Yuri Petrovich Figatner

Yuri Petrovich Figatner (1889 – 1937) was a Russian Templar who operated as a Soviet party functionary under the Central Committee of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union's then-General Secretary Joseph Stalin. After the Templars infiltrated the Politburo, Figatner was assigned to head a special government commission in 1928 to investigate the Russian Academy of Sciences and purge it of "counter-revolutionaries", turning the Academy into a Stalinist organization. Many Assassins, who had been allowed to make use of the Academy's facilities under Vladimir Lenin's regime, and scientists loyal to the Assassin cause, were killed or forced into hiding as a result.
