'Hello D Cello, I am Zantam03 from Gongjin's Campaign Memorials. If it's ok I'd like to ask you a question about the look of your mainpage. I like those blocks around the various subjects, but, as a .css noob, I do not understand much of how they're made :p. Looks rather complex with it being spread over various pages. Despite that I'm interesting in using it for my Wiki. Not on its mainpage, but rather on articles such as this one. I think it'll make it look a lot clearer if every header has it's own block. If it's not too much effort, could you please instruct me or tell me how you've made these blocks and how I could use them for that page? ---Zantam03 (Talk) 15:31, March 3, 2011 (UTC)

d cello, i received your message in my email system. i assume its referering to my post on the the charcter pages and not my activity in the community forum. thats my bad for contaminating the actual informations wiki pages, but i aint know where else to put it. im new and still learning my way around. my questions however are:
- is it possible to add the date to each event just to limit the confusion.
- on one page it says illario is the great grandfather of giovanni and mario, but on another it says its unknown if he is the grandfather or great grandfather of ezio.
i also posted new links in th forum asking these questions, but i received no comments/answers. everyone seems to be more interested in my controversial posts about other shit.Valogan2 05:27, July 19, 2011 (UTC)

Different Subject[edit source]

Hey Cello I was thinking we should have a Steam Group for the wikia that way when Brotherhood comes out on Steam people can access it from within the game and chat with other members of the Steam group and we could maybe even post small articles there as a way of helping people who want to look things up easily. IRC Trouble[edit source]

bibs banned a user, Sakura`Kinomoto, for no reason. then lied and said it was in his pm. I'm not stupid, and he's got his buddy ChickenNugget in here backing him up. I have logs, I'll post them now.

So that's the whole thing, Brother. And it was still going on when I got on. But I settled it myself (since it once again fell to me). I know how they took my name, I was having lots of trouble registering, so Avanti offered to help, and did it for me, of course to do this I had to tell him what my password would be. So in anger, I guess he told a few people. So, on an update of the IRC trouble. It seems that Blaidd had never given bib his password like the above logs said. How it happened was when Blaidd first got on the IRC channel, Blaidd was having trouble registering, so Avanti offered to help him. Blaidd told Avanti what password to use, and Avanti registered his name. Well then sometime between Blaidd's first registration on the IRC server and the time these logs took place, Avanti told bib Blaidd's password which allowed the channel takeover in the first place.

Then during all that, when bib got services ignored by Cookie, he passed Blaidd's password on over to ChickenNugget and Nugget banned the entire channel, which in turn caused us to add him to services' ignore as well. How long these services ignores are going to last, I don't know that's up to Cookie.

Also, on another note Cookie has changed War_Clown's IP address on the ZNC that he uses to connect to the IRC so he is no longer sharing an address with Avanti, bib, and ChickenNugget. So if any network bans are placed on them in the future (G:Line, K:Line, etc.) War_Clown will not be affected. Yay! :D -- Kaishiro Message 05:45, March 6, 2011 (UTC)

I've got some images of Ezio's room from AC: Brotherhood that i'd like to add but i'm having trouble adding them, i click add a photo to this gallery and it just freezes, it happens on all the gallery's is there some sort of problem with the gallery's or is it just me? If I'm overstepping, I sincerely apologize; I'm new to the whole admin thing (and I fell into the position in the most undesirable of ways), and I'm a bit lost as to how to do certain things...

Hey, the best way for you to get it is contact a Wikia Staff member (for gaming wikis, most likely User:JoePlay). May I ask what was the undesirable manner you fell into adminship? oO -- D. Cello 00:31, March 13, 2011 (UTC)
We have (or had) five admins on the site, but these last few months only one of them (a new one) was active. Early this morning, an admin from another wiki came in and accused this new admin of plagiarizing template designs, and said new admin decided then and there that they were quitting wikias 'forever' and started deleting the templates they had made (or, more likely, plagiarized). I, who had come to depend on this admin quite a bit, got scared, and when I wasn't able to convince the admin to stay, I asked for administrative rights so I could, at least, protect the wiki from vandalism. The Admin on The Matrix Wiki wanted to use a gif file depicting the falling green code as background but it wouldn't look good tiled as well as it was too large (3.09 GB). So I suggested designing the still background that depicts the falling code that will look as if it fades at the end, just like the bodies of Ezio and all fades into the fog. But he also didn't know dimensions for the image. But the image here seems to be of High resolution as well as of a large size, How did you get it Under the size of 100KB?

Okay, I searched the file on my pc, the pic resolution is 1980x1200. I figure is the biggeest resolution someone normal would use. And use photoshop when saving as jpeg, you can select the quality and final size. -- D. Cello 15:59, March 14, 2011 (UTC)

Stub policy and redirect suggestions[edit source]

Hey D,
I'm a bit of peripheral editor here, so I was wondering about a couple of things. How does the stub policy work? It seems to me like the stub template is littered on any article that's slightly short. Logically, articles that fall into the stub category are incomplete or lacking somehow. In cases that there simply isn't enough info about a subject, wouldn't the articles be considered complete, even if they're short?

I'd also suggest making redirects for the various templar acronyms in Subject 16's messages (i.e. H -> Hitler, C -> Churchill etc). I'd just do it, but since I'm unfamiliar with any policies here, I figured I'd ask.

Hey mate. Glad to see you're getting more involved in the wiki.
We don't really have a policy for stubs, we prefer to keep it simple. If an article is very short or lacks info, it's considered a stub. If it has most of the info on the subject avaiable, then it's not a stub anymore.
And good idea with the acronyms, feel free to start working on then.

Idea: Polls[edit source]

Long discussions are interesting, but how about some polls to make the users opinions and theories more clear?

I'm new so I don't know if you have done polls before. They are easy to make in html.

Bleeding Effect[edit source]

In AC 2 we were told that memories of ncestors couldn't be passed after the concieving on the decendant.

But Subject 16, in one of his glyph files says that he can feel as the water fills his lungs and how he is dying, but shouldn't his memories be passed on to his decendant before his ancestor's death?

Same in ACBH, Desmond sees the image of Ezio in The Sanctuary, and states that he would have come there long after the Villa Attack?

Is there a explanation given to these facts or are they just plotholes?

well i understand ur confusion with the first point where the ancestor is drowning and i am confused as well by this. but ur second point is odd. what is the problem with ezio coming back after the attack? we have no idea when he will father a child. it makes perfect sense for him to come back and leaves no continuity error. Incomplete huge list of Apprentice names[edit source]

Hey Cello, may I deliver (as kindly as I can) an opinion regarding that section.

Here's my opinion: Couldn't we just make a shorter list of last names and first names, but not full names as listing every possible combination in the game is quite useless and too long. By what I seem, Thief, the names are not combinations. If you notice, first names and last names begin with the same letter, and all my apprentices in-game have the exact name as those listed in-wiki. I think apprentices and names are randomly generated, but the names aren't. I think we can make somthing like the projects userlisting, with a scroll, you know? Do what you think its best, but let's ascertain the accucracy of the data, their names are good trivia =] -- D. Cello 01:09, April 10, 2011 (UTC)

Possible Link Failure[edit source]

Greetings D. Cello, I just thought I should bring to your attention a possible link failure in the Wiki. On the header part of the screen, where it says 'Community', I noticed that under that heading, where it says 'Featured users' the link isn't working. Monuments in Brotherhood[edit source]

Hello. I was just playing Assassin's Creed Brotherhood. Great game. But I don't get one thing:

Is there any point of buyig the monuments in Rome? The city income increases more by renovating shops or Aqueducts. I don't see any use of buying them apart from any achievements it may unlock, which I am not interested in.--Nisheeth (Leave message)-- 16:09, April 21, 2011 (UTC)

AC2 questions...[edit source]

Hey Cello, I have a problem on AC2. When I was fighting with a brute, he hit my "Scimitar" and it fell. After killing him I searched for my sword but I did not find it, I went to buy a new one but the vendor said that I already both it.


How do I get it back?

I don't want to buy the Altair's Sword.

Also on my PS3 I have an achievment for AC2, the name is in Russian (an error of my PS3) and I can't tell the original name, but I know that I must have a combination of Cloth and Armor. What combination?

I need that achievment, please explain me how to get it. (I'm on 87%).

Mission at th Panteon (ACB)[edit source]

I saw Assassin's Creed Brotherhood Diary (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pjPT7oC2il0) And when you get to skip through 2.20min, you see a mission in front the pantheon that I have not found anywhere in the game, But you can clearly see that it is a gameplay. Does anyone know how I can play this mission or how it is that I can not? By the way: I have Assassins Creed Brotherhood Codex Edition

News blog post for Assassin's Creed Revelations[edit source]

I don't have ability to edit the blog post, but the information pertaining to the double-headed eagle (blog says Seljuks and Holy Roman Empire used it) is totally false...the specific double-headed eagle shown belongs to the Paleologan dynasty, the last Byzantine emperors to rule Constantinople before the Sultan Mehmed of the Ottoman Empire conquered it in 1453 (also ending the Byzantine Empire's 1000+ year existence). Entry for the Palaiologoi on Wikipedia.

It is the most famous and widel recognized emblem for the Byzantine Empire.

The Paleologan dynasty's version does not show the double headed eagle holding the apple of eden on one side and the sword on the other, as seen during the teaser. But the real world image I have included has something which could be accepted at that, have a look for yourself. Look, on the blog I was just informing users of it's relevance and possible meaning, I wasn't mentioning every instance of the eagle's appearance. That's for an article, not a blog.

Agreed, but we both know that the game has used a degree of artistic license on the eagle and I would say that even mentioning the Seljuks and HRE are more in line with "listing" double headed eagles than informing users of relevance and possible meaning of the double-headed eagle. The Seljuks and HRE are obliquely related to the eagle at best and are not direct derivatives of the Paleologan one, which the teaser trailer clearly is. In Assassin's Creed's "revisionist" history, the eagle depicted clearly belongs to that of the Palailogoi, adjusted to have the symbols from the game (apple, etc.); the tie is immediately apparent since they were the last rulling dynasty of the Byzantines/Romans in Constantinople before the Ottomans conquered it. The game (as far as we know) will not take place in the territories of the HRE (who have nothing to do with Constantinople) and the Seljuks were long ago absorbed by the Ottomans prior to their capture of Constantinople.

I just think if you're going to have some oblique references, you should put that the eagle in the image has the strongest resemblance to the Paleologus eagle...the Seljuk and HRE are more along the lines of "mentioning every instance of the eagle's appearance" since they have far less in correlation to the image in question than the Palaeologan one. I bought Assassin's Creed the first day it came out in 2007, and ever since playing the first game I have wanted them to set the series in Constantinople at some point; I also minored in Byzantine history in college. No, this is not an article, but that doesn't mean we can't strive for historical accuracy and relevance, even in the fictional setting of this game. My 2 cents. Uncrazimatic 18:11, May 6, 2011 (UTC)

XChat[edit source]

9/10 when it's disconnecting like that it's usually your internet set up. whether it's wireless, or a faulty router, etc.

It probably happened on mibbit but the thing with mibbit is you never notice it happen because mibbit tries to keep you connected as long as possible until your internet comes back online and it reconnects you seemlessly. XChat however, doesn't do that because you're connecting directly to the IRC server, not going through a passthrough such as mibbit. Mibbit you connect to one server, and that server connects to the IRC server.

Only problems everyone else is having when I set them up with XChat is the "corrupt coding" error, which is where I had them crack the pay version, but then I am having them install the free version and use that instead (same one you're using) and they're not having the same problem you are.

I can't say for sure what the exact problem is that you're having, but I can tell you chances are you're only noticing the disconnects now because you're not connecting through a passthrough connection.

Hey, mate. Well, the apprenticeship is a initiative created to scan our numbers for staff-material users. There are many good editors, many community-friendly users, but the ones we look for have both those qualities, and the best even have some leadership skills in the mix.
The Apprenticeship is our way of teaching new users how to unleash their full awesome potential on wiki and, if ready, join our ranks as staff.
The process is basically the following: The user interested joins the program and is given the rank of novice. After passing a interview with an admin, they are choosen by one of our avaiable masters and become apprentices. After a unspecified period trainign under his/her master that may last as long as necessary, the apprentice progress through ranks up to Assassin, where they are then judged worthy or nor of joining our Order's rank as Istruttore and join their place on my squad besides the rest of this wiki's best of best, and may then pick their own apprentice for mastership.
