'''Kyobei''' was a [[Japan]]ese samurai and retainer to the ''[[daimyō]]'' [[Nakatomi]] who lived in the [[Iga]] Province during the late [[Sengoku period]].

==Biography==
In 1582, Kyobei and his best friend [[Ibuki]] had served under [[Nakatomi]] for years. However, when Ibuki refused to follow Nakatomi's cruel orders, Kyobei was ordered to kill him due to his defiance.<ref name="Homecoming">''[[Assassin's Creed: Shadows]]'' – [[Homecoming (Shadows)|Homecoming]]</ref> Yet, given their history, Kyobei exiled Ibuki instead and told them to leave the province altogether.<ref name="Ambush Interrupted">''[[Assassin's Creed: Shadows]]'' – [[Ambush Interrupted]]</ref> When informing Nakatomi, he lied and swore that he killed Ibuki upon his family's honor.<ref name="Homecoming"/>

At [[Hijiyama Fort]], Kyobei was later discovered to have lied as Nakatomi heard news of Ibuki helping out the locals fight against her [[soldier]]s. Kneeling on the ground, he was nearly executed until Ibuki and his newfound ally and [[Japanese Brotherhood of Assassins|Kakushiba ''ikki'']] member [[Yasuke]] broke into the [[fort]] and came upon them. After a tense conversation, Kyobei found the strength and joined Ibuki and Yasuke to fight against Nakatomi and her forces, ultimately killing her. Despite their victory, Kyobei remained conflicted and needed the night to think about his choices. The next morning, he decided to start again as the new leader over his fellow soldiers before bidding farewell to Ibuki. Fortunately, with Ibuki's issue with Kyobei resolved, Ibuki was offered to join Yasuke's league, to which they accepted.<ref name="Homecoming"/>

Depending on the player's choices, Kyobei can be saved or killed during the memory "[[Homecoming (Shadows)|Homecoming]]." If canon mode is not enabled, his death has an effect on recruiting Ibuki to the league.
