Vera was an Anglo-Saxon woman from Picheringa during the 9th century. She was a the wife of a fisherman and operated a fish stall in the town.

Biography[edit | edit source]

In the 870s, Vera was managing her business when the Viking Shieldmaiden Eivor Varinsdottir approached with somber news. Eivor inquired about her husband, the fisherman below the cliff, and Vera, hopeful but apprehensive, asked if he was off fishing again. Eivor shared the tragic truth—her husband had met his end beneath a rock, a victim of heartless bandits seeking to exploit him. Shocked and grief-stricken, Vera's world crumbled as she faced the harsh reality of widowhood, left penniless by her husband's untimely demise.[1]
