Wesberie is a village and parish in Shropshire, England. During the late 9th century, the village was taken over by an army of Britons led by captain Ynyr ap Cadfarch during their incursions into Mercia.
Circa 874, the trio consisting of Eivor Varinsdottir, Ivarr the Boneless and Ceolbert led a raid on the village to drive the Britons into suing for peace. After torching various houses, the trio confronted Ynyr, killing him and his men. Following this, the Anglo-Saxons and Norse set up a make-shift camp outside the village while awaiting for the Britons to arrive for peace talks.[1]
