Doubloon was Spanish coinage the value of which was based on its gold content.
History[edit | edit source]
In 18th century, the doubloon was used in the Caribbean as a trade currency.[1] It was also what one Spanish Treasure Fleet was laden with as the pirates under Edward Thatch and British forces commanded by Captain Blount fought to claim it.[2]
In 1747, Haytham Kenway used a doubloon within a scarf to kill Juan Vedomir.[3]
