Thank you for the advice! There are many categories for Unity, so it can get confusing sometimes. I will definitely take your advice and improve my work. [[User:Saving Private Ryan|Saving Private Ryan]] ([[User talk:Saving Private Ryan|talk]]) 17:45, November 30, 2014 (UTC)

Hey Crook......

What is the difference between the real life liberation and the in-game liberation???
:As far as I know, we're all fine. Thanks, man :) {{User:Crookandcharlatan/sig}} 16:49, March 22, 2016 (UTC)

And in which of the two does it say that you (player) purchased it from abstergo??
==De la Serre residences==
Hi Crook, Wondering if you could clear this up, or point me towards someone who can:<br />In the ACU novel, Élise says her family has 2 estates - one in Versailles (where the game starts), and one in Paris, specifically in the Île Saint-Louis subdistrict of Île de la Cité. The Paris villa is sacked after the Bastille is stormed, resulting in Élise guarding the house for 11 days to stop anymore ransackers. However, when Arno briefly visits the estate in the ''Imprisoned'' and ''Templar Ambush'' cutscenes (end & beginning parts, respectively), the map reveals it actually is in the Temple subdistrict of Le Marais. Is this a canon screw-up, or do the La Serres have '''three''' estates? Confused... --[[User:Darman36|Darman]] ([[User talk:Darman36|talk]]) 00:51, April 1, 2016 (UTC)

:Jayam, I'm going to reiterate what Sima said. It's getting a tad annoying answering your questions when you can find the answers yourself by reading the relevant pages.
:Sounds like an inconsistency to me - is the Paris villa described in the novel explicitly identified as the place where Arno and Elise meet after the former escapes from the Bastille? If it is, we can consider an inconsistency and ignore the novel (since game canon trumps novel canon). {{User:Crookandcharlatan/sig}} 10:05, April 1, 2016 (UTC)

:"In-game Liberation" is the Abstergo entertainment product, "real life Liberation" is ''Assassin's Creed III: Liberation'', the Ubisoft game originally released on PS Vita and then ported to PS3, Xbox360 and PC. Aside from that, there are no real differences - one exists inside a fictional universe, the other exists in the real world. {{User:Crookandcharlatan/sig}} 16:50, December 4, 2014 (UTC)
::Yep, and I quote: "''Christian was located [...] far away from our villa on the Île Saint-Louis.''" (p 33); "''I was running'' [away from the Bastille] ''by now, [...] ready to face anyone who stood between me and my chateau.''" (p 281), leading to<blockquote>''It was daylight when they came [...] I reached for the pistol, pulled back the hammer and raised it. [A] figure crossed the threshold and came into the gloom of my home "Élise," he said [...] "That's some welcome."'' – p 297</blockquote>

==Frontier==
==Trade Table==
Crook, after [[Lessons and Revelations]] when you're in freeroam, I assume you can't just leg it to the other end of the Homestead and try heading for the Frontier, right? Is a path even there, or a memory wall pops up to threaten you with desync like a club bouncer? --<span style="text-shadow: black 1px 2px 3px;">[[User:Kainzorus Prime|<font color="#7575DB" face="OCR A" size="4">Kainzorus Prime</font>]] [[Special:Contributions/Kainzorus Prime|<font color="#7575DB" size="6">⚜</font>]] [[User talk:Kainzorus Prime|<font color="#4C99A6">Walkie-talkie</font>]]</span> 21:24, December 5, 2014 (UTC)
Hi Crook, Darman.<br />I'm working on [[Trade objects]] & I see it needs a Revamp. I think I made a better chart in [[User:Darman36/Sandbox|my Sandbox]], styled after the Weapons charts. If I were to put it in the page, would it be enough to remove the Revamp? I can't seem to add the descriptions in the chart without it looking messy. --[[User:Darman36|Darman]] ([[User talk:Darman36|talk]]) 02:30, April 30, 2016 (UTC)

:I actually didn't think to try that - I remember going in the direction of where Myriam's hunting cabin would be in AC3. A memory wall popped up eventually and, following it, seemed to be put there to block my way to the beach - it was gone after I completed Lessons and Revelations. I didn't try in the opposite direction (I think I didn't even travel to the bridge over the river :s). I'll have a look when time allows. {{User:Crookandcharlatan/sig}} 21:28, December 5, 2014 (UTC)
:<nowiki>*</nowiki>hella late reply*

::I had a go today. Animus walls on all sides, I'm afraid. You can cross the river via the bridge, but the Animus wall pops up immediately after, so you can't go to the area where all the residents will have their homes, or beyond. The cliff that Shay eventually ends up at, chased by all the Assassins, in "Freewill" is also off-limits actually.
:The chart is certainly an improvement, but something needs to be done about those descriptions. If there was a better way of incorporating those into the article, I think the revamp template could be removed. There aren't trade objects in any of the other games, are there? {{User:Crookandcharlatan/sig}} 15:26, May 15, 2016 (UTC)

:Checked out the little house where you find Faulkner in AC3 as well, but there was nothing of note there either. {{User:Crookandcharlatan/sig}} 15:46, December 8, 2014 (UTC)
::<nowiki>*</nowiki>late reply myself*<br />Hmm, adding descriptions....Have to mull over; currently working on Weapons pgs. Oh, almost done the AC4 transcripts (Got sidetracked...for 2 months. Oops?) --[[User:Darman36|Darman]] ([[User talk:Darman36|talk]]) 02:04, May 20, 2016 (UTC)

That sucks oh well. But why would they change Silent Protagonist with the drop of a hat they aren't like the historical Assassins. With the Historical Assassins I get why but with the Silent Protagonist it makes no sense. I noticed that you've been adding slashes in the dialogue coding. Both I, Crimson and Slate have been removing those since they just add unnecessary coding. Does it actually change anything?--[[User:Bovkaffe|Bovkaffe]] ([[User talk:Bovkaffe|talk]]) 11:02, December 14, 2014 (UTC)

:It doesn't, but I am not really the one adding them. Ever since the third memory or so for Rogue, I've just used <nowiki><br></nowiki> to move down snippets of dialogue. I think Wikia adds those 'slashes' automatically, so there's not much that I can do about it.

:I don't think there's any difference between <nowiki><br></nowiki> and <nowiki><br/></nowiki> btw, so it's a tad annoying. Sorry :s {{User:Crookandcharlatan/sig}} 11:11, December 14, 2014 (UTC)

:Sima is our bureaucrat - the person in charge if you will. He won't mind your message being there :) Thanks for looking that up, I couldn't find it myself. Just to clarify, I don't edit maliciously. If I remove stuff you wrote, it's because it isn't written according to the rules - I will adapt it if I can, but if it's "out-of-universe" information, it probably can't be salvaged. Okay, we quite obviously disagree on the Great White Shark page... xD. Anyways, I do most certainly think that the Introduction requires a heading, otherwise, it looks strangely tacky (in my personal opinion). Also, if anyone wants actual information on Great White Sharks, they can head over to Wikipidia, but I thought the point of Wikia was to provide facts specificly tailored to the needs of the subject that you created the wikia off of. In this case, we're supposed to provide information about the games, not really Great White Sharks in general... But that is a very decent filler.
Hello, Crook!

:Sorry - as I've said in the message on you talkpage, the Assassin's Creed Wiki takes an in-universe approach. It is written like Wikipedia on purpose. It's not merely a personal taste, it's a general rule that editors abide by. I realize this approach might not make every visitor happy, but it's the approach that's been chosen. We aim to be an encyclopedia, not a game guide :s {{User:Crookandcharlatan/sig}} 15:22, December 29, 2014 (UTC)

Hi Crook, Darman here.<br />Thought I'd pop back in after my summer hiatus & say "Hello". Sadly I may have bad news: scrolling through "Random Page", I came across the newly-created Confederate States. Curious, I checked the page history & saw it had 10 edits in almost as many minutes by the same user on Sep. 12, and that all edits were very minor word rearrangements. Now: I know the actions are 1 week old and that any action now could prove meaningless, and that perhaps I shouldn't be bringing this up seeing as I haven't been here since Aug. 31, but I believe the MoS prohibits making constant small edits, to the best of one's ability. Because of the gap between the actions & this complaint, I don't think it warrants the third warning, but I also don't think it should be let off either. Perhaps just a general reminder, again? I apologize if I'm overstepping my bounds, and if I'm in the wrong for doing this, tell me and I'll make an effort on being less uncompromising about such matters.<br />I should be here off & on, as life is busier than last year, but you can still reach me on my talk pg.<br />Cheers, --[[User:Darman36|Darman]] ([[User talk:Darman36|talk]]) 18:15, September 20, 2016 (UTC)

:Uh well, you can select "Beginner", which'll take you to the "Connect to Xertion IRC" page. If you've registered your name, all you need to do is type it in. The channel should be filled in already, but if it isn't, type #ACWiki. Press enter, at which point it should ask you to fill in your password.
Hello,

:After that, you should be in. Though webchat can get a bit wonky sometimes :s Some people recommend Hexchat and the like, but I know nothing about how those work so, I can't help you there, I'm afraid.
My name is Sarah, I run the Made in Masyaf tumblr/Flickr page. I'm not overly familiar on how wikias function so apologies if this isn't going to the right place. I wanted firstly to thank you and other contributors for using my images on the wiki, it's a great honour. I use the wiki for reference constantly, so it's nice to be able to contribute to this great resource.

:Nowadays there's not always people, but you'll generally see some of the staff members' names in the list on the right. Storm will usually respond, Sima might not (his nick is always on the list, but he might not actually be present in the chatroom). {{User:Crookandcharlatan/sig}} 10:29, January 5, 2015 (UTC)
I've come to ask if there are more or better ways I can contribute images or other services. In particular I understand that my use of dyes on character's outfits can be a problem for images used here sometimes, so that's something I'd be happy to work on caps for if needed. I'd love to have a discussion with yourself or any other contributors to see if there's anything I can help out with. I can be reached at madeinmasyaf@gmail.com if this is easier

:Hi!

:There should be a bar at the bottom of the chatroom. Just type in your message there and hit enter :)
:This is a surprise. And I extend my thanks in return, of course - one of our users that provided us with a lot of screenshots left the community sometime ago, so you have been a real lifesaver in that regard.

:Well Hexchat is kind of a different "engine", so to speak. It'll send you to the same chatroom, the layout might just be a little different. As for other lobbies, dunno :P I've only used the irc to chat with the wiki people.{{User:Crookandcharlatan/sig}} 10:38, January 5, 2015 (UTC)
:That's awfully nice of you to offer by the way. If you are fine sticking to the default appearance of a character for your screenshots, that would be helpful to us, because we do prefer to avoid the custom outfits when screencapping like main missions and stuff. Umm, I might need to consult with other Wiki admins on what else we need screenshots of. Thanks for reaching out btw, I've been following you on Tumblr for some time :p

And now again its saying to registrate...and that my nickname is already in use.....this happenned after i accidentally reloaded the page....  :/!!

Well, on that matter, the so-called ''Vaticano District'' simply is something ''different'' from Vatican City, which of course is the current state founded in 1929. :Myeah, that is kind of my problem with the article - I don't think any of its content is in any way relevant to the real life Vatican City, so I'm not sure if it should ever have been renamed from "Vatican" to "Vatican City" in the first place. Regardless, I removed the flag because it classifies as "original research", content that does not appear in any of the AC media, which isn't allowed. The user who added all of the flags to the wiki did so of his own accord. {{User:Crookandcharlatan/sig}} 21:59, December 6, 2016 (UTC)

Greetings Crookandcharlatan. First of all, thanks for the help. It was my first contribution and the interface was quite difficult to master, but I did my best. Second, yes. In the book they mentioned the Heart as a POE. I leave you with a quote of it. Once again, thank you.

Hello There, I Just wanted to let you know that AC:Rogue has major bugs in naval gamplay and the combat in this game.
''"De Molay had kept it separate from the sword when the weapon was not being wielded in battle, so that in case of loss or betrayal, the two''' <u>Pieces of Eden</u>''' would not be taken together".''

:Excellent. Thank you for your swift response - I will try and fix up the writing where I can on the article. {{User:Crookandcharlatan/sig}} 23:22, December 15, 2016 (UTC)

* Problem 2: How did the british troops attack shay while he is a templar? and French troops attack him as an Assassin; Doesn't he help them win the Seven Years War?
==Pazzi==

* Problem 3: Why Didn't the Russian/Spainish ships appeared in the game?; They were supposed to be fighting alongside the French.
Hey, I have just realized I had not yet answered your question and so am amending that. I was removing the Wikipedia link on Francesco's and Jacopo's articles as it simply links to the House of Pazzi article in general, and of course Francesco is a member of the House of Pazzi but he *is* '''not''' the House of Pazzi itself (I hope I make myself clear). Since they lack an article on the English Wikipedia though, I see why you reinstated the link. I personally still think it is not the best solution, though. I had even started to create the article about Jacopo on WP to replace the general link but of course did not finish and publish that. Well, perhaps someday I will. --[[User:Piero.schiavone1994|Piero.schiavone1994]] ([[User talk:Piero.schiavone1994|talk]]) 17:22, December 27, 2016 (UTC)

* Problem 5: Why there are only '''(12 Ship of the line/Man O' War), (9 frigate), (10 brig) and (14 schonner)''', ship names in the french navy fleet?
:Oh hey, Abelzorus!

* Problem 6: How there are only Two levels of Man O' War '''36 and 49''' in this game. They should range from levels '''30 (56 Firepower-8 Speed), 36 (63 Firepower-9 Speed), 49 (66 Firepower-20 Speed), 60 (70 Firepower -30 Speed), and 73 (82 Firepower-44 Speed)'''.
:Yes, I went to go see the movie on release date; I quite enjoyed it :) I'd been spoiled about two of the deaths in the movie (arguably the two most important ones), but that comes with the territory of being a wiki editor unfortunately (some people really ought to wait with adding spoilers until material actually releases, but whatever). After having read some of the stuff people were saying online, I do agree that the movie has its flaws, so I hope they'll improve on those for the sequel (IF there's a sequel, cause yikes, those reviews and the box office haul aren't looking so great).

* Problem 7: How come the Legendary Battles copied the ships from black flag?
:Btw, do remember to sign your posts :p {{User:Crookandcharlatan/sig}} 19:33, December 27, 2016 (UTC)

* Problem 8: The French ships 'colors of the sails and hulls are '''not''' exactly the actual color in the seven years war.
:Similar to me I guess, I enjoyed it much more than the critics did, but it did have it's flaws and I think the ending was nonsensical, the way they portrayed the MD Templars slightly pissed me off. If they can make some money then hopefully they make some major improvements. Similar to how the video game: AC1 was improved on in AC2. I'm enjoying the Titan comics though, but I get them per Vol so I'm a bit late. How are you findind the AC Coimcs/Graphic Novels.

* Problem 9: The last and the most serious problem of the game are the graphics. They tend to glitch randomly in the game.
:[[User:Abelzorus Prime|Abelzorus Prime]] ([[User talk:Abelzorus Prime|talk]]) 19:48, December 27, 2016 (UTC)

And btw, Tell Ubisoft Games about that.
::The comics are a bit of a mixed bag for me. I feel like the Assassins series with Charlotte took a ''really'' long time to really grab me; also, I find the art for that series to be very inconsistent in quality (lots of awkward expressions lol), which made it less enjoyable to read. The Templars series I read in a rush cause I needed to catch up on lore, but I really liked that one: very interesting storyline and I'm glad to see more of Juhani and Violet. I have recently noticed the artist sometimes likes to reuse certain panels multiple times, which is a little annoying. Definitely the best one though, imo. Locus is a bit more low-key for me and because I haven't read Last Descendants, I don't know the teens very well - a bit puzzled on where the historic bit with Evie and Henry is going as well. That's my thoughts on the recent comics Ubi has been putting out. Templars comes the closest to matching the quality of the graphic novels like The Fall and Brahman, in my opinion :) {{User:Crookandcharlatan/sig}} 11:36, December 29, 2016 (UTC)

== Inconsistencies from the Film ==

:I don't work for Ubisoft. Also, none of things you're listing are "bugs", except for the last one :s {{User:Crookandcharlatan/sig}} 08:26, February 15, 2015 (UTC)
Hey Crook, I plan to write a review as well as an outline of inconsistencies in the film as soon as possible, hopefully tomorrow or the day after. Because I intend for it to be as comprehensive and concise as possible, I feel like saving my time and energy on my explanation through that instead, then referring you to it. A lot of the inconsistencies I'm referring to stop just short of being explicit contradictions and are only as such through heavy implications (i.e. they can be resolved but through some iffy explanations).

==Source==
There are a few glaring ones that are much more blatant, and they mostly revolve around ''[[Assassin's Creed II: Discovery]]'', since Ezio Auditore actually visits Spain in 1492 and fought at the Siege of Granada. There's some overlap between Ezio and Aguilar since they were present at the same events, and would've just narrowly missed one another. It's possible it'll turn out the contradictions between that game and the film can actually be resolved under closer inspection, so I'll have to take a closer look.
Since you always find concept pieces, would you trace [http://img4.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20150122210025/assassinscreed/de/images/5/54/Connor_fr%C3%BChere_Version.jpeg this] to its origin? --<span style="text-shadow: black 1px 2px 3px;">[[User:Kainzorus Prime|<font color="#7575DB" face="OCR A" size="4">Kainzorus Prime</font>]] [[Special:Contributions/Kainzorus Prime|<font color="#7575DB" size="6">⚜</font>]] [[User talk:Kainzorus Prime|<font color="#4C99A6">Walkie-talkie</font>]]</span> 20:45, February 15, 2015 (UTC)

:Is this your own scan? I can't really say anything from looking at the piece of art itself. Usually I find concept art by looking for an artist's watermark ^^; If the scan's yours, you could check the names listed in the credits of the art book (this is a scan from the art book, yes?), and we could narrow it down from there.
Like I said, I'll list all of the examples when I write my review, but a simple and major one I can name is that [[Tomás de Torquemada]] is a member of the Templar Order, probably even its leader in Spain, in the film. In the game, Ezio learns that Torquemada is ignorant that the Templars and Assassins actually still exist, and is just a fanatic sincerely convinced that Rodrigo Borgia is a true Catholic and that those targeted by Borgia, i.e. the Assassins, are just atheistic heretics that must be purged. Do you remember if Aguilar and Maria's execution scene takes place before or after the conquest of Granada? :I'm not sure - I'm not familiar with the Spanish Inquisition at all to be honest ^^; I think at the execution, Torquemada made some grand speech about Granada falling to the Spanish Inquisition, so at that point, the conquest probably hadn't happened yet. Also, I think the trade for Muhammad XII's son might've happened during the conquest, cause I do remember there being quite a lot of soldiers shown fighting, while Maria and Aguilar climbed over a wall to get into the palace complex or something? Is that really such a priority here? Your [http://assassinscreed.wikia.com/wiki/Special:Contributions/TheHiddenBlade123 buddy here] does not appear to be very versed in the ways of copyright, yet he has uploaded several images with faulty licensing information. None of his uploads are CC BY-SA 3.0 by any stretch of the imagination, all are clearly copyrighted and could only be spammed like that via fair use. None of the other wikias seem particularly bothered by that. As far as my image, that is the only perspective that the game gives. == JPEG vs. PNG ==

== IRC ==
Hey Crook, I've just started uploading images for the first time ever, and I'm still confused about the difference between JPEG and PNG. Which does this wiki prefer, and what are the trade-offs between the two? [[User:Sol Pacificus|<span style="color:#990000;font-family:Monotype Corsiva;font-size:17px">'''Sol Pacificus'''</span>]][[User talk:Sol Pacificus|<span style="color:#D4AF37;font-family:Californian FB;font-size:11px">(Cyfiero)</span>]] 00:15, January 14, 2017 (UTC)

Can you come meet me on the IRC? I've got something I'd like to discuss with you. -- {{User:Master Sima Yi/sig}} 13:00, March 13, 2015 (UTC)
:Uh, well. I don't think there is an explicit policy, like, there's no rule, as far as I know, that states png is better than jpeg and should be used always, or vice versa. So generally, it is up to you. Just remember, if you ever find a better version or you want to replace an image, make sure the extension is the same. You cannot replace a jpeg image with a png one. I figure that's obvious.

:I will be back in a minute or so lol. {{User:Crookandcharlatan/sig}} 13:34, March 13, 2015 (UTC)
:With all the images that I have uploaded, I can say the majority of those are jpegs, not png. I've been told png images are "heavier", they use a lot more megabytes or whatever. So, usually I just stick with jpeg because the difference in quality between png and jpeg is more or less negligible. There are two types of images where I stick with png: screenshots and transparent images (renders and the like). I find screenshots look cleaner/sharper in png - I understand DarkFeather uploads screenshots in jpeg anyways, so he has a different preference, but for me, always png. Transparency only works in png, so jpeg does not work for renders - you don't really have a choice for those :P

==French oral exams==
:I hope this was helpful to you. Just as a final remark, while I use png for screenshots that are like 1,920 × 1,080 in size, for small screenshots like the ones you're uploading, it again doesn't "really" influence the quality of the image. It's only on bigger ones that I feel png is superior. Alright, thanks for reading :) {{User:Crookandcharlatan/sig}} 00:41, January 14, 2017 (UTC)

::"''Just remember, if you ever find a better version or you want to replace an image, make sure the extension is the same. You cannot replace a jpeg image with a png one. I figure that's obvious.''"
::Oh, I wasn't sure if there was a procedure for upgrading an image to a better version such that we are supposed to replace the old one directly. I thought I would just upload a better version, than replace the old one in the article, but both images would still be independent of one another if that makes sense.
::Wookieepedia seems to have a strict [http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Wookieepedia:Images strict policy] which mandates that PNG be used for logos, maps, text, icons, and drawings while JPEG is used for game screenshots and photographic images. What's your opinion on this? Do you think it's a good guideline? <nowiki>*instant Frenchness achieved*</nowiki> --{{User:The Crimson Eagle/sig}} 18:17, March 16, 2015 (UTC)
::As for Wookieepedia, they're free to enforce their policy, but I wouldn't import it to our wiki. Like I said, my preference is for game screenshots and anything that has a transparent background to be saved as PNG. Anything else can be either, really. I'm personally a little iffy on adding rules regarding when jpeg and when png ''should'' be used - new users already struggle with the sourcing policy and whatnot, so I don't think it's necessary. {{User:Crookandcharlatan/sig}} 09:44, January 14, 2017 (UTC)

I had always thought that ''erstwhile'' is synonymous with ''meanwhile'' though a dictionary search suggests otherwise, but I can't find anything conclusive on it.

Well, I did the test today, and I think I did alright. Counts for 30% of my final grade though, which is daunting. Still, thank you all for you advice.
However, I worded the sentence as "''if Lucy had succeeded in recovering the Apple for Abstergo, the Eye-Abstergo would have failed catastrophically on the day of its launch, and <b>erstwhile, nothing would have been done to prevent the near extinction of humanity from that day's solar cataclysm</b>''" rather than "''if Lucy had succeeded in recovering the Apple for Abstergo, the Eye-Abstergo would have failed catastrophically on the day of its launch. <b>As a result, humanity would have become nearly extinct from that day's solar cataclysm</b>''" because of the ambiguity whether the Eye-Abstergo would have failed because of the cataclysm or because of errors independent of it (i.e. Abstergo sucked at making it).

I have to admit though, I can't wait until May, when I'll never have to speak French again. Decided to drop it as a subject. --{{User:The Crimson Eagle/sig}} 22:20, March 17, 2015 (UTC)
I thought that wording it as "as a result" can imply that humanity's near extinction would've been because Abstergo's satellite failed, which while indirectly true, can suggest that ''if'' Abstergo's satellite had not failed, humanity would have been saved from the disaster. This is not true, as whether or not Abstergo's satellite had succeeded, the disaster would have struck Earth anyways.

You are most welcome. If you ever need any more life advice I'll be there. -- {{User:Master Sima Yi/sig}} 23:25, March 17, 2015 (UTC)
The way Desmond describes the vision makes it ambiguous as to whether the Eye-Abstergo would have failed because the disaster just destroyed it anyways or because of errors independent of it. If the former, it's kind of moot and obvious (and we can assume that even if the Eye-Abstergo would have succeeded, it would've been destroyed by the sun anyways). However, I thought the fact that he mentioned that he saw a vision of it failing was posed as an important point in the game, or at least was an important detail even if it's obvious it would have been destroyed by the sun anyways.

:All hail Sima, the Supreme Overlord of Advice and Recommendation! If the latter, however, that is, the satellite would have failed because of errors in independent of the sun, then Desmond's meaning would have actually been to especially emphasize how much Lucy's retrieval of the Apple for Abstergo would have ensured everything went wrong. The implication would have been an emphasis on the fact that Abstergo had wasted time and resources on this Eye-Abstergo plan of theirs, thwarting the Assassins' attempts to save the world, and ''because'' of their negligence (not because the Eye-Abstergo failed), the cataclysm destroys almost all of humanity.

The <s>''erstwhile''</s> ''meanwhile'' was used also because it is ambiguous whether the satellite would have failed from the cataclysm or independently, resulting in the sequence of events being unclear. If the former, the cataclysm would have happened first, causing the satellite launch to fail. If the latter, the satellite launch failed, then the cataclysm happened. I think "as a result" here would also imply that we know that the cataclysm would have happened after the satellite launch failed, when it could've happened before (or more likely by how Desmond describes it, ''at the same time''). To reflect this ambiguity, I tried to word it in a way that didn't suggest which came first, only that the negligence of Abstergo led to the disaster happening regardless of whether the satellite would have failed or not.

==Response==
The satellite failing and the disaster could potentially be two independent events or they might be connected, but we're not sure of the latter, so I avoided posing them as events that occurred in sequence of one another.
I understand madam I will not do anything like this again.

[[User:Assassin Abdullah|Assassin Abdullah]] ([[User talk:Assassin Abdullah|talk]]) 11:11, March 28, 2015 (UTC)
Thus, because of the ambiguity, and because I wanted to be very clear that we're not suggesting the failure of Abstergo's satellite is what would have led to the near destruction of mankind, because that would've happened whether or not their satellite succeeded, and because I thought ''erstwhile'' is interchangeable with ''meanwhile'' (not sure anymore :P), I worded it as it was. Hey........its me again! :P......i've been meaning to ask this for a long time........my question is...
Hello Crook! Could you unprotect this category, please? [[:Category:Assassin's Creed III]] I believe it is no longer necessary for her to be protected. :) [[User:TheCreedX|TheCreedX]] ([[User talk:TheCreedX|talk]]) 15:33, January 22, 2017 (UTC)

Why exactly are the players i AC Unity and Rogue reliving memories........is there any purpose of the Assassins or Templars???
:Instead of unprotecting the category, how about I just add the interwiki link? That's why you want to access the category page, right? {{User:Crookandcharlatan/sig}} 15:37, January 22, 2017 (UTC)

Like in the previous games it was to acquire the location of the Apple of eden or to acquire the location of the Grand Temple Key, Observatory.....to make Desmond come out of his Coma......
::Not only that, but anyway, I believe the category should not be protected too. :P [[User:TheCreedX|TheCreedX]] ([[User talk:TheCreedX|talk]]) 15:42, January 22, 2017 (UTC)

So is there any purpose for reliving the memories of Shay Cormac and Arno Dorian?????
== Double-linking ==

If yes....what are the factions upto??? What are they trying to achieve this time?????
My bad for all the double-linking. It's because the policy of some wikis is to restart the linking after the introduction and also after the infobox and images. So I wasn't sure whether this was true over here. [[User:Sol Pacificus|<span style="color:#990000;font-family:Monotype Corsiva;font-size:17px">'''Sol Pacificus'''</span>]][[User talk:Sol Pacificus|<span style="color:#D4AF37;font-family:Californian FB;font-size:11px">(Cyfiero)</span>]] 01:52, January 24, 2017 (UTC)

And what happenned when the Templars did find the Observatory??? I haven't played AC4 and neither AC rogue or Unity so i don't now their modern day events and their purposes........
:No problem, I've run into that issue on other wikis as well, where they do link to the same article multiple times. You can link to, for example, "Assassins" in the infobox and then once in the main text of an article though, but otherwise, no double-linking. {{User:Crookandcharlatan/sig}} 08:47, January 24, 2017 (UTC)

== Notes don't use periods ==

:In Unity, both the Assassins and Templars are trying to find the remains of Sages. The Templars want to sequence a full genome of Precursor DNA, so they can get more insight into the First Civilization, while the Assassins are working against this. That's why some random shmuck gets contacted by Bishop to look into Arno's memories, because he encountered (and killed) a Sage, so the Assassins would be able to locate the Sage's body via his memories.
For the full synchronization objectives listed in the ''Discovery'' memories, those are fragments, and fragments aren't technically supposed to have periods at the end which signify full sentences. I was even actually going to go through all the memory pages and correct this later. [[User:Sol Pacificus|<span style="color:#990000;font-family:Monotype Corsiva;font-size:17px">'''Sol Pacificus'''</span>]][[User talk:Sol Pacificus|<span style="color:#D4AF37;font-family:Californian FB;font-size:11px">(Cyfiero)</span>]] 09:26, January 24, 2017 (UTC)

:In Rogue, a person at Abstergo was doing their work, but triggered some type of virus when reliving one of Shay Cormac's memories. This alerts Violet da Costa and Juhani Otso Berg, both relatively high-ranking Templars from Sigma Team, to the memories of Shay Cormac. In essence, I think it's Otso Berg that desired to collect footage from Shay Cormac's memories to demoralize the remaining Modern Day Assassins.
== Worst Inconsistency in AC Ever. ==

:The Templars attempted to find the Observatory, but found that the Assassins managed to bury it somewhere in the 18th century. The excavation has been deprioritized, if I memory serves. I think that should answer your questions, but you can check with other users, I might have gotten some things wrong; it's been a while since I played Rogue and Unity ^^; {{User:Crookandcharlatan/sig}} 15:32, May 21, 2015 (UTC)
So I did end up paying $2 for "Forli &ndash; a Crimson Sunset", the second chapter to ''[[Assassin's Creed: Identity]]'', and its timing of events makes no sense whatsoever.

So aren't the Templars doing anything to conquer people's minds.....to have control on them at this moment?????
The game never provides any dates for its events. We assumed that most of the game took place in c. 1506 because one of the memories mention the events of [[The Da Vinci Disappearance]], set in 1506, as a thing of the past and because Cesare Borgia is still mentioned as a present enemy, and he died in 1507. The first memories itself is assumed to occur shortly after the [[Siege of Monteriggioni]] in 1500, since [[Lo Sparviero]] is introduced as the sole Assassin guarding the city after its fall to the Borgia and because it is stated that these first couple of memory takes place several years before most of the rest of the game (assumed to take place in 1506). So far so good.

And what about Juno and her threat and all that stuff??
It all derails in this second chapter, where the Assassins are ambushed by surviving Crows in Forlì. It is clearly stated that this takes place in the immediate aftermath of the finale of the first chapter, and that the Crows in Forlì are the few that survived their destruction in Rome. However, during the mission, it is said that Ezio Auditore arrives with ''Mario Auditore'' with the Apple of Eden, hoping to entrust it to Caterina Sforza. Not only did Mario die at the Siege of Monteriggioni, but this mirrors the [[Battle of Forlì (DLC)]] in ''Assassin's Creed II'', set in 1488 years before the Siege of Monteriggioni. Confirming this, Borgia soldiers arrive immediately after all the Crows in Forlì are killed, besieging the city. This is aside from the fact Caterina never recovered her control of Forlì after her capture by Cesare Borgia (1500).

[[User:Jayam|Jayam]] ([[User talk:Jayam|talk]]) 16:35, May 21, 2015 (UTC)
So to summarize, the game begins shortly after the Siege of Monteriggioni, mostly takes place after Ezio discovers the Pythagoras Temple (1506), then treats the events of the Battle of Forlì (1488) as occurring about a year after that.

:I don't think the "mind control" thing is on the Templars' agenda at the moment. They're aware of Juno and her little faction, but I don't think the Templars are actively working against them. {{User:Crookandcharlatan/sig}} 16:45, May 21, 2015 (UTC)
Also, Ezio at the Battle of Forlì appears in his ''Brotherhood'' outfit. I don't see how we can possibly resolve this.

Everything is depicted quite clearly in the games. The Templars don't want to "conquer people's minds". They want to rule over them as benevolent dictators, not enslave them. Juno's currently using her minions, the Instruments of the First Will, to get everyone to upload their digital consciousness into [[the Grey]] to live under her rule.
P.S. There was not a single mention of the [[Crystal Cube]]. : Even more! The database entry on Sirus Favero states that his son, [[Matteo Favero]] was a Borgia captain in the War of the League of Cambrai before the founding of the Crows. However, that war took place from 1508-1516, and the founding of the Crows occurred around the time of the Fall of Monteriggioni in 1500... ==Handbook==
::Wow, that is garbage. Well, I'm not sure if there's a way for us to get explicit confirmation (I'm not sure who I'd have to contact for that), but since ''Identity'' is a side-game, I would ignore any of the information it presents that is in conflict with previously established information. You can note the thing about Matteo in his trivia section - as for Caterina, it seems wholly unnecessary to add the events of ''Identity'' to her biography. Again, I'd limit any mentions to trivia or something.
Hey, Crook

Sima told me you had the Abstergo Entertainment Handbook, and I've read that it has a profile on Mirabeau and describes some of the items linked with the Assassin hidout in the Sainte-Chapelle. Do you know if any of that info is new, or is it already mentioned in ''Unity''? :::"''I had entered into a big room and on the wall; a large Assassin Mark was painted. In the middle, there was a dead, bleeding eagle pinned to the wall with a Corvix Blade pointing out from its chest. From the blade hung a piece of paper; with a painting of an almost perfect cube on it. I pocketed the paper and proceeded with the search only to find a small chest under the painting that contains a small shard. I placed the shard back in the small chest and pocketed it as well. I had a few moments to look through the piles of letters and I had spotted a very recent one from Cesare. '''The letter contained several references to a Crystal Cube and how important this object was for the future of the Templar Order'''. [...] The little paper with the cube drawing turned out to contain a hidden map of Forlì, and it was filled with curious markings. I was eager to take the map and the shard to Leonardo, but first I needed rest.''"

::: It's not even in the game itself, and I completely missed the reference to it the first time. It's only mentioned in Machiavelli's journal on the aftermath of the last mission. You can't really tell what happens in the story from playing because you're just told to kill people, tail people, steal things, etc. without much context. There's never any spoken lines either. Instead, the only way to find out what actually happened in the mission you just played is by reading Machiavelli's journal of the mission afterwards, which always describes so much detail that never happened when you played it lol. ::::I can understand why Arno's father and M. de la Serre trusted this man. Despite human weaknesses, he grasps the potential of human greatness.
Now, I do understand that we must strife in order to keep apart in-universe facts and real-world installments of the series, and that's perhaps why you deemed improper to keep that image as the crest of the British Brotherhood - however, I have been wondering: how do other crests differ from that one? I mean, let's just take the [[Colonial Assassins]] insignia. ''That's'', by all means, the logo of ''[[Assassin's Creed III]]'', yet it has been assumed it also was the insignia of that brotherhood. So how does the ''Syndicate'' emblem differ from that? For this reason, I think that perhaps the removed image could represent the [[British Assassins]]. :Hey Piero, I know you didn't ask me, but I thought I could give my thoughts on this as well. :) I think that there is no reason that the logo for a video game should be taken as the official insignia of the respective Assassin branch if there's nothing that specifically says that is that branch's insignia. In particular, I had assumed the three stars for the American insignia represents that the game is ''Assassin's Creed III''. I would like to provide the example of the French Brotherhood insignia, which is not the same as the ''Assassin's Creed'' logo for ''Unity'', which has a slash across it to represent the guillotine. I think even a single instance where we know the logo and the insignia are dissimilar disproves that the logo should be taken as the branch's insignia by default. :::BIOGRAPHY
== Arno ==

::::History already regards Honoré Gabriel Riqueti, Comte de Mirabeau as a complex and difficult man to fathom. Surely if they had known about his role as the Mentor of the Assassin Order during the early stages of the French Revolution, historians would be even more at odds as to whether the man was a great leader who might have prevented the Reign of Terror, a demagogue, or a traitor
Hey Crook,
::::Mirabeau suffered from smallpox at the age of three, which left his face disfigured. Despite this seeming disadvantage, he had a deserved reputation as ladies' man and was involved in numerous ''affaires de coeur'', some of which were quite scandalous and landed him in prison.
::::During his time in prison, his writing - both erotic and political - came to the fore. He made the acquaintances of the Marquis de Sade while both were confined in the castle of Vincennes, although they later grew to heartily despise one another. Here, too, Mirabeau began to perfect his political voice, eventually turning the tables on those who had stood against him. He wrote ''Des Letters de Cachet et des prisons d'état'', an indictment of the practice by which one could be imprisoned without benefit of trial merely by producing a letter signed by the king.
::::Burdened, supposedly, by prison time, scandals, and a famously poor relationship with his father (who often imprisoned him), Mirabeau's reputation was less than stellar in some circles, but the public grew to admire him. His kindnesses and consideration for the lower classes appear to have been genuine, not an act. The pay his servants received was more than generous, and he apparently looked after the medical needs of his staff's children as if they were his own.
::::He became something of an Anglophile, visiting England after his paper on the ''lettres de cachet'' proved to be popular there, and was acquainted with Americans Benjamin Franklin and Thomas Jefferson. Later, he would propose a constitutional monarchy for France similar to the English model.
::::He produced other writings that attacked everything from financial speculation to the Prussian Court, and was perfectly positioned when the king made his decision to summon the Estates-General - a gathering of all the Estates of the Realm: the First (clergy), the Second (nobles), and Third Estate (the common people). Rejected when he attemped to assist as a member of the Second Estate, Mirabeau was accepted by the Third Estate. Mirabeau took full advantage of this opportunity to shine and rose to power on his popularity and his reasoned idealism.
::::The Third Estate broke away to re-envision itself under the name the National Assembly, taking the so-called "Tennis Court Oath" to create a new constitution on June 20, 1789. Mirabeau was among them, and would be elected its president on January 30, 1791. He was also a member of the Jacobin Club, which would become infamous for the "Reign of Terror" under Maximilien Robespierre.
::::His death in April 1790 (from, we now know, decidedly unnatural causes) was greatly mourned. In his honor, the Paris Pantheon was changed from a church, the Abbey of St. Genevieve, to a mausoleum for France's great men.
::::That sentiment did not last long, once incriminating letters were found in 1792 that proved that the beloved Mirabeau had been serving as a secret advisor to Louis XIV.

:::Aaaand that's all. If you need any more information on other characters, I might just scan the pages. Less typing :P {{User:Crookandcharlatan/sig}} 16:02, June 25, 2015 (UTC)

:Reliving Shay's memories did not achieve very much; Otso Berg apparently wanted to make a video using the footage to demoralize the Assassins, but that's basically it, as far as I know. {{User:Crookandcharlatan/sig}} 07:07, June 15, 2015 (UTC)

I am well aware of the need to change history to make certain truth softer for arrogance.

But understand that the revolt was a true slave revolt against slave owners not a race war. These word games are nothing more than "poor white man" trope. Those people were killed for slavery and not for race. Even the Wikipedia Entry of Dessalines admits that. This was not a race revolution it was a slave rebellion.

I just wanted record of what you all are doing here for the sake of vanity.

:I was merely trying to make peace. I am not trying reinforce any kind of narrative for political reasons - I will check back what Bovkaffe's source was in regards to his decision to use "whites", rather than "slave owners". Possibly he mimicked Ubisoft's own wording in this case - would not be an excuse, but it would at least be an explanation.

:And as an aside, since you apparently find it necessary to underline your heritage, perhaps you could at least muster some respect in regards to Bovkaffe's. Sweden is not Denmark by any stretch of the imagination. Thanks for reading. {{User:Crookandcharlatan/sig}} 17:48, July 1, 2015 (UTC)

:"Feel free to ask me anything regarding the Wiki and I'll try to answer as best I can." Don't worry, I don't bite :P

:As for your issue, no worries. Individuals like Aveline, Achilles and Adéwalé have appeared in multiple games and received different database entries. To differentiate them, simply put the name of the game from which the database entry came in parentheses. For example, Aveline has two: [[Database: Aveline de Grandpré (Liberation)]] and [[Database: Aveline de Grandpré (Black Flag)]].

:Ezio has a whopping four database entries, so you can check that one as well as an example, if you wish :P For the deer database entries, you can distinguish them by adding ''(Asssassin's Creed III)'' to one and ''(Black Flag)'' to the other. And that's all there's to it :) Hopefully I've cleared that up for you - and thank you again for all the work you've done on the recategorization of the database entries and writing up some of the locations from ''Assassin's Creed: Rogue''. {{User:Crookandcharlatan/sig}} 09:37, July 2, 2015 (UTC)

:No worries, it's a kind of policy change. I remember a few editors being quick to undo interwiki links in the past, but the admins have more or less decided there's no harm in having them on the page. We probably won't spend our time actively adding them to each article (at least I won't), but if somebody else is like "I'd like to add a link to the French/German/Spanish/... version of this article", they're free to do so :) {{User:Crookandcharlatan/sig}} 21:51, July 2, 2015 (UTC)

:Hey Connor!

:I might do at some point - the problem is she only uses the default outfit up until "The Silversmith" memory. Also, the screencaps are mostly limited to cutscenes. I'll pick and choose some for the screenshots we can use, but beyond "The Silversmith", we'll still need to rely on DarkFeather. I hope Kain writes that appeal sometime soon tbh. {{User:Crookandcharlatan/sig}} 22:17, July 6, 2015 (UTC)
:Hmm, I suppose the quickest way would be for you to update the image yourself. If you go [http://assassinscreed.wikia.com/wiki/File:ACS_Eric_Cooper_on_Altair_II_-_Concept_Art.jpg here], you'll see an About tab and a File History tab below the image. The About tab will be open by default, but you'll want to be in the File History tab. Then, all you have to do is click "Upload a new version of this file" at the bottom. You'll be sent to a new page (just ignore the bit of text at the top) where you can select the file from your own computer and then upload it.

==Templates==
Um I saw the black flag manga on a website called Mangafox. I was wondering if I could upload images from the website, but idk if its legal because, you know, its sort of like piracy, if you get me. Reading published manga for free, in my opinion is not legal. [[User:Misphantom|Misphantom]] ([[User talk:Misphantom|talk]]) 09:55, July 15, 2015 (UTC)
Dear Crook,

:Oh yeah, I've read some of it too. Absolutely terribly in my opinion :P But as for your question, I'm not sure. For the comics, I usually try to crop out a single panel and I erase the dialogue - check [[Arbaaz Mir]], [[Pyara Kaur]] or [[Raza Soora]] for examples. You could try that approach, but I'd recommend you, just to be 100% safe, check with [[User:Master Sima Yi|Sima]] before doing anything.
I'd like to start by saying how useful I find this wiki and have acessed it many times in the past. It seems you guys have a good system of keeping things from going bad around this site. I'm a user on a rather obscure wiki that's been holding up well. I heard of you through someone and was wondering if you could assist me in introducing some minor, but significant improvements to the wiki. To be honest, I'm a little new to wikis and notice ones like this have tags on the top of pages that say ''Speak sense Templar or not at all'' if the page is considered non-canon and ''Where are the paintings ''if the page needs more pictures. The tags are useful for notifying veiwers of whatever the tag suggests along with a quote. Unfortunatly, I don't now how to create those tags. If you can help, I would be grateful, if not, thanks for listening anyways.

:I hope that was helpful :P {{User:Crookandcharlatan/sig}} 10:00, July 15, 2015 (UTC)

From, Roosevelt the Hunter. April 18th, 2017

I'd once again like to point out that erasing the dialogue is not necessary, and I haven't seen any other wiki do it so far. In my opinion everything is preferable to a big white bulb of text so I'd prefer text not be removed (unless half the text bubble is removed). Just my two cents though. -- {{User:Master Sima Yi/sig}} 10:45, July 15, 2015 (UTC)

:I'm gonna have to disappoint you: these templates were already in place by the time I joined the wiki, so I actually couldn't tell you much about how they work or how to add them. My bad :( {{User:Crookandcharlatan/sig}} 16:42, April 18, 2017 (UTC)
::Sorry if I'm butting in, Crook, but I think I have the answer. Roosevelt, on one of the many times I've got lost on the Wiki, I found the [[:Category:Notice_templates|''Templates'' category]] page that has the various banners (''Speak sense'', ''Paintings'', ''Non-canon'', etc.) as page headers. Just click on the links to verify the template is what you want, then click "Edit". You'll only see the code if you're not logged in, since it's restricted to Wiki users, but you don't need to edit it: you just need the code. You ''should'' be able to copy it over to your wiki, but you'll want to double check (somehow?), just in case. Assuming you can copy it, you'll also want to change the text & icon to something more appropriate to the theme of your site. Hope this helps! Since you got all the dialogue in [[Hoarders]], could you get it for some of the other memories? Off the top of my head, I can think of [[High Society]], when Arno follows Élise through the hallways, [[The King's Correspondence]] when the thugs speak with each other inside the Tuileries, and [[The Temple]] where Germain's men speak with each other inside the tower. I haven't been able to get all of it, since it often gets cut off in the videos.--[[User:Bovkaffe|Bovkaffe]] ([[User talk:Bovkaffe|talk]]) 14:42, July 26, 2015 (UTC)

:'Aight, I'll have a go :p {{User:Crookandcharlatan/sig}} 15:02, July 26, 2015 (UTC)

::By the way, I've noticed that Arno can interact with the bookshelves at the estate in High Society, so I think there's some more dialogue in that. Also, I missed some of the dialogue in The Infernal Machine (mainly in the first part on the rooftops). Finally, there's some unsubtitled dialogue between the guards at the armory in Arm the People. It would be great if you could get the dialogue in those memories. Edit: There's also some dialogue between the guards in front of the Panthéon in Moving Mirabeau.--[[User:Bovkaffe|Bovkaffe]] ([[User talk:Bovkaffe|talk]]) 15:14, August 12, 2015 (UTC)

:::I'm pretty sure I checked out those bookshelves while replaying the High Society memory, those are just the titles already mentioned on the memory article. I'll try for the Infernal Machine and the Moving Mirabeau missions, but I can't replay the "Arm the People" mission, it's a Paris Story. I'd have to wipe my save and start all over again to be able to play that memory again. {{User:Crookandcharlatan/sig}} 15:41, August 12, 2015 (UTC)

== Info. ==

Hey, sorry for disturbing you again and again, but i have a question (again) :P

Do the templars ever find out that Desmond saved the world?

And like the main games have Modern Day Events (except liberation) where either the Templars or the Assassins are trying to find or achieve something, do the spin-off games like Altair's Chronicles, Bloodlines, Discovery, Pirates, memories, recollection and project legacyalso have modern day events. I mean like in the main games....the factions are trying to achieve something.....that's why their members relive memories of ancestors.......so are they trying to achieve something in the spin off games too? Its hard to tell as there are no modern day events.

And I'm just confirming this, but Juno kills Lucy because she knows that she would shift Desmond from his path and then she (Juno) wouldn't be able to get hereself free, right? Cause she needs Desmond to set her free by making him save the world by touching or doing something with The Eye, right?

[[User:Jayam|Jayam]] ([[User talk:Jayam|talk]]) 14:39, July 31, 2015 (UTC)

Also are there any modern day events in Chronicles China? If yes..which faction is reliving them and why...If no....then is it only a game made to depict the story of 1 single charcter ? (ancestor)

::''"Let them eat cake."'' - Falsely attributed to Marie Antoinette

::MARIE ANTOINETTE FAST FACTS

::*Born 11/2/1755; died 10/16/1793; aged 38.
::*Upon her first presentation at the French capital, Marie was met by a crowd of parisians, and some 30 people were trampled to death in the excitement.
::*Léonard Autié, the Queen's hairdresser, outfitted her elaborate poufs with enormous models such as a French warship to symbolize naval victory and the diorama of a club striking a snake to celebrate Louis' smallpox vaccination.
::*Initially buried in an unmarked grave near the Church of the Madeline, Marie's body was later exhumed by King Louis XVIII and reburied inside the Basilica Cathedral of Saint-Denis.

::BIOGRAPHY

:::Married at fourteen to her second cousin once removed, King Louis XVI of France Maria Antonia Josepha Johanna, better known as "Marie Antoinette," was France's final queen.
:::Deemed by her tutor to be "more intelligent than has been generally supposed," but also "rather lazy and extremely frivolous," the lively, outgoing Marie found marriage to the shy and rather ineffectual Louis to be unpleasant and dull. He chose to retire before midnight and rise early, whereas she enjoyed partying and gambling and slept until the afternoon. Considering they apparently were seldom awake in bed together, it is no great surprise that their first child wasn't conceived for eight years.
:::Marie had a private castle, the Petit Trianon, built just for her at Versailles, and in 1780 began spending more time there, almost always without Louis. Her obvious enjoyment of fashion and parties, in which she indulged extravagantly, made her an obvious target for resentment by a populace that regarded her as a foreigner. She became a symbol for the excesses of the Second Estate (the nobility). Nothing, it seemed, was beyond her in the eye of public opinion. The callous "let them eat cake" statement, supposedly a response to the fact that her poorer countrymen could not afford bread, was attributed to her without hesitation, and rumors of affairs and scandals swirled about her throughout her life. She was a popular subject of cartoons and pamphlets, and was dubbed "Madame Deficit."
:::Her reputation was dealt a terrible and irreparable blow by the "Affair of the Diamond Necklace" in 1785. In 1785 a thief posing as the queen stole a 647-diamond necklace that had once belonged to King Louis XV and smuggled it to London, where it was sold off in pieces. It was claimed that Marie Antoinette had been involved in the theft. Although she was innocent - indeed, she had been offered the necklace by her husband and had refused it - she was never able to shake the shadow of complicity.
:::On October 6, 1789, a crowd ten thousand strong gathered outside the Palace at Versailles, demanding that Louis and Marie be brought to Paris. When Louis appeared to be utterly unable to act, Marie instead met with advisors and ambassadors, begging for aid from other European monarchs. It was an effort doomed to failure.
:::With France at war with Prussia and Austria in the summer of 1792, Maximilien de Robespierre called for the removal of the king. The monarchy itself was abolished in September of that year. In January 1793, Marie Antoinette was made a widow when King Louis was executed by guillotine. Nine months later, Marie was to follow, after a degrading and agonizing trial complete with a false charge of molesting her own son.

:::That's probably the first thing I should've checked. Thanks, Sol /D {{User:Crookandcharlatan/sig}} 08:38, June 16, 2017 (UTC)
:And how exactly do you feel about sourcing information?
:~~ False Shepherd ~~

::Yeah, I've seen other wikis have comment sections. This wiki has been around a long time, so I'm not sure when the decision was made to remove those. We do have forums for discussing subjects, and newsblogs, though those are basically only for the big announcements, like a new game being revealed.
==Taking images from AC Wiki of other languages==
Hey, I noticed that the French AC Wiki already has articles of all the ''Unity'' weapons complete with images with the backgrounds properly removed. They are also all of higher quality than I can obtain at the moment. I wanted to know if it is fine for me to simply take the images from the French site, given that they're ultimately sourced to ''Unity'' anyways. [[User:Sol Pacificus|<span style="color:#990000;font-family:Monotype Corsiva;font-size:17px">'''Sol Pacificus'''</span>]][[User talk:Sol Pacificus|<span style="color:#D4AF37;font-family:Californian FB;font-size:11px">(Cyfiero)</span>]] 08:29, June 16, 2017 (UTC)

::Could you elaborate on that question? I think pretty much all information on an article should be sourced to somewhere, be that a game, comic or other piece of media. {{User:Crookandcharlatan/sig}} 09:05, September 27, 2015 (UTC)
:The French wiki has used images from our wiki in the past, and vice versa, so I'm sure they wouldn't mind. Usually when I use an image that originally comes from the French wiki, I try to link to whoever uploaded the original image in the image's description, as a form of courtesy, you know? It's not something you have to do though. {{User:Crookandcharlatan/sig}} 08:38, June 16, 2017 (UTC)

::Well, what i'm asking is what are the standards for what information needs sourcing and what information does not require sourcing?  On the wiki i'm on mostly, though it has a focus on facetious comedy and satire, we sometimes source things. But we don't source everything. Either because it's a low-brow joke or it's information that we'd assume people would already know.
== Removing Infobox policy ==
::So what standards do you have?
::~~ False Shepherd ~~

:::Well, (nearly) each page has a Reference/References section at the bottom, which is where the information on the article comes from. If you're only using a single source, just list it at the bottom and you're fine. If you're using multiple, you need to notify in each paragraph what information comes from where. An introduction general needs no sourcing, unless information in there does not return anywhere else in the page.
I'm not sure if you've read my last reply to you on our recent discussion, but here is a good example of the "follow the leader" procedure of deciding manual of style and new changes. We have a user who is taking the initiative to remove infoboxes from many articles of minor characters without a discussion on this ever having taking place, and you, yourself, seem to have chosen to affirm it by reverting back when some anon tried to revert those changes. I think this is the same thing as with my removal of "unknown" for unknown birth dates. It's a matter of manual of style and formatting, and someone is taking the initiative, and whether it stays or does not depends on if others, admins or no, decide to go along with it or oppose it. As you said, it's a bit of an arbitrary means of deciding manual of style. I understand it, having done it myself, as just the natural way things would be gone about without proper, official procedure, but I just wanted to point this out as just an example of what we were discussing. Master Sima Yi had told me before that every character should ideally or at least preferably have an infobox provided that at least two parameters could be filled. [[User:Sol Pacificus|<span style="color:#990000;font-family:Monotype Corsiva;font-size:17px">'''Sol Pacificus'''</span>]][[User talk:Sol Pacificus|<span style="color:#D4AF37;font-family:Californian FB;font-size:11px">(Cyfiero)</span>]] 14:30, June 19, 2017 (UTC)

:::We have a sourcing policy [http://assassinscreed.wikia.com/wiki/Assassin%27s_Creed_Wiki:Sourcing here], but it is a bit outdated, some of the newer entries into the franchise aren't mentioned there. If it's still not clear then, either try to edit as best you can (some of the other regulars will most likely catch any mistakes) or find an article of good quality that you can reference from.

Crook, do you mind locking the pages [[War on Terror]] and [[Cold War]] from unregistered users? Anons have been continuously messing with them for the past several days, editing more than dozens of times. While it's not clear the edits exactly constitute vandalism, the edits do seem arbitrary, counter-productive, and edit-war-like. :::Alrighty then. Do you have any questions for me?
:Sure thing. I gotta say, the infoboxes on those pages look really bad :/ They're trying to convey far too much information that doesn't really come from AC itself. {{User:Crookandcharlatan/sig}} 20:03, June 27, 2017 (UTC)

::Yes exactly. :-/ I don't know how best to handle them due to a convention of applying details necessary to convey basic information about these subjects that have real-world counterparts. == Collector's Edition Game Guides ==

::::I'll play it either on release or a couple days after. Though i thoroughly enjoyed Unity, i didn't find it interesting. Syndicate, however, DOES look interesting
So, i have a question. I have been adding missing book here, i added all missing artbooks already, and now i am adding all game guides + doing some clean-up for already being ones there. But i have been adding CE guides with extra pages to ACO, ACU, ACS and ACR guides same way as for art books, so simply add info that CE exist, list its content, add it cover... to page of main guide/art of AC as you can already see it at ([[Assassin's Creed Syndicate: Official Game Guide|ACS]] ,[[Assassin's Creed Unity: Official Game Guide|ACU]] ,[[Assassin's Creed Revelations: Official Game Guide|ACR]] ,[[Assassin's Creed III: Official Game Guide|AC3]] guides). Still need to create pages for AC4 and AC:Rogue game guides + clean-up AC2+BH.
::::~~False Shepherd~~

==A few questions==
But AC2 and ACB have already CE game guides as separate pages, and i think it is not worth having it for just these 2 games separatly, when we have everything else in main page. So i think we should delele these 2 pages: and add this info as for other guides to main page..
I have a few questions and you seem like a nice and sociable fellow. I hope you don't mind:
*Can you remove the vambrace for the secondary Hidden Blade in AC2, so that just the Metal Cestus shows, like in the cover art for the game?
*I'm contemplating getting ACRO and was wondering: How does it compare to AC4? I saw the review scores and they looked meh, at best, but also unjustified, mostly.
*To you, which AC is the best? I ask because I've only played AC3 and AC4, but have read everywhere that AC2 is the best.

A bit random, I know. Thanks in advance for any answer(s) you may give. :)<br />

:Nah, no worries, I don't mind at all.
So what do you think? [[User:Kulurak|Kulurak]] ([[User talk:Kulurak|talk]]) 14:12, June 29, 2017 (UTC)
:*I actually have no idea, it's been a really long time since I played AC2. I think it might be possible? The metal cestus needs to be bought, if I remember correctly. I am pretty sure you cannot remove the vambrace though, so having only the Metal Cestus is probably only possible if you don't upgrade to two Hidden Blades. You might need to check elsewhere for that.
:*I think the "meh" review scores are probably justified in some sense, especially to videogame journalists, who look for new things. ACRO recycles a lot of mechanics from AC4, so in that sense, it feels very familiar. If you enjoyed AC4, you'll most likely enjoy ACRO. ACRO's world is most likely bigger than AC4 (with the three core areas: River Valley, North Atlantic and New York), but because the game's storyline is much shorter, a lot of these places won't be visited unless you explore. While the dev team did an admirable job creating fun parkour puzzles (some of the more expansive areas are kind of like the Assassin tombs from AC2/ACB/ACR in that you need to find your way all the way to the top), a lot of it is filled with relatively mundane collectibles. Some of those collectibles are War Letters however, missives that contain references to a LOT of the other games, so they're very fun to read if you're interested in the series' lore. ACRO is also better than ACU Modern-Day wise, in that they're actually is a playable Modern Day. It does put you in the same place as AC4 (reusing of assets again), so it's not a "new place", but there is new content. As for the storyline, I think it's an interesting idea, but it's not executed as well as it could - mostly because the story itself is pretty short (6-7 sequences), you don't get as much opportunity to get to know the new characters. But the central conflict is pretty interesting.
:*General consensus is probably that AC2 is the best game, yes. It's the most polished, has interesting characters and a good story. AC1 is more on the philosophical side but has more repetitive gameplay. AC4 is probably considered the second best game along with Brotherhood. AC3, ACRO and ACU are base breakers, all for seperate reasons; some love them, some hate them. AC4 is definitely my favourite, but I haven't played AC2 in a long time, so I'm not sure which one of those I consider the best.

:I hope this helped and didn't get too wordy :P {{User:Crookandcharlatan/sig}} 09:01, September 27, 2015 (UTC)
:Sure thing. I can delete the pages once you've transferred the information to the general game guide articles for AC2 and ACB. {{User:Crookandcharlatan/sig}} 14:30, June 29, 2017 (UTC)
::Ok, done. So you can now delete them. [[User:Kulurak|Kulurak]] ([[User talk:Kulurak|talk]]) 07:02, June 30, 2017 (UTC)

::Not too wordy at all and very informative, especially in regards to ACRO. It seems that the general consensus is that the game is a rehash of AC4, and with that, I think I'll wait until the price is a bit lower until I purchase it.
== Ubisoft-partnered ''Origins'' redesign ==
Hey hey :) As [[User:Raylan13|Raylan13]] mentioned to [[User:Master Sima Yi|Master Sima Yi]] last month, FANDOM have partnered with Ubisoft to give AC wiki a main page redesign for the release of ''Origins''. That mockup is now complete and received Ubisoft's approval yesterday.  You can see it at [w:c:czech-ac-out|our sandbox]].  While it's mostly feature complete over there, you will find the odd thing that will work better once it gets ported over here on the live wiki. In particular, there are some navigational elements that depend on the category tree that exists here but would be needlessly time-consuming to replicate on a sandbox wiki.

::I've just one more question. Which game is the most stealthy in the series, where you actually feel like an assassin? AC4 was a great game, but it didn't feel like an AC game at all, to me. [[User:Klad|klad]] ([[User talk:Klad|need to talk?]]) 09:22, September 27, 2015 (UTC)
That's why we'd like to implement '''here''' over this weekend and then tweak it with your help.  So please take a look and see if there are any '''major''' issues you have with it before we bring it over. Once we get it over here, you can look it over with a more detailed eye, and we can take your concerns back to the Ubisoft reps to negotiate the final, locked design.

:::A rehash of AC4 is a pretty accurate way of putting it yes. Still, that put it miles ahead of Unity for some :P
Sound like a plan? -- [[User talk:CzechOut|CzechOut]] <staff /> 21:49, November 3, 2017 (UTC)

:::Most stealthy... AC1 introduced the whole social stealth thing, so perhaps that one. AC4 in general is not very Assassin-y, cause you're a pirate for most of it. Unity put a lot of emphasis on stealth, but it was kinda wonky in places. Yeah, I think I'd have to go with AC1, cause that one really focused on gathering information and planning an approach. It's not always stealthy in the sense that you don't get seen though - you approach your target unseen, stab them and then run like hell, usually :P {{User:Crookandcharlatan/sig}} 09:34, September 27, 2015 (UTC)

De la Serre residences[edit source]

Hi Crook, Wondering if you could clear this up, or point me towards someone who can:
In the ACU novel, Élise says her family has 2 estates - one in Versailles (where the game starts), and one in Paris, specifically in the Île Saint-Louis subdistrict of Île de la Cité. The Paris villa is sacked after the Bastille is stormed, resulting in Élise guarding the house for 11 days to stop anymore ransackers. However, when Arno briefly visits the estate in the Imprisoned and Templar Ambush cutscenes (end & beginning parts, respectively), the map reveals it actually is in the Temple subdistrict of Le Marais. Is this a canon screw-up, or do the La Serres have three estates? Confused... --Darman (talk) 00:51, April 1, 2016 (UTC)

Sounds like an inconsistency to me - is the Paris villa described in the novel explicitly identified as the place where Arno and Elise meet after the former escapes from the Bastille? If it is, we can consider an inconsistency and ignore the novel (since game canon trumps novel canon). Crook The Constantine District 10:05, April 1, 2016 (UTC)
Yep, and I quote: "Christian was located [...] far away from our villa on the Île Saint-Louis." (p 33); "I was running [away from the Bastille] by now, [...] ready to face anyone who stood between me and my chateau." (p 281), leading to

It was daylight when they came [...] I reached for the pistol, pulled back the hammer and raised it. [A] figure crossed the threshold and came into the gloom of my home "Élise," he said [...] "That's some welcome." – p 297

Trade Table[edit source]

Hi Crook, Darman.
I'm working on Trade objects & I see it needs a Revamp. I think I made a better chart in my Sandbox, styled after the Weapons charts. If I were to put it in the page, would it be enough to remove the Revamp? I can't seem to add the descriptions in the chart without it looking messy. --Darman (talk) 02:30, April 30, 2016 (UTC)

*hella late reply*
The chart is certainly an improvement, but something needs to be done about those descriptions. If there was a better way of incorporating those into the article, I think the revamp template could be removed. There aren't trade objects in any of the other games, are there? Crook The Constantine District 15:26, May 15, 2016 (UTC)

I am alright, but I got kinda tired of Assassin's Creed, hence my "disappearance" from this place ^^; As for games, not really? I'm currently playing a lot of Overwatch, but beyond that the only game I'm really looking forward is Horizon: Zero Dawn, which is still a ways off (I think that's a 2017 release, actually). Watch Dogs 2 looks good! I think Watch Dogs 2 to Watch Dogs 1 will be what Assassin's Creed II was to the first Assassin's Creed. Edit Spam?[edit source]

Hi Crook, Darman here.
Thought I'd pop back in after my summer hiatus & say "Hello". I apologize if I'm overstepping my bounds, and if I'm in the wrong for doing this, tell me and I'll make an effort on being less uncompromising about such matters.
I should be here off & on, as life is busier than last year, but you can still reach me on my talk pg.
Cheers, --Darman (talk) 18:15, September 20, 2016 (UTC)

Made in Masyaf[edit source]

Hello,

My name is Sarah, I run the Made in Masyaf tumblr/Flickr page. I'm not overly familiar on how wikias function so apologies if this isn't going to the right place. I wanted firstly to thank you and other contributors for using my images on the wiki, it's a great honour. I use the wiki for reference constantly, so it's nice to be able to contribute to this great resource.

Thank you!

Madeinmasyaf (talk) 15:08, September 27, 2016 (UTC)

Hi!
This is a surprise. And I extend my thanks in return, of course - one of our users that provided us with a lot of screenshots left the community sometime ago, so you have been a real lifesaver in that regard.
That's awfully nice of you to offer by the way.

"Vatican City"[edit source]

Well, on that matter, the so-called Vaticano District simply is something different from Vatican City, which of course is the current state founded in 1929. So, why removing the flag and keeping the name? --Piero.schiavone1994 (talk) 21:54, December 6, 2016 (UTC)

Myeah, that is kind of my problem with the article - I don't think any of its content is in any way relevant to the real life Vatican City, so I'm not sure if it should ever have been renamed from "Vatican" to "Vatican City" in the first place. Regardless, I removed the flag because it classifies as "original research", content that does not appear in any of the AC media, which isn't allowed. The user who added all of the flags to the wiki did so of his own accord. Crook The Constantine District 21:59, December 6, 2016 (UTC)
My very personal choice would be for Vatican. Much more sense, no? Oh well, if it gets endorsement it could be renamed back to it then?
As for flags. So do they have to be removed from all countries articles? And should their files be deleted, too? --Piero.schiavone1994 (talk) 22:26, December 6, 2016 (UTC)
I've been discussing it with one of my fellow mods and at this point, it looks like we'll be changing the article's name to "Vaticano district", which is what it's actually called in Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood (it would also make it more in line with the other three Rome district articles).
Flag-wise, I want to say "yes, probably". Just to be 100% sure, ask Sima if you can remove the flag images from the articles (I cannot guarantee he will answer immediately though, but he's one our most senior editors). Crook The Constantine District 22:34, December 6, 2016 (UTC)
I will ask. Thanks. --Piero.schiavone1994 (talk) 22:37, December 6, 2016 (UTC)

Nathan being an Assassin[edit source]

I'm looking at Callum's family tree at this very moment and Callum himself does not have an Assassin insignia next to his name, but Moussa, Lin, Emir and Nathan do. You can see for yourself either on the site or on Aguilar's page. The Wikia Editor (talk) 12:18, December 11, 2016 (UTC)

Oh, my bad. I thought he did have the insignia - I will change it back in a second, then. I have my suspicions that Sophia Rikkin isn't a Templar despite having the insignia, but that isn't really based on anything. Crook The Constantine District 13:44, December 11, 2016 (UTC)

Virginio Orsini[edit source]

So, as [Vatican City] has been deleted after all, peraps you could also delete another useless page, [Virginio Orsini]? This was an article I created by mistake without realizing there already was Gentile Virginio Orsini, and then I candidated it for deletion. --Piero.schiavone1994 (talk) 17:14, December 13, 2016 (UTC)

Done and dusted. Thanks for notifying me :) Crook The Constantine District 17:22, December 13, 2016 (UTC)

Crook,
I think the Bureau section of the Staff page might need to be updated. Stormbeast was last here Aug.1 and told Sima he was stepping down; Crimson's done off/on edits, but hasn't been seen since late Oct; Alientraveller admits he "only plan[s] to contribute sporadically and uphold [his] moderator duties", but hasn't been seen since early July; and Arcemz seems to have gone dark since mid-August after having said he's "decided to step down from the staff". Please correct me if I'm wrong. Thought you should know. --Darman (talk) 00:30, December 15, 2016 (UTC)

Response to the Heart[edit source]

Greetings Crookandcharlatan. First of all, thanks for the help. It was my first contribution and the interface was quite difficult to master, but I did my best. Second, yes. In the book they mentioned the Heart as a POE. I leave you with a quote of it. Once again, thank you.

"De Molay had kept it separate from the sword when the weapon was not being wielded in battle, so that in case of loss or betrayal, the two Pieces of Eden would not be taken together".

Cristophorus35 (talk) 23:20, December 15, 2016 (UTC)

Excellent. Thank you for your swift response - I will try and fix up the writing where I can on the article. Crook The Constantine District 23:22, December 15, 2016 (UTC)

Hey, I have just realized I had not yet answered your question and so am amending that. I was removing the Wikipedia link on Francesco's and Jacopo's articles as it simply links to the House of Pazzi article in general, and of course Francesco is a member of the House of Pazzi but he *is* not the House of Pazzi itself (I hope I make myself clear). Since they lack an article on the English Wikipedia though, I see why you reinstated the link. I personally still think it is not the best solution, though. I had even started to create the article about Jacopo on WP to replace the general link but of course did not finish and publish that. Well, perhaps someday I will. --Piero.schiavone1994 (talk) 17:22, December 27, 2016 (UTC)

AC Movie[edit source]

Hey Crook! Have you seen the Assassin's Creed Movie? If so, did you like it? if not, are you still excited? Abelzorus Prime (talk) 19:48, December 27, 2016 (UTC)

Oh hey, Abelzorus!
Yes, I went to go see the movie on release date; I quite enjoyed it :) I'd been spoiled about two of the deaths in the movie (arguably the two most important ones), but that comes with the territory of being a wiki editor unfortunately (some people really ought to wait with adding spoilers until material actually releases, but whatever). After having read some of the stuff people were saying online, I do agree that the movie has its flaws, so I hope they'll improve on those for the sequel (IF there's a sequel, cause yikes, those reviews and the box office haul aren't looking so great).
Btw, do remember to sign your posts :p Crook The Constantine District 19:33, December 27, 2016 (UTC)
Similar to me I guess, I enjoyed it much more than the critics did, but it did have it's flaws and I think the ending was nonsensical, the way they portrayed the MD Templars slightly pissed me off. If they can make some money then hopefully they make some major improvements. Similar to how the video game: AC1 was improved on in AC2. I'm enjoying the Titan comics though, but I get them per Vol so I'm a bit late. How are you findind the AC Coimcs/Graphic Novels.
Abelzorus Prime (talk) 19:48, December 27, 2016 (UTC)
The comics are a bit of a mixed bag for me. I feel like the Assassins series with Charlotte took a really long time to really grab me; also, I find the art for that series to be very inconsistent in quality (lots of awkward expressions lol), which made it less enjoyable to read. Templars comes the closest to matching the quality of the graphic novels like The Fall and Brahman, in my opinion :) Crook The Constantine District 11:36, December 29, 2016 (UTC)

Inconsistencies from the Film[edit source]

Hey Crook, I plan to write a review as well as an outline of inconsistencies in the film as soon as possible, hopefully tomorrow or the day after. Because I intend for it to be as comprehensive and concise as possible, I feel like saving my time and energy on my explanation through that instead, then referring you to it. A lot of the inconsistencies I'm referring to stop just short of being explicit contradictions and are only as such through heavy implications (i.e. they can be resolved but through some iffy explanations).

There are a few glaring ones that are much more blatant, and they mostly revolve around Assassin's Creed II: Discovery, since Ezio Auditore actually visits Spain in 1492 and fought at the Siege of Granada. There's some overlap between Ezio and Aguilar since they were present at the same events, and would've just narrowly missed one another. It's possible it'll turn out the contradictions between that game and the film can actually be resolved under closer inspection, so I'll have to take a closer look.

Like I said, I'll list all of the examples when I write my review, but a simple and major one I can name is that Tomás de Torquemada is a member of the Templar Order, probably even its leader in Spain, in the film. Sol Pacificus(Cyfiero) 07:18, December 29, 2016 (UTC)

By the way, where would be the best place to write and post my review/analysis of contradictions? A blog or a subpage? Sol Pacificus(Cyfiero) 06:26, December 30, 2016 (UTC)

I think a blog post or a forum thread would be okay for posting a review, personally. Crook The Constantine District 09:50, December 30, 2016 (UTC)

Do you remember if Aguilar and Maria's execution scene takes place before or after the conquest of Granada? Also more especially if Torquemada's retrieval of the Apple of Eden from Muhammad XII takes place before, during, or after the conquest of Granada. The timeline of this is very essential for me to figure out if there's any contradiction with Discovery or not. Sol Pacificus(Cyfiero) 09:07, January 1, 2017 (UTC)

I'm not sure - I'm not familiar with the Spanish Inquisition at all to be honest ^^; I think at the execution, Torquemada made some grand speech about Granada falling to the Spanish Inquisition, so at that point, the conquest probably hadn't happened yet. Also, I think the trade for Muhammad XII's son might've happened during the conquest, cause I do remember there being quite a lot of soldiers shown fighting, while Maria and Aguilar climbed over a wall to get into the palace complex or something? I'm sorry if I'm not of much help lol. Crook The Constantine District 10:36, January 1, 2017 (UTC)

JPEG vs. PNG[edit source]

Hey Crook, I've just started uploading images for the first time ever, and I'm still confused about the difference between JPEG and PNG. Which does this wiki prefer, and what are the trade-offs between the two? Sol Pacificus(Cyfiero) 00:15, January 14, 2017 (UTC)

Uh, well.
With all the images that I have uploaded, I can say the majority of those are jpegs, not png.
I hope this was helpful to you. Just as a final remark, while I use png for screenshots that are like 1,920 × 1,080 in size, for small screenshots like the ones you're uploading, it again doesn't "really" influence the quality of the image. It's only on bigger ones that I feel png is superior. Alright, thanks for reading :) Crook The Constantine District 00:41, January 14, 2017 (UTC)
"Just remember, if you ever find a better version or you want to replace an image, make sure the extension is the same. You cannot replace a jpeg image with a png one. I figure that's obvious."
Oh, I wasn't sure if there was a procedure for upgrading an image to a better version such that we are supposed to replace the old one directly. I thought I would just upload a better version, than replace the old one in the article, but both images would still be independent of one another if that makes sense.
Wookieepedia seems to have a strict strict policy which mandates that PNG be used for logos, maps, text, icons, and drawings while JPEG is used for game screenshots and photographic images. What's your opinion on this? Do you think it's a good guideline? Sol Pacificus(Cyfiero) 07:04, January 14, 2017 (UTC)
Well, if you upload newer and better versions separately, the older versions just go unused, which we like to avoid. Therefore, we try to just update images if we find/acquire a better version somehow. Unused duplicates usually get deleted.
As for Wookieepedia, they're free to enforce their policy, but I wouldn't import it to our wiki. Like I said, my preference is for game screenshots and anything that has a transparent background to be saved as PNG. Anything else can be either, really. I'm personally a little iffy on adding rules regarding when jpeg and when png should be used - new users already struggle with the sourcing policy and whatnot, so I don't think it's necessary. Crook The Constantine District 09:44, January 14, 2017 (UTC)
Sounds good ^_^. Thanks for the explanations. Sol Pacificus(Cyfiero) 00:18, January 15, 2017 (UTC)

Erstwhile[edit source]

I had always thought that erstwhile is synonymous with meanwhile though a dictionary search suggests otherwise, but I can't find anything conclusive on it.

However, I worded the sentence as "if Lucy had succeeded in recovering the Apple for Abstergo, the Eye-Abstergo would have failed catastrophically on the day of its launch, and erstwhile, nothing would have been done to prevent the near extinction of humanity from that day's solar cataclysm" rather than "if Lucy had succeeded in recovering the Apple for Abstergo, the Eye-Abstergo would have failed catastrophically on the day of its launch. As a result, humanity would have become nearly extinct from that day's solar cataclysm" because of the ambiguity whether the Eye-Abstergo would have failed because of the cataclysm or because of errors independent of it (i.e. Abstergo sucked at making it).

I thought that wording it as "as a result" can imply that humanity's near extinction would've been because Abstergo's satellite failed, which while indirectly true, can suggest that if Abstergo's satellite had not failed, humanity would have been saved from the disaster. This is not true, as whether or not Abstergo's satellite had succeeded, the disaster would have struck Earth anyways.

If the latter, however, that is, the satellite would have failed because of errors in independent of the sun, then Desmond's meaning would have actually been to especially emphasize how much Lucy's retrieval of the Apple for Abstergo would have ensured everything went wrong. The implication would have been an emphasis on the fact that Abstergo had wasted time and resources on this Eye-Abstergo plan of theirs, thwarting the Assassins' attempts to save the world, and because of their negligence (not because the Eye-Abstergo failed), the cataclysm destroys almost all of humanity.

The erstwhile meanwhile was used also because it is ambiguous whether the satellite would have failed from the cataclysm or independently, resulting in the sequence of events being unclear. If the former, the cataclysm would have happened first, causing the satellite launch to fail. If the latter, the satellite launch failed, then the cataclysm happened. I think "as a result" here would also imply that we know that the cataclysm would have happened after the satellite launch failed, when it could've happened before (or more likely by how Desmond describes it, at the same time). To reflect this ambiguity, I tried to word it in a way that didn't suggest which came first, only that the negligence of Abstergo led to the disaster happening regardless of whether the satellite would have failed or not.

The satellite failing and the disaster could potentially be two independent events or they might be connected, but we're not sure of the latter, so I avoided posing them as events that occurred in sequence of one another.

Thus, because of the ambiguity, and because I wanted to be very clear that we're not suggesting the failure of Abstergo's satellite is what would have led to the near destruction of mankind, because that would've happened whether or not their satellite succeeded, and because I thought erstwhile is interchangeable with meanwhile (not sure anymore :P), I worded it as it was. Sol Pacificus(Cyfiero) 00:14, January 15, 2017 (UTC)

Wait, to be exact, I thought erstwhile could be used as a past tense version of meanwhile or at least more like in the mean time. Also, I'm fine leaving your rephrasing as is :), I might be too fastidious with the details haha. Sol Pacificus(Cyfiero) 05:20, January 15, 2017 (UTC)

Special Edition[edit source]

I haven't seen the movie yet so I've only glanced over the novel but I don't think there's anything among the SE extras that stick out. It's behind the scenes and concept art mostly so unless the wiki is crying out for a nice bird's eye view of Abstergo Madrid, readers of the 'vanilla' aren't missing much. Vetinari(Appointment) 20:08, January 20, 2017 (UTC)

I mean, I do like me some concept art :p Feel free to upload it anyways, if you want. We could use an image for Madrid tbh, and concept art is better than nothing. Crook The Constantine District 21:21, January 20, 2017 (UTC)

Database records[edit source]

Our Database pages are supposed to be exact copies of the texts of Database entries right? Including typos and errors? Sol Pacificus(Cyfiero) 10:38, January 22, 2017 (UTC)

The Database pages function as records of in-game Database entries, yes. However, there is very little point to chronicling every typo and error Ubisoft writers make while writing these. So really, there's no need to use [sic] most of the times: if it's a typo or a grammatic mistake, just fix it. If it's bigger screw-ups, like Jasdip Dhami being referred to as "Jhadsip", it can be pointed out in trivia on the relevant articles. Crook The Constantine District 10:46, January 22, 2017 (UTC)
I see, thanks for clarifying. Sol Pacificus(Cyfiero) 10:51, January 22, 2017 (UTC)

Unprotect category[edit source]

Hello Crook! Could you unprotect this category, please? Category:Assassin's Creed III I believe it is no longer necessary for her to be protected. :) TheCreedX (talk) 15:33, January 22, 2017 (UTC)

Instead of unprotecting the category, how about I just add the interwiki link? That's why you want to access the category page, right? Crook The Constantine District 15:37, January 22, 2017 (UTC)
Not only that, but anyway, I believe the category should not be protected too. :P TheCreedX (talk) 15:42, January 22, 2017 (UTC)

Double-linking[edit source]

My bad for all the double-linking. It's because the policy of some wikis is to restart the linking after the introduction and also after the infobox and images. So I wasn't sure whether this was true over here. Sol Pacificus(Cyfiero) 01:52, January 24, 2017 (UTC)

No problem, I've run into that issue on other wikis as well, where they do link to the same article multiple times. You can link to, for example, "Assassins" in the infobox and then once in the main text of an article though, but otherwise, no double-linking. Crook The Constantine District 08:47, January 24, 2017 (UTC)

Notes don't use periods[edit source]

For the full synchronization objectives listed in the Discovery memories, those are fragments, and fragments aren't technically supposed to have periods at the end which signify full sentences. I was even actually going to go through all the memory pages and correct this later. Sol Pacificus(Cyfiero) 09:26, January 24, 2017 (UTC)

Worst Inconsistency in AC Ever.[edit source]

So I did end up paying $2 for "Forli – a Crimson Sunset", the second chapter to Assassin's Creed: Identity, and its timing of events makes no sense whatsoever.

The game never provides any dates for its events. We assumed that most of the game took place in c. 1506 because one of the memories mention the events of The Da Vinci Disappearance, set in 1506, as a thing of the past and because Cesare Borgia is still mentioned as a present enemy, and he died in 1507. The first memories itself is assumed to occur shortly after the Siege of Monteriggioni in 1500, since Lo Sparviero is introduced as the sole Assassin guarding the city after its fall to the Borgia and because it is stated that these first couple of memory takes place several years before most of the rest of the game (assumed to take place in 1506). So far so good.

It all derails in this second chapter, where the Assassins are ambushed by surviving Crows in Forlì. It is clearly stated that this takes place in the immediate aftermath of the finale of the first chapter, and that the Crows in Forlì are the few that survived their destruction in Rome. However, during the mission, it is said that Ezio Auditore arrives with Mario Auditore with the Apple of Eden, hoping to entrust it to Caterina Sforza. Not only did Mario die at the Siege of Monteriggioni, but this mirrors the Battle of Forlì (DLC) in Assassin's Creed II, set in 1488 years before the Siege of Monteriggioni. Confirming this, Borgia soldiers arrive immediately after all the Crows in Forlì are killed, besieging the city. This is aside from the fact Caterina never recovered her control of Forlì after her capture by Cesare Borgia (1500).

So to summarize, the game begins shortly after the Siege of Monteriggioni, mostly takes place after Ezio discovers the Pythagoras Temple (1506), then treats the events of the Battle of Forlì (1488) as occurring about a year after that.

Also, Ezio at the Battle of Forlì appears in his Brotherhood outfit. I don't see how we can possibly resolve this.

P.S. There was not a single mention of the Crystal Cube. Sol Pacificus(Cyfiero) 04:40, January 25, 2017 (UTC)

What a waste, the Crystal Cube was the only interesting thing. Happening after the 1500 makes no sense at all, it has less inconsistencies if it's treated as a precuel. DipsonDP (talk) 04:47, January 25, 2017 (UTC)

Even more! The database entry on Sirus Favero states that his son, Matteo Favero was a Borgia captain in the War of the League of Cambrai before the founding of the Crows. However, that war took place from 1508-1516, and the founding of the Crows occurred around the time of the Fall of Monteriggioni in 1500... Sol Pacificus(Cyfiero) 07:33, January 25, 2017 (UTC)
Wow, that is garbage. Well, I'm not sure if there's a way for us to get explicit confirmation (I'm not sure who I'd have to contact for that), but since Identity is a side-game, I would ignore any of the information it presents that is in conflict with previously established information. You can note the thing about Matteo in his trivia section - as for Caterina, it seems wholly unnecessary to add the events of Identity to her biography. Again, I'd limit any mentions to trivia or something.
Btw, in what context was this crystal cube mentioned in Chapter 1? Any hints or clarification to its purpose? Crook The Constantine District 08:38, January 25, 2017 (UTC)
"I had entered into a big room and on the wall; a large Assassin Mark was painted. The letter contained several references to a Crystal Cube and how important this object was for the future of the Templar Order. [...] The little paper with the cube drawing turned out to contain a hidden map of Forlì, and it was filled with curious markings. I was eager to take the map and the shard to Leonardo, but first I needed rest."
That's about it. So it mentions a chest with a small shard as well.
P.S. Your last edit on "Concubines" was perfect ^^ (I was actually about to change it like that in the exact same way lol). Sol Pacificus(Cyfiero) 09:03, January 25, 2017 (UTC)
It's not even in the game itself, and I completely missed the reference to it the first time. Sol Pacificus(Cyfiero) 09:06, January 25, 2017 (UTC)

Hello there[edit source]

Hey there. How have you been doing? It's been a while since we last talked.

I thought to stop by as I've recently been interested in the whole Assassin insignia matter. I noticed you undid 432O1's contributions, who had added, well, the rendition of the logo as it appears in the Assassin's Creed: Syndicate game.

Now, I do understand that we must strife in order to keep apart in-universe facts and real-world installments of the series, and that's perhaps why you deemed improper to keep that image as the crest of the British Brotherhood - however, I have been wondering: how do other crests differ from that one? I mean, let's just take the Colonial Assassins insignia. That's, by all means, the logo of Assassin's Creed III, yet it has been assumed it also was the insignia of that brotherhood. So how does the Syndicate emblem differ from that? For this reason, I think that perhaps the removed image could represent the British Assassins. Please let me know if I've missed something in my reasoning. --Piero.schiavone1994 (talk) 22:13, February 13, 2017 (UTC)

Hey Piero, I know you didn't ask me, but I thought I could give my thoughts on this as well. :) I think that there is no reason that the logo for a video game should be taken as the official insignia of the respective Assassin branch if there's nothing that specifically says that is that branch's insignia. In particular, I had assumed the three stars for the American insignia represents that the game is Assassin's Creed III. I would like to provide the example of the French Brotherhood insignia, which is not the same as the Assassin's Creed logo for Unity, which has a slash across it to represent the guillotine. I think even a single instance where we know the logo and the insignia are dissimilar disproves that the logo should be taken as the branch's insignia by default. Sol Pacificus(Cyfiero) 23:36, February 13, 2017 (UTC)
Hello Sol :) That's exactly my point: what is the difference between the American / ACIII Insignia, and the "British" / Syndicate Insignia? In both cases, we aren't quite sure that really is the branch's crest. Yet it has been taken for granted for the American one! --Piero.schiavone1994 (talk) 22:43, February 17, 2017 (UTC)
Yeah, for that reason, my position is that the Syndicate logo shouldn't be used as the British insignia either then. However, a little update: I just discovered that in The Essential Guide, they do at one point show the Unity logo as an example of a branch-specific Assassin insignia... Sol Pacificus(Cyfiero) 23:01, February 17, 2017 (UTC)

Was the Arno situation regarding the movie ever discussed? I figured it would still be added to the Trivia section as a theory even if it was decided not to add it as a fact. DipsonDP (talk) 01:39, February 28, 2017 (UTC)

HELLO pal i am reddit stupid nd basically that img of eric cooper from my post (hi it me connor) was obviously limited by the size of tumblr!! the one i got from mr nadiger sir was bigger and id totally love to send u the best quality one possible for the Wiki Good but idk how pls help.

hi

Hey Connor!
Hmm, I suppose the quickest way would be for you to update the image yourself. If you go here, you'll see an About tab and a File History tab below the image. The About tab will be open by default, but you'll want to be in the File History tab. Then, all you have to do is click "Upload a new version of this file" at the bottom. You'll be sent to a new page (just ignore the bit of text at the top) where you can select the file from your own computer and then upload it.
Alternatively, you could send me the picture via Reddit (I'm actually not 100% sure you can send images through reddit's private messaging, but I hope you can :p). I have the same handle on there as I do here, so it shouldn't be too hard to find me.
Thanks for your help :) Crook The Constantine District 08:58, April 2, 2017 (UTC)

Templates[edit source]

Dear Crook,

I'd like to start by saying how useful I find this wiki and have acessed it many times in the past. It seems you guys have a good system of keeping things from going bad around this site. I'm a user on a rather obscure wiki that's been holding up well. I heard of you through someone and was wondering if you could assist me in introducing some minor, but significant improvements to the wiki. To be honest, I'm a little new to wikis and notice ones like this have tags on the top of pages that say Speak sense Templar or not at all if the page is considered non-canon and Where are the paintings if the page needs more pictures. The tags are useful for notifying veiwers of whatever the tag suggests along with a quote. Unfortunatly, I don't now how to create those tags. If you can help, I would be grateful, if not, thanks for listening anyways.

From, Roosevelt the Hunter. April 18th, 2017

Hey Roosevelt!
I'm gonna have to disappoint you: these templates were already in place by the time I joined the wiki, so I actually couldn't tell you much about how they work or how to add them. My bad :( Crook The Constantine District 16:42, April 18, 2017 (UTC)
Sorry if I'm butting in, Crook, but I think I have the answer. Roosevelt, on one of the many times I've got lost on the Wiki, I found the Templates category page that has the various banners (Speak sense, Paintings, Non-canon, etc.) as page headers. Just click on the links to verify the template is what you want, then click "Edit". You'll only see the code if you're not logged in, since it's restricted to Wiki users, but you don't need to edit it: you just need the code. You should be able to copy it over to your wiki, but you'll want to double check (somehow?), just in case. Assuming you can copy it, you'll also want to change the text & icon to something more appropriate to the theme of your site. Hope this helps! Darman (talk) 23:25, April 18, 2017 (UTC)

Sorry about that[edit source]

Dear Crook,

I apologize for my silence, as my account did not notify me of any reply. I do not know why, but it just didn't. Fortunately, I have managed to get the templates need for my wiki through someone else and will apply them accordingly. To be honest, I kind of asking on other wikis as well. Regardless, thanks for the help anyways.

Hello Crook, could you "revive" the Medjay article you deleted earlier please. It wasn't big but it would be a shame if it got lost Maxattac (talk) 14:51, June 12, 2017 (UTC)

Khenut[edit source]

Well Origins iz tween 5th Dynasty an Cleopatra VIIAkame_of_the_Demon_Sword_Murasame村雨(Talk) 16:28, June 14, 2017 (UTC)

The time period may be right, but the Khenut in-game does not strike me as a Queen consort. At this moment, I find it too speculative to conclude that in-game Khenut and the real-life Queen Khenut are the same person. Crook The Constantine District 17:02, June 14, 2017 (UTC)
It's not just speculative. There's absolutely no way the Khenut in the game can be the same as the Queen Consort of the 5th dynasty because that was more than 2,300 years before the game's setting. Sol Pacificus(Cyfiero) 07:52, June 16, 2017 (UTC)
That's probably the first thing I should've checked. Thanks, Sol /D Crook The Constantine District 08:38, June 16, 2017 (UTC)

Taking images from AC Wiki of other languages[edit source]

Hey, I noticed that the French AC Wiki already has articles of all the Unity weapons complete with images with the backgrounds properly removed. They are also all of higher quality than I can obtain at the moment. I wanted to know if it is fine for me to simply take the images from the French site, given that they're ultimately sourced to Unity anyways. Sol Pacificus(Cyfiero) 08:29, June 16, 2017 (UTC)

The French wiki has used images from our wiki in the past, and vice versa, so I'm sure they wouldn't mind. Usually when I use an image that originally comes from the French wiki, I try to link to whoever uploaded the original image in the image's description, as a form of courtesy, you know? It's not something you have to do though. Crook The Constantine District 08:38, June 16, 2017 (UTC)

Removing Infobox policy[edit source]

Locking "War on Terror" and "Cold War"[edit source]

Crook, do you mind locking the pages War on Terror and Cold War from unregistered users? Anons have been continuously messing with them for the past several days, editing more than dozens of times. While it's not clear the edits exactly constitute vandalism, the edits do seem arbitrary, counter-productive, and edit-war-like. Sol Pacificus(Cyfiero) 19:57, June 27, 2017 (UTC)

Sure thing. I gotta say, the infoboxes on those pages look really bad :/ They're trying to convey far too much information that doesn't really come from AC itself. Crook The Constantine District 20:03, June 27, 2017 (UTC)
Yes exactly. :-/ I don't know how best to handle them due to a convention of applying details necessary to convey basic information about these subjects that have real-world counterparts. I thought about offering this article up for deletion, but because it is mentioned in an AC source, so far, I've just winged with it... but I don't know. Collector's Edition Game Guides[edit source]

So, i have a question. I have been adding missing book here, i added all missing artbooks already, and now i am adding all game guides + doing some clean-up for already being ones there. But i have been adding CE guides with extra pages to ACO, ACU, ACS and ACR guides same way as for art books, so simply add info that CE exist, list its content, add it cover... to page of main guide/art of AC as you can already see it at (ACS ,ACU ,ACR ,AC3 guides). Still need to create pages for AC4 and AC:Rogue game guides + clean-up AC2+BH.

But AC2 and ACB have already CE game guides as separate pages, and i think it is not worth having it for just these 2 games separatly, when we have everything else in main page. So i think we should delele these 2 pages: and add this info as for other guides to main page..

( Assassin's Creed II: Collector's Edition Official Game Guide, Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood Collector's Edition Official Game Guide )

So what do you think? Kulurak (talk) 14:12, June 29, 2017 (UTC)

Sure thing. I can delete the pages once you've transferred the information to the general game guide articles for AC2 and ACB. Crook The Constantine District 14:30, June 29, 2017 (UTC)
Ok, done. So you can now delete them. Kulurak (talk) 07:02, June 30, 2017 (UTC)

Ubisoft-partnered Origins redesign[edit source]

Hey hey :) As Raylan13 mentioned to Master Sima Yi last month, FANDOM have partnered with Ubisoft to give AC wiki a main page redesign for the release of Origins.

That's why we'd like to implement here over this weekend and then tweak it with your help. So please take a look and see if there are any major issues you have with it before we bring it over. Once we get it over here, you can look it over with a more detailed eye, and we can take your concerns back to the Ubisoft reps to negotiate the final, locked design.

Sound like a plan? -- CzechOut <staff /> 21:49, November 3, 2017 (UTC)

ACO concept art[edit source]

I see that you worked on most if not all of the ACO concept art files here on the wiki so here is a compilation of ACO concept artists that might be useful. Nanomat (talk) 20:49, March 4, 2018 (UTC)

Cult of Kosmos[edit source]

Why is the Cult of Kosmos page locked? Alpha Omega Plus (talk) 11:11, 16 November 2020 (UTC)

It is an high-traffic page that has seen a lot of vandalism. Amnestyyy (Contact me!) <helper /> 15:08, 16 November 2020 (UTC)
