools to locate one of the triangular shards for the pedestal in the Cave of Gold. While investigating, Eivor found an ancient stele behind the waterfall with its shard missing. Leaving the area, she saw an old woman arrive in the middle of the pools with a bow and a pack of wolves.[1]
Speaking with the old woman, Eivor was told to be a sacrifice, as the "fairies" had told the woman to commit sacrifices to please them. Realizing the woman was in possession of the shard, Eivor acted on her best interests and retrieved the artifact from the woman before leaving the area promptly.[1]
