Reward[edit source]

For my reward I decline the title of Wiki Visionary and humbly accept the title of Wiki Seer, which also comes with double the prize money. Beyond that, just pass on the good word, rig a vote or two in my favor, topple a few world governments and we shall call it even ;) Oh and let people know that who made it :)

I dropped the opacity to 60% but I'll drop it further to 40%. Shift reload to see the changes. I left both the 60% and 80% in the css, just uncomment whatever you need. Cheers mate! -- tierrie talk contr 09:14, November 13, 2010 (UTC)

sry to bother you[edit source]

hi, i'm Jérôme Reille

i've created and am currently maintaining the italian Wars page, but i have a tiny problem.

i was wondreing if you could point me in the right direction.

Question 1

I'm using as a browser Flock (based on firefox, tweaked for facebook and other social communities)

i have one quirk i cannot seem to get arround:

when i log into the wikia.com using my facebook connect everything *is fine*

but when I then go edit the page, i am doing so as anonymous... my cookies are good, i've checked that...

any idea why this is happening? .. ^^

Question 2

new to the wikia community i was wondering if there is a way to leave comments on a page for people who would want to edit it, but not people who just want to read it.

i have put at botom of page a note saying "under construction", but was wondering if that could appear only to people who would want to edit it... ?

i'm getting acb tomorrow, can't wait. have fun.

Hey, Jerome. With the first question, I can't help, cause I don't use that nor I'm a geek or nerdy guy. Second: the whole purpose of the wiki is to read AND write, so it is expected your users edit it without further input for you. Keep in mind that if your wiki s new and/or your subject is not very popular, yoy may have a slow start. Also, more important than the content of a wiki, are the community of it. Keep in mind that by growing the numbers and caring about your users, you will have a more solid and stable site. More users, more articles. More articles, more visibility, which leads to more users. It's basic knowledge. Without it, no wiki is anything. Send word if you need more assitance. -- D. Cello 03:55, November 17, 2010 (UTC)

Hi Jerome, i saw those pages are in revamp category, i can help you just tell me what does it need. Post it on my talk page.

Use IE and sign in directly, not throught facebook..

Sub-page for Gallery[edit source]

Hey Cello. Just a suggestion. I saw the gallery section for Ezio's page, and numerous bastards added promotional pictures of Ezio, and old pictures that Zwoosh had on his page. That ain't a bad thing (It's obvious those bastards did it for the badges) but, rather than remove some pics, I have an idea. Why don't we create a sub-page for some characters that have too much pictures? This idea ain't original, I was inspired by the Avatar Wiki and Wookiepedia's ideas. Here is an example of one of the Avatar wiki's gallery pages. So, what you say? BTW, this place is in chaos :| --WarClownWanna Talk? 11:18, November 21, 2010 (UTC)

I turn my back to vacation three days and things go to hell? oO What's going on, War? and about the sub-page idea, go for it! ;D -- D. Cello 21:11, November 21, 2010 (UTC)
That's a good idea, War. But wouldn't* giving these users a whole page to add pictures in be even more chaotic (Call of Duty wiki tried it, and there's every single screenshot in the world on those pages, they even had to remove the badge system :O)? I say just sift out the bad, and unnecessary pictures and keep the gallery on that one page for eye-candy and easy navigation purposes, I don't think it's exactly hell, if you know what you're doing :).
-*or is it would giving these users a whole page-- I'm tired.. haha. --THIEF 21:16, November 21, 2010 (UTC)

@Cello - I have no idea how everything went to hell. I haven't been around much, been playing too much of Brotherhood. Yeah, really awesome. Best AC..no, Best Game Ever!

@Thief - Good point. A sub-page could be a gateway for medal abusers to gain more points, but think about this instead; a lot of other websites depend on us for information (GameFaqs and deviantArt are good examples of them) and a lot of people come here to read stuff about their favorite game. A lot of people download awesome images we took from other websites, and also images we took from the game itself. My main point: people come to us. Ezio and some other characters have some very awesome images that readers might use as wallpapers or whatever the hell they want to do with it. A sub-page can help them in looking for some decent images to use. Besides, this ain't just a simple dumpster for images. We can turn it into an organized archive for images. We can sort pictures by periods, years, specific categories or whatever. Here's a sample of the format:

Ezio Auditore da Firenze/Gallery

Solo Images
w/ Others
In-Game Images
Assassin's Creed II
Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood
Promotional Images

That's just a sample mind you. If you have better categories in mind, I'm all ears. So, change your mind? Whatever your decision will be, I'll respect it wholeheartedly. --WarClownWanna Talk? 13:31, November 23, 2010 (UTC)

Alright, that convinces me; then. I know that list is just a sample, but I think it would be more ethical to have it like this:
Ezio Auditore da Firenze/Gallery

:: Assassin's Creed II

::: Solo Images
::: In-Game Images (Most are going to be in-game anyway)
::: Promotional Images
:: w/ Others

:: Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood

:: Solo Images
:: w/ Others
::: Promotional Images
What do you think? BTW I saw that cool userbox redirect you created for extended galleries, pretty good stuff although in my opinion it needs to be a bit bigger. :P Really awesome idea. --THIEF 06:30, November 27, 2010 (UTC)
Haha, awesome! A lot more organized. And I made the box bigger. Gonna make it an official template now. --WarClownWanna Talk? 06:45, November 27, 2010 (UTC)
Schweet! Also, just to let you know. I'm programming my own bot for use in this wiki, it's going to be fixing spelling errors, the special i fixes in Altaïr, and some other stuff. :) --THIEF 07:06, November 27, 2010 (UTC)
And...success! We have created a sub-gallery for Ezio! I'll organize it later :D About the bot, awesome idea. Watch out though. I heard they tend to go berserk sometimes. --WarClownWanna Talk? 07:50, November 27, 2010 (UTC)
And it already went... As Jacques le Blanc said to Thief in his talk page, the bot is messign with filenames.
Altough the idea is very good, this is somehting you should have predicted, Thief. Try to add a exception for File: namespaces or you will have to check every single image and make sure it's corrected. Think in long terms, plan ahead, mate. -- D. Cello 05:28, November 28, 2010 (UTC)
Agreed. So Cello, what you think of the new sub-gallery? Still haven't organized them though, working on the timeline so, sorry about that =/ BTW, I changed the Welcome Template. What you think of it now? Jacques le BlancReception Area 05:44, November 28, 2010 (UTC)
Actually, D.; he is also programmed to move, or rename filenames. Don't worry, it'll sort itself out. And if it doesn't, i'll revert. ;P --THIEF 06:19, November 28, 2010 (UTC)
Mkay Cello and War, he/it is fixing everything up now. Of course maybe 1 or 2 files will become weird (due to fusspots actually naming the file with the ï in it), but that's always to be expected when we try something for the first time and the chances of those images being in actual articles is slim. I hope you're not dissapointed with this guy, he's darn awesome at fixing these ascii characters and such and I don't want this bot starting off with a bad rep, also Cello; I did tell you at the bottom of your talk that I was activating it, I've only given it one task; so I did take precautions :P. So, what do you think of Veetor? Just reply at the section I created hours ago at the bottom of this page. :P Cheers! And by god, talk to the robot at his page! Encourage the screwhead so he won't stuff up again! --THIEF 06:37, November 28, 2010 (UTC)

still stumped

why is heavy weapons armor and assassins creed brotherhood not in categories

Fõr starters: please don't add categories, a revamp is coming soon and anyone adding pages will only make it harder. And I just saw your Desmond's backpack page, please write in a civilized way. Write the RIGHT names with proper capitalziation, punctuation and grammar. -- D. Cello 03:27, November 23, 2010 (UTC)
Also, DON'T refere to games. This is a encyclopedia, nto agame guide, so nothign like "this appeared on brotherhood on sequence 3" or whatever. And tri to add links. And try to use templates correctly. And ALWAYS sign your posts. Really, man, just read everything on the helping out section, specially the tutorial and manual of style. -- D. Cello 03:30, November 23, 2010 (UTC)

Hey D. Cello[edit source]

Hey mate, could you please explain your changes to the main page revamp? The older way was, in my opinion more spaced out and less squished (looked better too), as well as easier to navigate with. Maybe you could convince me as to why it's better how it is now. On another note, the Community HUB links to the portal template, we going to tune up that page later? :D

Cheers! --THIEF 05:14, November 23, 2010 (UTC)

I don't have to convince you of ANYTHING, Thief. As for the current layout, I'm changing it a little (we need to ad things such as the FA box in there somewhere somehow) and until I finish, I would appreciate if nobody changed it. Later, if you don't like it, you can give me a good reason to revert it. Just like we did with the skin: I managed to finish the white, people complained it was too bright, so I changed it again, and it is still awesome.
And the hub button only goes to the protal:assassins wiki if you don;t give time enough for the java to load it. If you wait a coupel of seconds, it stays on main page. (and I would really appreciate if you didn't change important things like the main page without even asking me first. You completely removed the link and purpose of the hub button with that last edit. Order, Thief... order.)
Are we clear? ;D -- D. Cello 17:01, November 23, 2010 (UTC)
Sorry, mate :(. BTW; the new background skin is so awesome! Anyway, again with your reply; I didn't know about that java thing, I just went insane and clicked it straight away. Hahaha. I won't change it again, trust me, although I hope you consider what I said.. and yeah, we're clear. :D
By the way, you could easily slot the FA in replacement for the Newest Articles box/template. Then it would probably be a good idea to move that under the FM; then you'd need to shorten the forum template to only display about 2 new topics/threads and put that above the Helping Out template, so it fits neatly. If you can't do it, I guess I can try. By the way, this is totally off-topic but; I'm a creative artist (specialize in Writing, Drawing), not a coder. So don't think of me as some acne-ridden fatass if I manage to fix up a few codes :P. Because I ain't, hahahaah. Just thought I should get that across, ROFL. Wow, that was actually a pretty good quote, I might use that for my userpage! :]
Later, Cello. --THIEF 20:51, November 23, 2010 (UTC)
Aye, I don't consider you a technical guy ;D
The problem with FA is that I wanted it to be a box two columns wide, instead of one column like everything else. But I can't figure out how to do it. If you wanna give it a try at that, be my guest =] -- D. Cello 22:13, November 23, 2010 (UTC)

contact address needed[edit source]

Hello D.Cello,

I am writing you about a small matter. I personally don't know exactly what everything is all about, but an Ubisoft rep would need an contact address from you. If you could kindly help and see what this is all about, I would be happy to pass it on. And no, it's not a joke or whatever you think.

Thank you in advance,

DeeNuke.

Cheers, Dee. As odd as this may seem, the prospect is too important to pass up if it it's true. I can be contacted via this link. Mind me telling how this came to be? Thanks ;D -- D. Cello 17:29, November 25, 2010 (UTC)

I personally don't know the details. You can look at me as an unofficial intern. :) But, I do hope that everything will go well whatever it is. :) Thank you very much for your help.

Dee.

Ah, cool ^^ I don't like disclosing my email here anymore, there are dozens of rookies who'd try to bombard me with messages if I do x.x You have no idea how annoying it can be to open your inbox and see 30 messages like "hey dcello im new on wiki lol assassiscreed ftw lol well bye" or anything like it =P (btw, that was a actual excerpt XD) Tks, girl. =]
By your deviant page, seems you're into AC. Played Brotherhood already? -- D. Cello 17:42, November 25, 2010 (UTC)

Oh dear! I can only imagine. That's why I said, it might be weird, because disclosing e-mails in public is never ok. :) So I understand and is no problem. But people want to talk with you. LOL :)

Thats awesome a Ubirep wants to talk to you. :) AdminAuditor(e)Talk 20:32, November 25, 2010 (UTC)

OK D.Cello, you've got mail so... :) Please follow the "instructions". ;)

Hey DeeNuke, I'm just a bit curious as to how/why Ubisoft contacted you in the first place, are you affliated with them or something? :P Cheers, --THIEF 06:11, November 26, 2010 (UTC)

Also, sorry if that previous question is too personal or something on the offchance. If it is, for some reason; then don't worry about answering it. :D --THIEF 06:13, November 26, 2010 (UTC)

@THIEF for not too long ago I used to be a journalist, (technology and gaming) :) and that's how I am "related" to Ubisoft. I kept in touch with the team and since I spend $hitload of time on Internet, they just asked me if I could help. And I tried... :) Hopefully I could... That's all! :) Dee.

Ah, cool. That must be pretty awesome. Thanks! Hmm, I wonder what a Ubi Rep would want with this wiki.. I hope we're not in trouble for some reason. --THIEF 02:04, November 27, 2010 (UTC)

Brotherhood category fix[edit source]

Hey D, just wanted to let you know that I fixed the Brotherhood category page to include the nav buttons (like those used on the other categories). For some reason the editor allowed me to link up the buttons to certain categories, but it didn't allow the text underneath those buttons to link to a category. This might not make sense, so just check it out yourself if you wish. For now I've kept the under-button text bold. :P

BTW: The walkthrough is now finished and properly formatted thanks to myself and GuardDog, as well as a few other editors.

Check it out here. Cheers! --THIEF 03:27, November 27, 2010 (UTC)

Veetor-Bot 2.0[edit source]

Hey D., I don't have much time on the internet left, I'd like to refer you to this bot I am creating (http://assassinscreed.wikia.com/wiki/User:Veetor-Bot_2.0).

Read the page and you'll see its tasks (only one at the moment), etc.. If you like it, then please give it an awesome compliment or a high-five or something (maybe even a special place in the Staff Panel!). It can talk back. :D

New user[edit source]

Hi! Thanks for the message. I'm actually trying to set up an account, but it seems I can't under the name I want (taken username). Do you know if user names span the entire Wikia community, or just this Wiki? It's bothering me that every variation of the name I'm picking is "taken", although that may just be to prevent people from having similar names across the whole Wikia community... Thanks for your time! 142.161.83.213 02:47, November 30, 2010 (UTC)

Opacity[edit source]

Hi D. Cello. I know Tierrie was working with you guys on the awesome portal slider and stuff. I also see that he dropped the opacity level of the page to 40% (likely based on your request to go a "bit more transparent." I like semi-transparent skins (I made plenty of them for Monaco skin), but I've heard of complaints that the text (both normal text and link text) is hard to read here. I would have to agree based on the browsing I did just before typing this message. If it's ok with you, I would like to turn up the opacity a bit, and maybe use a brighter/whiter normal text color too, so that the text is easily readable on all pages while still keeping the page's transparency. Any objections? JoePlay<staff /> (talk) 19:45, December 1, 2010 (UTC)

I couldn't change the text color without changing the background (seems a limitation of the designer interface). The transparent background is far superior than that dull almsot opaque version, if you manage to make the text mroe readable without changing the back, it would be better. -- D. Brotherhood userbox code[edit source]

Hey D.
So I only joined the wiki a few days ago and i'm busy editing away and enjoying myself. Do you know if there is a userbox code for clearing Brotherhood? And if not, can we make one?

Problem with Awards[edit source]

Okay D, we might have a problem. It seems that I can't edit any one of the other user's userpage. How are we gonna award people now? I emphasized might, because it might just be me (and this buggy computer). Or I may be wrong. Jacques le BlancReception Area 12:21, December 3, 2010 (UTC)

Yeah, its a new Wikia feature. You can always award it to them on their userpage by giving them the 'super secret template code', then they use the code to add it to their userpage. Problem solved. ;-) --THIEF 12:32, December 3, 2010 (UTC)
Wow. I never thought of that. Seriously. Wow, what the hell am I smoking? xD Jacques le BlancReception Area 12:43, December 3, 2010 (UTC)

Re:Picture[edit source]

You reverted the trans version of this file, calling me "dense" in the process. What I'd like to know is, do you prefer images with white backgrounds in general? Also, I'm sorry about that, I didn't realize a white background was better. --Callofduty4 04:31, December 5, 2010 (UTC)

We already have a version of Niccolo page with a transparent back, and I added this one which clerly has "whiteback" on it's name. The summary of the picture is "for use in the grand masters article", where every single char pic there has a white background (so his must have too to keep it standardized) Then you went and added a transparent back oO You simply overlooked all that? oO -- D. Cello 23:17, December 5, 2010 (UTC)
I could have made the rest transparent too (though the Ezio picture would be a long shot). You didn't answer my question, would you rather have images with white backgrounds or transparent backgrounds? I mean anywhere on the site, not just that article. --Callofduty4 04:41, December 6, 2010 (UTC)
Variety is the key. Some main pictures are transparent and are good that way. DON'T change all pictures into transparent backgrounds, if that's what you're asking. The pictures with BH database chars can be made transparent, no problem. -- 16:57, December 6, 2010 (UTC)~
Cool, thanks for the help! --Callofduty4 01:52, December 11, 2010 (UTC)

Brotherhood Ending Re: Lucy[edit source]

I'm sure no one wants to talk about about this, but I couldn't sleep right for weeks since I saw that... whatever that was. I know from my experience with the series that you can't trust what you see, and I know that Ubisoft wouldn't just kill off a character that's been with the series since the very beginning. I've been telling myself that since that day, but now I need some else to tell me that. If anyone has an actual opinion based on facts and evidence, I'd appreciate it.--Pccraine 05:41, December 5, 2010 (UTC)

A Question about the truth.[edit source]

I've just finished assassin's creed II

I understand most of the truth and the past but two things are unclear to me, I hope you can help me understand. so we know the ancestors of the assassins were adam and eve.

But who were the first templars?

I've read and read and what I've found is that the first templar was actually cain the son of adam and eve. since in one of subject's 16 glyphs riddles we can see a picture of cain killing abel and taking a piece of eden from him, then we hear subject 16 says "behold the mark of cain!" which is the mark of the templars as well.

so from that we can assume cain was the first templar... but then the weird thing is- Adam and eve were hybrid childs of humans and their creatores, they gained some of the first civilization powers ( eagle vision) and also the immunity from the pieces of eden. Cain and abel were the sons of Adam and eve. if cain started the templars and was the first templar then all of the templars from then until 2012 are his lineage, if so then how come none of them has eagle vision or any other ablities? cain was still adam and eve's son. also how the war between the templers and assassins started? cain killed abel. there was no one to start a war against him or avenge abel.( I would assume the only hybrid linage was adam and eve's) and if that's correct then no one had powers but adam and eve and their lineage, all other humans were normal.

so if I sums it all up I still have no idea how come the templars has no powers and still don't understand who fought against cain with power as well to start the assassins side.

Also another uncertain thing, how is it so sure that adam and eve and their descendants had immunity against the piece of eden? I highly doubt it. eve had a piece of eden when they run away, I'm pretty sure that's the way they could resist the effect. I'm assuming they managed to get a hold of one piece.

in the final fight of assassin's creed II, eizo wasn't able to resist the staff's effect, the only way he did so was when he had the piece of apple. afterwards when the pope takes the apple from him he managed to controll eizo with the staff and hold him still and stab him, if eizo could resist it he would have.

same scenario happened with altair and al mualim, mualim managed to hold him still for long periods of times talking to him and altair couldn't resist at all.

I'm pretty sure they don't have any immunity at all. eve and adam, and eizo resisted only because they possesed a piece of eden. their only gain is the eagle vision.

Is there any info that proves me wrong?

I would like you hear your opinion about this, I don't know how this message system works here and how you can reply to me

Thanks.

Assassins are immune to the "psicological" effects of the POE, like forced slavery and mind-cleaning, but they aren't immune to the physical powers, like those blasts of energy, ilusions or paralysis. That's also why when Ezio uses then in Bh, the assassins don't cower in fear or have their brains destroyed, cause those are part of the psychological power of the apple.

I... haven't, mate oO Everything looks jsut dandy here. -- D. Cello 02:36, December 9, 2010 (UTC)

I have a question about a certain subject from ac2-

glyph number 20 in ac2- so I checked here about it and you/staff team says that the file indicates that the Templars planted false fossil evidence for human evolution, so as to hide the truth of humanity's history.
now I remember there was a screen that you move a piece of eden across a gorilla/monkey's skeleton and it changes to a human skeleton. couldn't it mean the TWCB created us from monkeys? like they changed monkeys into humans with the pieces of edens and since the brain changed too they could have design it the way they want.
I would think that makes more sense than them creating humans out of nothing.

Slatexz

Humans were created by accelerating the evolution of existing species. This is from the "Humans" article on this Wiki: "Artificially developed by drastically altering the pre-existing genetic make-up of native species, the creation of humanity left a sizeable gap in terms of transitional species between archaic hominids and modern humans." So yeah, humans weren't created from nothing. OZZY 08:22, December 10, 2010 (UTC)

OZZY

so that would mean the humans were created out of monkeis with the use of the pieces of eden, right?

or what else could existing species mean? I think the scenario that was on glyph number 20, the monkey skeleton and moving the piece of eden across it makes it changes into a human skeleton indicates that those who came before used the piece of eden on monkies to create humans. ---- Slatexz

Yeah, that's what I gathered from it, that Those Who Came Before accelerated the growth of apes and created humans using the Pieces of Eden. OZZY 04:44, December 11, 2010 (UTC)

Well that's what I think too but according to wikia it is not true, according to their explaination the templars lied and said we devoloped from apes.

that's why I wanted to discuss it. ---- Slatexz

Article revamp question[edit source]

The Message You Sent Me[edit source]

D. Cello, I changed the religion to spiritual because the Auditores are not atheists and the in game text proves it, but it also does not specify Ezio's religion. Please allow me to change and keep the religion to spiritual or religious. Thank you.

In AC Brotherhood on the first or second Cristina Mission, Ezio states that he must give his family proper funeral rites so that they may move on to the next world. I'm not an expert but I am fairly sure that atheists don't believe in the afterlife. Thank you for reading this.
P.S. If you agree with me would you please tell Jasca Ducato to lay off and stop changing the religion to atheist.
Yours truly,
Frozenchroma 23:26, December 18, 2010 (UTC)Frozenchroma

Assassin's Creed II: Discovery supposedly stated that Ezio was an atheist. That info is from a canonical game, while yours is clearly your own opinion. Look you ignorant shemlen, wikis value facts above all else, and that especially includes speculation. Based on what I read from sources I'm too damn lazy to state, it seems like you pissed people off more than pleased them. We already have enough theorists here, good ones who now there place. You on the other hand, are putting your theories on pages, and that can be considered as an offense (and a good enough reason to block you)

Cello's the main man. He'll decide if you'll get blocked or not. But if it were up to me, I'd severe your head and mount it somewhere in Ostagar, and then feed your body to the Mabari hounds. That's just me though. Dareth shiral. Jacques le BlancReception Area 05:25, December 19, 2010 (UTC)

Frozenchroma, you have to remember that at that point in Ezio's life, he hasn't gone to the Vault at the end of ACII and found out that much of history (especially our beginnings) is a lie. So yes, they would have been originally Roman Catholic, just like every other family in Italy, but at the very least after the end of ACII, Ezio is more than likely no longer religious (at least how they would have viewed it in the 1600's in Italy). Although, I'm not sure if Ezio's views should speak for the entire House, but thats another matter I'm not going to comment on. -- A Black Rabbit 07:14, December 19, 2010 (UTC)

Seriously, you don't have to be like that. And the Vault doesn't disprove anything, it only alters it. Besides some more evidence is as follows: Giovanni was brought up Catholic, Ezio tells his victims to rest in peace (In Italian), and Ezio speaks of God as if he believed. Anyway, if I find anymore evidence I'll let you know.

P.S. Jacques, I am not placing my opinions on pages, I'm concerned with the accuracy of the article and I'm trying to do my job just like you, so try to cool it with the insults.

Sincerely,

Hi,

Machiavelli was never Grand Master, despite what the Grand Master page says, I have on my blog gave some prove as to why this is the case, i have tried telling this to Master Sima but what i have shown him seems to be fallign on deaf ears, so i thought i would ask you on your opinions, and please if you agree with master show me proof, as i already have proven De facto leader does not mean he was grand master. Picture preferences[edit source]

Hey D. I know you're away currently, but I thought I'd post this for when you get back. I'll also be posting this message on the others talk pages.

Right, firtstly: Something that has been bugging me for a little while now is the number of pictures on this wiki that depict Ezio in a variety of different colour robes that, canonically, we don't know he ever wore. It's all well and good to assume that, since the option to dye clothes is in-game he canonically did it, but which colour, and when? The same goes for the armour. I think we need to take a good look at all the pictures on-site that depict Ezio wearing coloured robes and, if possible, replace them with similar photos showing Ezio in white robes (and if possible without armour).

My second point is the number of photos on site that, unfortunately, include some of the, for lack of a better word, "Animus glow". A prime example of what I mean can be seen in :File:Beatup2.png|this photo, which shows Ezio's target in a white glow. Now, unless the image is being used to depict something explicitly related to the Animus, I think we should once again replace all these photos with something that does not show the Animus glow.

I know this will probably take some time, and be a large amount of work, but I do think it will be a positive contribution to the wiki, as well as a positive form of mutual interaction between the site's contributors. What do you think? --Jasca Ducato Council Chamber Assassination record 19:48, January 7, 2011 (UTC)

Hey Jasca. I'm already back, mate ;D
Yourconcern is well placed. you have green light on whenever you wish to do to make it happen. Two conditions: Keep me in the loop everytime, and only replace pictures when we have a suitable replacement. I don't want empty spaces when we have useful pictures around, nor I want surprises.
Good luck. -- D. Cello 00:03, January 8, 2011 (UTC)

Main page[edit source]

Hey D. I don't know if you've noticed, but it looks as if somebody has messed up a little on the main page, all i'm seeing is part of the coding for the main page; I can't see the featured pics, new articles, blog posts, nothing. It may just be my browser playing tricks, but if I'm honest, I doubt it. Thought you might want to take a look into it. --Jasca Ducato Council Chamber Assassination record 14:40, January 10, 2011 (UTC)

Whoa. What happened? I viewed the Main Page's history, and it's recent edit was a revert from you, Cello. I doubt that's the reason why it's messed up, but...I don't know what other reason there is for the commotion. --Jacques le BlancReception Area 14:44, January 10, 2011 (UTC)

Holy arse of a parisian girl oO
Well, every single portal page is messed up, which shows the problem is not in coding or edits made (that revert edit of mine was made in November). By the look of it, I would say it's some change to the common.css code or some sort of revert to our secondary database pre-portal implementation. Problem is, I can't find no record of anyone editing anything, which indicates it's a Wikia problem. Maybe they are adding some feature to our wiki or updating codes and did something wrong accidentally (as you know, our wiki is a constant proving ground, most future improvements are tested by us first XD e.g. lack of red links, wiki-statistics on userpages, badges, and so on).
I'll contact Wikia about it, and let you know if they answer before it fixes itself. Thanks for warning me, guys ;D -- D. Cello 15:40, January 10, 2011 (UTC)

Alright, fixed! It was a bloody vandal in a obscure portal template page (page which is already protected). Let me know if something like it happens. -- D. Cello 16:24, January 10, 2011 (UTC)

D. Cello[edit source]

Hi mate, please don't get all pissy. ;)

I just wanted to let you know that the whole idea of that Working Revamp template was because of conflicts-- most browsers back buttons don't work like firefox's (therefore their work is not saved and they cannot copy/paste), another reason was for people with slow internet-- when an edit is conflicted on someone with crap internet it can be a real hassle.

--THIEF 02:01, January 11, 2011 (UTC)

Just a note, you both do know that on the "Edit Conflict" page both the saved edit, and the edit that was conflicted are visable, don't you? You just have to scroll down, so there's no need to press 'back' or copy edits or anything like that. --Jasca Ducato Council Chamber Assassination record 02:06, January 11, 2011 (UTC)
I'm too lazy to scroll down and sort out my text, Jasca, I prefer to press back XD And I use Chrome Thief, not Firefox. -- D. Cello 02:21, January 11, 2011 (UTC)
Yes, but doesn't copying that section add weird formatting or something? Last time I did that it added a weird <deleted table> template-like thing.. --THIEF 04:37, January 11, 2011 (UTC)
I'm gonna have to agree with Thief here. I only noticed the reword on the template just now. The whole point of the working revamp template was to stop other users from editing the page, so as to not cause any Edit Conflicts. Minor or no, it should wait for the moment if the page's currently being revamped. I've had too many edit conflicts ever since I came here, and I can tell you, sorting through those overly long paragraphs I made, pared with template codes and pictures, written in source I might add, is a very tedious job. It's like redoing your work all over again. The back button doesn't always save your work you know. It failed me more than once in the past, even now. But, as always, I'm gonna get my ass handed over with a reasonable comeback from you Cello, so yeah. This was my point. Just felt that I needed to get this out in the open. That is all, as you were. --Jacques le BlancReception Area 13:08, January 11, 2011 (UTC)

I'm kinda surprised Sima gave it a go while I was gone, given that he was the one who cried over we having staff merits but find it alright when the staff forbidens other users from editing a article just to make "revamp easier". And your text is added below the normal edit box in another box, so you don't need to syphon throught text, War. ;D
I realize you was the one who created the template, Niccolo, and you and Thief must be reminded of some things: Administrator. It usually boils down to these four things:

  • 1) Respect the privacy of others.
  • 2) Think before you type.
  • 3) With great power comes great responsibility.
  • 4) Just because you can press the button doesn't mean you should.

So just because you ARE above others in wiki hierarchy, you need not cut their rights without a good reason (like vandalism or personal attacks), and even though you are above most, you still are below me.

Forbidding someone from editing an article for no reason is completely against the very foundation and idea of a wiki, and I won't let it happen.

Are we clear?
-- D. Cello 14:56, January 11, 2011 (UTC) --

The template isn't limited to just staff. Just anyone who is willing to revamp the page. And it is working out well, though you have got a big point there. -- Master Sima Yi 15:20, January 11, 2011 (UTC)
This was never really about hierarchy. Other regulars have used the template too (AssassinRome being one of them). If you're talking about the anons, then I get your point. But about having no valid reason reason for forbidding them, we do (I think). It's because the page is under construction, being reworked, revamped. I like to think of it as one of those random signs you see when you're driving down the road or something (things like, "Work-in-progress" or "Warning. We're upgrading our facilities", or something else). We are the staff, right? We run the show (in a way). So if something goes wrong, it's our job to fix it. Things like this are done only for the better of the wiki, and if anons (and our readers) love the wiki enough to help us, then I'm sure they won't mind if we do our job.
It's only temporary, it's not like the workload is going to take months before it's finished, unlike the real "Work-in-progress" signs you see. I tried before, other ways to warn users not to edit a page (I write in the summary textbox "Do not touch" ). It's like I'm being a douchebag, if you get me. But yet again, as I type this, I feel that I've overlooked something important. Something that will no doubt backfire. I'll just read what follows this text.
How ironic. Discussing a template that can stop edit conflicts, when the discussion itself gets an edit conflict. This was the most hilarious edit conflict I've experienced. xD --Jacques le BlancReception Area 15:25, January 11, 2011 (UTC)
Yep, I have to agree with the rest (besides D. Cello). Also, personally I reckon War's template is an amazing idea-- I've seen a small bunch of editors use it (and it only stays up on an average article for at least 15-20minutes). I'm pretty sure Call of Duty wiki had one of these too, and obviously quite a few people agree with me-- and no, we are not stopping people from editing an article simply "for no reason". It's for the best of the article and therefore the wiki. And anyway, stopping one or two users from fixing a typo or adding a few sentences in isn't that big of a deal-- the current editor might see those errors, or the other user can simply wait and edit later (typos/errors are pretty easy to spot too, so if one user doesn't get a chance to edit, another would; surely.)
Don't think that this template would be put up every two seconds-- it only goes up for extremely MAJOR REVAMPS. And talking about Sima's negative opinion of an extremely favored idea to successfully bring up your negative opinion on a favored idea is really wrong, mate. Cheers :D, --THIEF 23:59, January 12, 2011 (UTC)
We are not doing it. Period. You can very well edit without forbiding anyone of anything. We done it for months already, live with that. -- D. Cello 00:01, January 13, 2011 (UTC)
Just letting you know, you gunned down about six happy opinions just then to get your opinion above all else. Are you really confident in your opinion (it had a lot of misunderstandings in it)? Everyone else thinks this is an awesome idea, and it's not going to be used much at all. XD You should really learn to see things through first and if it fails horribly then eliminate the template. Quite a few users are happy with this template- it surely can't destroy the whole Wiki, can it? Okay, now I'm done, if this doesn't change your mind; then i'll have to stop.. haha, no telling if War Clown or Sima would though. :P --THIEF 00:09, January 13, 2011 (UTC)
"You should really learn to see things"? Listen to yourself, and learn your place, child. Of course I'm confident, I wouldn't take a decision trivial as this if I was in doubt. You guys are making this a matter of authority and personal taste, and you're NOT thinking in the whole picture. We almost never have trouble with edit conflicts, and it is against the spirit of this wiki to forbid anyone of anything edit-realted unless they misbehave themselves. The template stays as it is. -- D. Cello 00:25, January 13, 2011 (UTC)
Alright, boss. Lighten up a bit, Cello. :). This isn't an argument over life and death, :P I'm pretty sure Altair (Cedric) went mostly absent because of all the arguements you guys had. --THIEF 00:35, January 13, 2011 (UTC)
What he said was "You should really learn to see things through", from "to see through". He wasn't offensive, child. -- Master Sima Yi 06:46, January 13, 2011 (UTC)
What you guys sometimes don't understand is that some decisions I take, as controversial as they seem first, will prove better on the long run. Sure, this is just a trivial word disagreement, but from a "don't edit this or else" in a article for 10 minutes to a "side of the eye look to a moderator = life ban" is a very short step. Power is attractive, and some people can't handle the taste of it. No decision I ever made was wrong, so I only ask you to trust me on this one.
And about Altaïr, if he is absent thanks to a discussion and minor difference of oppinion, we just got a new sysop position open. -- D. Cello 00:40, January 13, 2011 (UTC)
Yeah, alright boss, no worries. And lighten up :D! I think Altair logs in every once in a while-- but it's rare. --THIEF 00:43, January 13, 2011 (UTC)
Now that you mention it, from November 24 to January 6, he didn't edited anything. thank you for bringing this to my attention, Thief. -- D. Cello 01:02, January 13, 2011 (UTC)

Alright, let's see if I can get my point straight, my PS3 just died out, and I'm not really in the mood. How the template is now, the working revamp, in essence, it's basically a more customized version of the original Revamp template. What's written in it, it's like...basically what's written in the Revamp template, except with a name, and a cool-looking image. I'll try to get my point out here.

We are the staff. The others respect us, as much as we respect you, Cello. We are staff, because we keep the equilibrium around these parts. I already said this, we're like a facility. And when we post that template on pages, it means we are currently upgrading our facility, just like a Shell Gas Station upgrades theirs, or a mall, renovating half of its facilities. Viewed and used by the public, what we write here is considered fact. A lot of people have come here, reading what we've written. Here's my point (I think): Not all the pages and articles here are in great shape. As the staff, it is our job to keep things on the up and up, and it is our job to clean up everything. This job is like a public service to others, the people of the internet. And, we've accomplished so much. I know people have come to respect our wishes, I've used the template before the reword, and not a soul has touched what I was working on. What does that mean to you? It means they get what we're doing. We're cleaning up the mess, and they respect us enough to do so. They know that this isn't an easy job, maintaining a public site, and they're cooperating, believe it or not. They want to know more about the series. We are here to provide. You of all people know this, Cello.

You think the anons can clean a major mess? Maybe. But I don't. That's what the staff, us, are here for. If the anons can clean a major mess, it means they can maintain everything around here, and if they can do that, then what the hell are we here for? This template can be considered as a new part of our equipment. You may detest it, but if what I've written can get through you, and if you listen carefully to the opinions of the others, then maybe you'll finally accept it. And in time, who knows? Maybe you yourself might use it too.

Okay, that's everything I have to say. Anyways, if I sounded a bit douchey, a bit...douchebag-gy, like I "don't know my place" or something else, then please, forgive me. I was just trying to get my point out there for everyone to see. If that doesn't get to you, or to anyone else for that matter, then this was a complete waste of time. --Jacques le BlancReception Area 09:48, January 13, 2011 (UTC)

Well, after reading your second-last paragraph, Cello, it seems that this was indeed a waste of time. Well.....whatever. --Jacques le BlancReception Area 10:12, January 13, 2011 (UTC)
Haha, a bit late; War. This arguement ended hours ago. --THIEF 12:31, January 13, 2011 (UTC)
Big text you wrote there, it was a pain to read with lines all over it XD War, the only difference in our POV's are: I think people can respect your staffy warning of edit if you say "please don't edit for a time", while you believe they only would respect a "Don't edit or get blocked!" warning.
Virtu, War. Virtu. -- D. Cello 15:03, January 13, 2011 (UTC)
Argh, damn it! Read it before I could erase it. Well, I respect your decision mentore. I'll reword the template tomorrow, but I doubt I'll be using it anytime soon. Sh*t happened. And that's all about this discussion. Hehe, it's amazing how the hierarchy around here meshes with the hierarchy at AC. Coincidence? :D --Jacques le BlancReception Area 15:15, January 13, 2011 (UTC)

:::What he said was "You should really learn to see things through", from "to see through". He wasn't offensive, child. -- Master Sima Yi 06:46, January 13, 2011 (UTC)

@Master Sima Yi Haha, I know. What I said had a really different meaning to what he thought I said, I know I wasn't being offensive at all but I didn't correct him anyway.. he was already extremely pissed. Haha --THIEF 23:22, January 13, 2011 (UTC)
Also, D. Cello. Altair, by the looks of things doesn't check here at all and doesn't contribute. He only visits his talk page when someone messages him (and he gets an e-mail). So he's partly active, but doesn't contribute. If you know what I mean? I'm really tired. --THIEF 23:22, January 13, 2011 (UTC)

Autocomplete Bug[edit source]

Heya matey! You may have noticed that autocomplete isn't working. This is because wikia uses jQuery autocomplete 1.0.6 while I link directly to the most recent jquery-ui.min.js file. I fixed this by creating a custom jQuery UI file without autocomplete.

You will need to do 2 things to fix the bug. 1. Create MediaWiki:jquery-ui.min.js and copy the one from Dragon Age over. 2. Edit MediaWiki:common.js and make the following revision. Remove change the load link to the static version on Assassin's Creed. Alternatively you can link to the Dragon Age jquery-ui.min.js as I have done to automatically update in the future.

Let me know if you have any questions. -- tierrie talk contr 20:50, January 11, 2011 (UTC)

Error on homepage[edit source]

Hey D. Cello. I saw on your homepage that you use the {{NUMBEROFUSERS}} template tag in your statistics, which currently shows that you have over 2 million accounts. Interested in this feature, I tried it out on my wiki and got roughly the same number. So I tried it on the biggest gaming wiki (World of Warcraft) and again got almost the same number. After a bit of snooping around Wikia central, I found out that {{NUMBEROFUSERS}} template displays the total number of accounts created on Wikia as a whole, and not just on one wiki. I just thought that I should let you know.--Klock101 14:01, January 13, 2011 (UTC)

I was not the one who added that statistic, but first time I saw it, I tought it might be the case XD Thanks for the heads-up, mate. If you happen to find a way to auto-update a single wiki active users' number, please let me know =) -- D. Cello 15:01, January 13, 2011 (UTC)

AC2 not working properly[edit source]

I completed Assassin's Creed 2. Then I decided to gplay through the game again. But when I reach Ace Up My Sleeve : I go to Leonardo; He gives us the hidden blade; then when Ezio is putting on the blade the scene stops. There is no way to progress further, I can yet change the weapons (which are only medicine, Fists and the Blade) or Aborl the memory. I have tried Reinstalling the Game but it doesn't work. Can you tedd what is the problem. Nisheeth 15:01, January 13, 2011 (UTC) Nisheeth

No idea oO Contact Ubisoft. =P -- D. Cello 15:12, January 13, 2011 (UTC)
You have to click RMB and unleash the hidden blade. --THIEF 23:09, January 13, 2011 (UTC)

Signature not working[edit source]

Hey Cello, just thought I would ask you if you know why my signature is not working, it posts the info that I wrote whatever and the time and date but does not put a link on my username, I have tried it out numerous times and it just won't work. Any ideas? I'll sign this post as normal with the four tildes, but of it doesn't work here is a link to my profile-> Link

Sick-Steen 22:21, January 13, 2011 (UTC)

Well, I see you;ve changed your username at the setings. When not using the default sig, you need to create a link too, nto jsut write the name you want. So you would need to put two colons, vertical bars, and etc. Know what I mean? oO (I'm really sleepy right now) -- D. Cello 01:14, January 14, 2011 (UTC)
Ahhh! I just cant seem to get it working, sorry if I'm bugging you Cello, but if you have a sec could you just make an examle code and i'll just enter my data then, Cheers! : ( p.s i have not linked my name below through the 4 tildes method. I have done it arse ways!
--Sick-Steen 02:22, January 14, 2011 (UTC)
What you just did above, do on your sig in the settings. -- D. Cello 02:32, January 14, 2011 (UTC)
