'''Sato Genta''' (died 1582) was a [[Japan]]ese [[samurai]] who served under [[Oda Nobunaga]].

==Biography==
In 1582, Sato Genta secretly worked under [[Akechi Mitsuhide]] to sabotage Nobunaga's defenses at [[Honnō-ji]] when Mitsuhide and his forces came to [[Honnō-ji incident|attack]]. As a result of Oda Nobunaga's death, Genta was promised a promotion for his part. However, he was denied his rank and accepted a lower rank and placement with [[Toyotomi Hideyoshi]]'s army.<ref name="The Betrayers">''[[Assassin's Creed: Shadows]]'' – [[The Betrayers]]</ref>

After the incident at Honnō-ji, [[Hori Hidemasa]], a current retainer to [[Toyotomi Hideyoshi]], met with [[Japanese Brotherhood of Assassins|Kakushiba ''ikki'']] member and former retainer [[Yasuke]] to discuss these traitors. Yasuke, along with fellow Kakushiba ''ikki'' member [[Fujibayashi Naoe]], agreed to help hunt down these betrayers.<ref name="The Betrayers"/>

From Hidemasa's intel, Naoe and Yasuke traveled to Azuchi and discovered Genta's presence within [[Azuchi]]. Confronting him, they promptly assassinated Genta and retrieved the ''[[katana]]'' [[Sorrowful Surrender]] from his personal effects.<ref name="The Betrayers"/>
