Defamation was a virtual representation of one of Jacob Frye and Evie Frye's genetic memories, relived by a Helix initiate through the Helix Navigator.
Description[edit | edit source]
Jacob or Evie met with the biologist Charles Darwin, who asked them to fetch a newspaper for him.
Dialogue[edit | edit source]
One of the Frye twins visited Charles Darwin.
- Darwin: My young friend! Today's papers carry a rebuttal of Mr. Owen's slanderous and ignorant remarks about my work. However, I'm feeling quite like a fossil today. Would you be a dear and get me a copy of the newspaper?
Jacob or Evie headed to the street vendor, who was being harassed by a member of the Blighters.
- Vendor: Take whatever you want! Help me!
Jacob or Evie intervened.
- Jacob: Hey! you!
- Evie: Stop that!

After a lengthy chase through the streets of London, during which they encountered several obstructions, Jacob or Evie managed to tackle the thug, simultaneously saving him from an oncoming train.
- Thug: You... You saved my life!
- Jacob: Yes. Now here's a question for you: Why would you attack a newsboy?
- Thug: A man paid me and my mates to force newsboys to display this leaflet! Here! Take the bloody thing and leave me alone!
- Jacob: This spells trouble for Mr. Darwin.
Evie's response would be slightly different.
- Thug: You... You saved my life!
- Evie: Correct... Now tell me: why have you attacked the newsboy?
- Thug: A man paid me and my mates to force newsboys to display this leaflet! Here! Take the bloody thing and leave me alone!
- Evie: Mr. Darwin will want to hear about this...
Outcome[edit | edit source]
Jacob or Evie discovered evidence of a slanderous campaign being orchestrated against Darwin.
Behind the scenes[edit | edit source]
Jacob and Evie cannot tackle the thug before he is about to be hit by the train even if they manage to reach within tackling distance. Normally, both characters should be too slow to catch the thug before he reaches the railroad tracks, but the player may intercept him if they knows the route the target means to take.
