Geoffrey Chaucer (c. 1343 – 25 October 1400) was an English poet, philosopher, alchemist, and astronomer.[1] He was the author of The Canterbury Tales, a 14th century collection of stories detailing the lives and concerns of a group of Christian pilgrims traveling to Canterbury Cathedral, and is considered a vital figure in developing the legitimacy of English as England's literary language.[2] In 1511, the Italian Assassin Ezio Auditore bought a copy of Chaucer's work from a book shop in Constantinople.[3]
