The Daisen-ryō Kofun, also known as the Old Kofun, was a kofun east of Sakai in Izumi Settsu, Japan. In the late 16th century, the Kakushiba ikki built a safehouse within the tomb for the Imperial Regalia, entrusted to them by Emperor Go-Nara.

By 1560, the Kakushiba ikki led by Tsuyu and her mentor Alvaro Catarribera had built a secret base within the kofun to house the Imperial Regalia.[1] After an attack on Iga occurred,[2][3] Tsuyu and Catarribera learned the Templars were becoming impatient and thus they planned to investigate bases in Nagasaki and Mikawa. Soon, they were discovered by Momochi Sandayu's student and shinobi Hattori Hanzō, who offered his help to investigate Mikawa, his home region. Seeing an opportunity, Catarribera offered Hanzō to join their ikki, to which he agreed. Given a hidden blade, Hanzō accepted the task to find and to gather information on the Templars before he left for his home.[1]
However, after some time, Hanzō unknowingly revealed the location to a buyer, who belonged to the Shinbakufu, a group led by deposed shogun Ashikaga Yoshiaki. As a result, the Shinbakufu attacked the kofun, leading to the near decimation of the league and two of the Imperial Regalia being taken. With Tsuyu, Hanzō, and Momochi Sandayu as the only survivors, Tsuyu entrusted the last regalia to her husband Fujibayashi Nagato while she left to find the other.[4]

Searching the tomb further, Naoe also found an Assassin's outfit and an old journal belonging to Catarribera.[5]
