Caïus Fulvus Vultur (died 259 CE) was a Roman Senator during the 3rd century. He was also secretly a member of the Order of the Ancients who sought the Isu artifact known as the Ankh.

Biography[edit | edit source]

In 259 CE, Vultur traveled to Lugdunum to meet with his old friend Lucius, who was secretly a Hidden One. Lucius' son Aquilus arrived during Vultur's visit, with the Ankh concealed on his person. After being introduced to Aquilus, Vultur had dinner with the family and was allowed to rest at their villa.[1]

The next day, the Senator waited for Aquilus to depart the villa to interrogate Bishop Faustinus, an accomplice of Vultur. Once he knew the Hidden One was gone, Vultur made his move and confronted Lucius, interrogating him about the Ankh, which Aquilus had given to his father for safekeeping. Ultimately, Vultur killed Lucius when the latter refused to divulge information about the Ankh, and escaped with the artifact, mortally wounding the servant Weke in the process.[1]

Once he had learned of these events, Aquilus sought out Vultur in Rome, where the traitor lived. He infiltrated the Senator's house, and after a short skirmish, managed to enter Vultur's room with the aid of one of his guards. After Vultur attempted to ambush the Hidden One with a spear and failed, he asked for mercy and offered to tell Aquilus about the history of the Ankh. The Hidden One agreed, but afterwards Vultur attacked him with the Ankh, refusing to renounce the artifact; Aquilus killed him and recovered the Ankh.[2]
