Akatos was a hunter who lived near the Linou Farm in Elis, Greece with his daughter Myrto.

Biography[edit | edit source]

Having grown up as the leading provider of the village, Akatos became worried after he injured himself, and could no longer hunt and thus do his part for the village. Myrto, his daughter, attempted to prove herself to him, but as the girl didn't return within reasonable time, Akatos merely grew more worried.[1]

However, the Spartan misthios Kassandra was visiting the village and learned of Akatos' anxiety from the priestess Hexione. Akatos poured out his heart to the misthios, as she was venerated in the village. Promising to help the man, Kassandra saved his daughter as well as provided the meat required.[1]

Akatos' ease of mind didn't last long, though, as Myrto fell ill after tasting the feast meant for Kassandra. Akatos begged the misthios to save the girl, and eventually, Kassandra managed to do so.[2]
