A view of the agora of Kydonia

The Agora was the central marketplace of Kydonia, Messara, in the 5th century BCE.

History[edit | edit source]

During the Peloponnesian War, the city became the hotspot of inflamed relations between the local military and the merchants. A textile merchant asked the Spartan misthios Kassandra to help with the matter, and the agora was one of the locations he pointed her to.[1]

In the agora, Kassandra witnessed a crowd attacking a woman and her child, and proceeded to intervene.[1]
