Medal Wrong-ings[edit source]

I don't think these people do it on purpose, but they add random spaces to certain articles (or it might be a fault in the wiki), and on the timeline made over 25 edits just adding periods to the end of the sentences, he added these periods seperatley and individually and got more points (IE: Add period to sentence > Save Page > Add period to another sentence > Save Page > repeated about 20 times), this has resulted in him gaining the timeline medals and 50 + edit medal. When he acts normally he has some good information and great edits, but this is a bit unfair.

Similiar actions is adding (a lot of) links (This is to the timeline also), instead of adding a group of links at once, he adds one, then saves, then adds one again, etc.

Perhaps these guys don't know they're doing something bad, because their other edits are pretty good and helpful, maybe these guys don't know that you can edit the whole page at once instead of pressing edit on the sub headings, then saving, then pressing edit on another sub heading. Maybe you should give them a warning or something, I only ask this because it's unfair on users who actually add information. :)

Edit: For some reason my post gets merged with another, so I'm posting my text here I hope you don't mind. >.<

Thanks in advance,

Wiki Policies[edit source]

Sure, Cello. I'll give it a shot. :D

How much do you think I should write on each page? Just a moderate amount or short but sweet amount? Thief talk 23:19, July 23, 2010 (UTC)

Write it clearly, write it reasonable and write it direct. It is official wiki business, and I'll review your text while you do it. Keep in mind there is no hurry for it. -- D. Cello 23:21, July 23, 2010 (UTC)
I just finished the Revelancy and the Achievements articles, tell me what you think. :D, by the way, should the name be changed to Revelancy and Repetition? Thief talk 00:13, July 24, 2010 (UTC)
--
What do you think? Thief talk 01:10, July 24, 2010 (UTC)
Except for this bit:
  • "Venetian Guards are more better outfitted and equipped than those of the Venetian ones."

It's good. How that is relevant?? It doesn't even make sense! oO -- D. Cello 01:26, July 24, 2010 (UTC)

HAHAHA, Typical mistake. It's supposed to be;
Venetian Guards are more better outfitted and equipped than those of the Florentine ones.
Now it makes sense and is relevant. XD
Glad you think it's good. But is it good enough? :P
EDIT: Also, should the Revelancy page be renamed to Revelancy and Repitition? Since it also covers that aspect. :)
Thief talk 01:38, July 24, 2010 (UTC)
Watch the double posting, kid! XD
Yep, I think it's good. I'll wait the rest of the admin board to check it before we make it official. Do you want to join the Istruttore? -- D. Cello 01:42, July 24, 2010 (UTC)
-
Sure, I'd be honoured to join!! XD, and about the double post. I was meaning to press 'preview' but pressed 'save' by mistake, sorry. :D Thief talk 01:48, July 24, 2010 (UTC)
I've finished the tense article aswell, it's a bit hard to write about tenses so it's a bit shorter than the others. I hope it's still good, what do you think of it? Thief talk 09:56, July 24, 2010 (UTC)
Thanks for allowing me into the isturttore, and putting me on your office-door list, Cello :D Thief talk 23:50, July 24, 2010 (UTC)

Hey D. Cello, since this isn't such a big thing I figured i'd attach it here; could you please replace the staff panel picture of the soldier with this one of the barber?
The barber is my favorite multiplayer character. XD
Thanks, Thief talk 03:52, July 25, 2010 (UTC)
Done -- D. Cello 03:53, July 25, 2010 (UTC)
Thank you very much. :D Thief talk 04:22, July 25, 2010 (UTC)

Finished with AC:Bloodlines' Story[edit source]

Safety and Peace. I'm finally finished making out the storyline for AC:Bloodlines. Please tell me what you think after checking it out. Here, I'll help you pick which to look at first: Assault on Acre's harbor|Eenie, Meenie, Duel in the Templar Archive|Minie,....uh....that's it :D War Clown 10:06, June 27, 2010 (UTC)

No replies.....was it something I said? War Clown 07:24, June 28, 2010 (UTC)

No, no... I was just very, very, very busy this weekend. Parties, new girlfriend, football championship, I must have slept like, 10 hours in two days. x.x
I must say, War, the pages look awesome. You really got the hang of this XD The main pictures fit perfectly the concept of the article and the formatting is good. Fantasticly done ;D -- D. Cello 17:01, June 28, 2010 (UTC)
  • You're too kind :D anyway, I can't do further damage to those articles so might as well sum up more of the story lines. If there's some stuff missing on the articles, just let me know :D War Clown 11:07, June 29, 2010 (UTC)
War, the article Duel in Rome can give us problem. First, it doesn't seem to be a duel, but more of a minor engagement. Ezio fight with Rodrigo could be classified as a duel and it also happened in Rome. Plus, Brotherhood will be in Rome and there will probably be more duels in that too. We need to do something about that title. -- D. Cello 16:43, June 29, 2010 (UTC)
  • Yeah, I got the same impression after I summarized it, but that can be arranged. I'll just turn it into an event, change its name, and adjust a few things that need tweaking. I'll let you know once the adjustments are finished War Clown 03:31, June 30, 2010 (UTC)
  • And Giovanni in Rome|done. All fixed, tell me what you think War Clown 04:02, June 30, 2010 (UTC)

The Hidden Blade[edit source]

'The Hidden Blade' is actually a website, non-official. Someone made an article of it. It's to help people with the gameplay. Problem is if someone searches for the hidden blade, as in the weapon itstself , they'll come across this site and not the weapon. So you can see where the problem lies. Someone proposed to make a new category around these wbesites , but I wonder... Is that necessary? Do we really need articles around these fansites? -- Altaïr 21:14, ?June 27, 2010 (UTC)

When I search hidden blade, it goes to the weapon's article not the site. But indeed, we should change it. Maybe just create a page with fanlinks only. -- D. Cello 02:31, June 28, 2010 (UTC)

I think it depends on what you type. Cause if I type 'Hidden Blade' I get to the weapon too. However if I type 'The Hidden Blade' I get to the site. That's the difference and visitor of this site will probably use both if they want to find the weapon. So should I alter it to 'fansite: 'The hidden blade'? Or do you have better suggestions. -- Altaïr 21:14, ?June 27, 2010 (UTC)

Maybe we already have it (if not we can create it), but my idea would be like making an article about Links and sites, and inside the article we would make divisions about official links, fansites and any other external thing that appears. What you think? -- D. Cello 17:04, June 28, 2010 (UTC)

sup man! thx for giving me a warm welcome, im a big fan of assassin creed series and would love to help out, before i became a user i always came here to help me understand the storyline better, im new here (u already knew that) and would appreacatie it if u show me the ropes.DanMan7308 13:28, June 28, 2010 (UTC)DanMan7308

Well, actually, that box full of links in your talk page was exactly for that: give you a guideline to base your edits if your new here XD
Read the sections, give it a try, and bring any questions to me, okay? ;D -- D. Cello 17:04, June 28, 2010 (UTC)

Pictures![edit source]

I have quite alot of pictures for the gondola and i just created an Article on them it needs alot of work though i also uploaded a Minstrel image to the Civilians page

Auditor(e) 05:06, July 4, 2010 (UTC)

that's good, Lucan. =]
Just remember to always provide a license (indicating that you took the image from a game) and categorizing it correctly. ;D -- D. Cello 05:27, July 4, 2010 (UTC)

Um wait so dont put the license that says: I took this picture? and how do i categorize pics again? Auditor(e)

RE:Userboxes[edit source]

You want them official? Alright, Cool! But we should remove the "PS3" part, because some people play on different consoles :D War Clown 06:10, July 4, 2010 (UTC)

I was actually gonna say you to make 3 different boxes for each game XD But that's an option too. -- D. Cello 14:43, July 4, 2010 (UTC)
  • 3 versions? What, for all the consoles? I think it would be better if the box just said "This user has cleared Assassin's Creed. Now shut up and get back to work" XD. But really, 3 versions? Which would you prefer between the two? War Clown 12:09, July 5, 2010 (UTC)
Your first Idea was easier than I thought, It's finish. While I'm at it, I also made some for the DS ACs. Here it is. Please tell me what you think :D War Clown 13:22, July 6, 2010 (UTC)

Um, I had to remove it, because it was messing up your talk page. How will I present it to you without making a mess? War Clown 13:31, July 6, 2010 (UTC)

User:D. Cello/sandbox/guest~
Yeah, that was the easy part (looks good). Now we need to create the templates XD -- D. Cello 18:39, July 6, 2010 (UTC)
By the way, nice set of guidelines on your page ;D We may think about making them official too. This wiki has a shortage of policies, it runs pretty much on my command. Okay, okay, "but you're awesome", you will say, and I'll have to agree with that. But even then, it would be good if we have a place where users can check the guidelines when they're in doubt. -- D. Cello 18:42, July 6, 2010 (UTC)
Ah, War. If you haven't yet, read the "Projects! Bring me projects!" section in my page. There's a job for you there ;D -- D. Cello 05:46, July 7, 2010 (UTC)
  • You want me to make some cheesecakes? XD I can barely make eggs! Wait...I have an idea....I'll be right back! War Clown 09:37, July 7, 2010 (UTC)

And there! Go check out the sandbox, there's a new userbox I put in there. Happy eating XD War Clown 10:23, July 7, 2010 (UTC)

Hahaha... awesome XD -- D. Cello 16:46, July 7, 2010 (UTC)

Um I made a userbox about Courtesans, but I didn't ask for you permission if I can add it as a template so you may need to remove it in the meantime. --a Lunatic 06:34, July 8, 2010 (UTC)

Nah, it's ok. But you're not a staff member anymore, you have to ask permission for this kind of thing.
You can create how many userboxes you like, but Template ones are official and must be approved by one of the admins/Istruttori. -- D. Cello 12:18, July 8, 2010 (UTC)

Yeah I wasn't aware of this until shortly after I made it, is it okay if I tweak my template it a bit? a Lunatic 18:33, July 8, 2010 (UTC)

Sure, since it's already created, you can do anything with it. ;D -- D. Cello 18:34, July 8, 2010 (UTC)

How do I[edit source]

Create like a tab thing so my Userboxes dont show unless i press the button or is that not possible?

Auditor(e) 00:39, July 5, 2010 (UTC)

Aaaall the doubts you may have can be answered here. If I must say, your personal pages are a complete format mess, and it would take far too long to try to explain everything to you. Read the help wikia, and if even that way you still have answers, come to me. Or Sima or Altaïr or other staff member that is online. -- D. Cello 00:58, July 5, 2010 (UTC)

Ok thanks I will check it out now

Auditor(e) 00:59, July 5, 2010 (UTC)

Okay I cant be bothered my Userpage looks like someone eating all colors of sweets threw up on it im gonna delete all my custom userboxes apart from 1 or 2 ill copy paste them so i can put them back if i need to

Auditor(e)

Yeah, that would be better. It would be way easier for you to just remake your entire page rather than trying to fix it. You do know how the userboxes work, right? -- D. Cello 20:08, July 5, 2010 (UTC)

Yeah mostly im not the best but im pretty good at them...i think anyway most of the userboxes are gone and its looking much better i just have a few more to delete

why am i blocked?[edit source]

why did you block me? im not sure what i did and i would really like to know

my user name is verr0chi0 and i couldnt contact you on my account because, ya know im blocked and all

when i try to do stuff i get this:

The block was made by D. Cello.

  • Reason given: Vandalism
  • Start of block: 04:14, July 1, 2010
  • Expiry of block: 04:14, July 1, 2011
  • Intended blockee: Verr0cchi0
  • Block ID: #270
  • Current IP address: 74.173.103.130
I checked the datablock, and three of your edits were continuous messing of Ezio's page, and two of your comments in blogs were somewhat mistaken by vandalism. The day in question saw the wiki suffer several attempts at vandalism, all blocked, revert and prevented, but your name and ip went down the toilet with the other vandals. I lifted the block and you're back on full access. Sorry for that, but I'm sure you understand. ;D
Contact me if you need anything. Happy editing, and welcome back. -- D. Cello 04:31, July 6, 2010 (UTC)

oh ok thanks a lot and just for the record: aside from adding one picture to ezios page

i only tried to erase on of the things vandalizing the page

i actually made a new profile anyways

Giovanni Auditore da Firenze (multiplayer character)[edit source]

I hope It's okay to post this... Well, we don't even know if there is Giovanni Auditore in ACBH, there is no proof of it anywhere. Someone just edited ACBH page and wrote his name as a multiplayer character/singleplayer skin. Then talks about Giovanni in ACBH started and it is completely possible that he is in ACBH but not as a multiplayer character (which makes no sense) but as a singleplayer skin (which is completely logical). And then I saw that someone created a Giovanni Auditore da Firenze (multiplayer character)|page about Giovanni as a multiplayer character. As far as I know, you can't create a page about something without proof. I think the page should be deleted and if we get some evidence about Giovanni really being in ACBH re-create the page. Andro69 12:54, July 9, 2010 (UTC)

Thanks, mate. I deleted the page. Feel free to revert any other edit of the kind until we got confirmation that Giovanni will appear *at all*. -- D. Cello 17:34, July 9, 2010 (UTC)

contest[edit source]

hey man, i never been a member in any type of wiki so im not sure if we can do this but do u want to create a contest? each user (if they want) has to create thier own assassin with thier own personailty and thier own backround, and has to say how or why they became assassins, then the high ranking staff (like u) become's the judges and decide who wins, but u cant vote for your own assassin, if this idea seems stupid to u we dont have to do it, i just thought it would be cool to share our own views of assassins and maybe get to know eachother more, agian im not sure if we can do this thing at a wiki but i think it would be funDanMan7308 21:38, July 9, 2010 (UTC)DanMan7308

Thing is: this is a encyclopedia about the game. Means that everything here is canon and official i nthe game series. We are in the process of implementing a fan area in the site, and when that's done, we can have anything from fanfics to contests like you suggested. But right now, we don't actually have a place for it =/ -- D. Cello 01:28, July 10, 2010 (UTC)

You mean like a beauty contest but with badass psychopathic mass murdering Assassins? Cool! Auditor(e) 05:34, July 10, 2010 (UTC)

P.S. how do i change my avatar picture? Template:Facepalm

@TheBag84: Go to My home at the top of the and slide your mouse to your current avatar. A text (change) will appear. Click it, then slide down the page until you find Avatar written. Then just upload the picture you want to have as your avatar. After that slide down the page again and click save changes. Hope it helps.

P.S.: Sorry, D. Cello, for writing this here. I know I should write in the user's talk page, but I've forgotten. Sorry, I'll be more careful next time. Andro69 16:46, July 12, 2010 (UTC)

No problem, mate. I don't mind. -- D. Cello 17:57, July 12, 2010 (UTC)

An Idea[edit source]

While me and Altair were discussing about the vandalism on the Templars page, Altair hatched an idea about preventing the need for a serious repair on a page that is vandalized repeatedly. He said that we should keep the source code for the wiki's longer articles (AC1, AC2, Brotherhood, Templars, Assassins, those articles) so that if another rain of vandalism were to happen again, we'd save a lot of time by just doing a copy/paste of the code we saved.

For a better explanation, check Altair's Talkpage (The Knights Templar Section) War Clown 15:09, July 15, 2010 (UTC)

Question[edit source]

Well, it's also about that vandalism. The thing is that anyone can edit this wiki, which is not good (at least not if you ask me). On Wikipedia you must create an account to edit, and I think it would be good to do the same here. If unregistered users wouldn't be able to edit then no vandalism would occur (except vandalism made by registered users, but this way the now large number of vandalism edits would greatly decrease).

So my question: Is it possible to make this wiki open for edit only to registered users?

P.S.: If it's not possible, then I agree with War Clown and support his suggestion.

Andro69 17:46, July 15, 2010 (UTC)

Actually, it is. We'll think about it, and I'll answer here shortly. -- D. Cello 19:46, July 15, 2010 (UTC)
  • I'd like to support this idea. I mean we have seen unregistered contributors correcting or inserting information. But if they correct things, then they care... And if they care surely it's not a problem for them to register. This will save us a lot of hasssle with vandalism. -- Altaïr 22:45, July 15,2010 (UTC)

Well, it would be good to make this as soon as possible since vandalism is getting really big on pages like Lucy Stillman, the Courtesan and the Knights Templar. Andro69 12:15, July 16, 2010 (UTC)

    • Well, I contacted wikia to discuss our options, since I don't think it was the better idea (like I denied this suggestion three times in the past already). Turns out they share my views, their answer was:
"It's much harder to build the community on a wiki that blocks anonymous users. This is because many first time visitors will try out the site before logging and creating an account. Forcing people to log in first can put people off and slow the growth of your wiki."
―Wendy

While it is possible for me to lock the wiki, they don't reccomend it. Wendy pointed out that instead of locking the wiki, we tried the Vandalism Task Force first, so instead of locking everything, we report vandals to them and they block their whole IP range. And honestly, guys, we're not wikipedia or wookiepedia, who have thousands of users and can lock for anons for a time without experiencing a significant bump. The job of the staff IS to mantain the wiki. Our sole purpose is to keep users interactions good and the wiki on tracks, and reverting vandals is part of the maintenace part. There are some users who help us in that, and their actions don't go unnoticed either. This wiki was always open for any and all who wanted to help, and I'm keeping it this way. So no anon block for now. -- D. Cello 17:05, July 16, 2010 (UTC)

I agree that it might discourage people to become members of this wiki of they are blocked, so yeah let's just try to maintain the wiki the old-fashion way. Just try to beat the vandalist as fast as possible before they can do more damage. I still think it wouldn't be a bad idea to make back-ups of some articles. I'll see to it myself to make it easier for myself when I'm back in Belgium --Altaïr 18:19, July 16,2010 (UTC)
It's completely cool with anyone who wants to make backups to do so. It just isn't necessary.
Remember to block the vandals always, preferably for a year. -- D. Cello 17:21, July 16, 2010 (UTC)

Hi D. Cello[edit source]

well btw..im on the ALWAYS ALLOWED...on your page was this "p.s. something" about SINGLE GIRLS ARE ALWAYS ALLOW, so....you got the picture! hahahahaha =)

The thing is, I know a few people anxious to know everything about AC but in SPANISH. so I was thinking , just translate a couple of basic pages like The story, the characters, things like that...I speak spanish if you need ANY ( ***and I mean Any***) help...

So...see ya!!!

Allyauditore 22:43, July 15, 2010 (UTC)AllyAuditore

I'm afraid that's not possible, sweetheart. =/ As the main AC Wiki on net, we are the main source for all, and the universal language is english, after all. Adding a translation to the articles would be duplicate information and mess the formatting, something that wouldn't be good neither for our spanish readers as well for our english readers.
Some time ago, the admin of the spanish Assassin's Creed wiki came to me and asked permission to translate our texts and use our pictures, which of course I granted =] (we must help our spanish hermanos). Since their source material is from us, you can be sure it's good quality. =] So direct your spanish-reading friends to there and your english-able friends here. ;D You seem to have a good english hold to, so you can stay around. -- D. Cello 17:14, July 16, 2010 (UTC)

Image Editing Apply[edit source]

Hey Cello, I saw your comment, what do you want me to do? I'm pretty good with Image Editing programs :D. Thief talk 06:33, July 21, 2010 (UTC)

Hey Thief. Thanks for your prompt answer. If you look at then badges names, you'll see I already changed a few. We would nedd new medals. We could either use the star thing that the default has and change the middle, or do other thing (like maybe make ones similar to how medals are stylized, with the Mark of Cain and the Assassin's symbols on it). Do you have any ideas on that matter, mate? -- D. Cello 06:54, July 21, 2010 (UTC)
--
Alright, how about i'll give you a few icons that are of the same size as the normal medals and you can pick and choose which ones you want to use in replacement, if you have any pictures you want made into certain medals just send me them. :D Thief talk 07:26, July 21, 2010 (UTC)
Sure, that works too. -- D. Cello 07:27, July 21, 2010 (UTC)
---
Ive made about 50 or so icons, all classified as a 'Silver' ranked medal. If I had of done gold and bronze versions of all these and you didn't like some, it would be a waste. Here's what I need you to do; I want you to, if you can, list down the filename of the pictures and the rank (ie; icon6 - bronze rank, icon5 - gold, etc..) you want me to convert to and i'll do it.
Here's the download link; http://rapidshare.com/files/408152771/Icons_and_Medals.zip
Click on 'Free user', then just wait 30 seconds and then the download button should appear.
Cheers, Thief talk 09:24, July 21, 2010 (UTC)
Edit: I'll probably add a Maysaf guard, an Informant medal and perhaps a Herald picture medal too soon.
Hey those medals look pretty good ^^ Yeah, add those in the lot too. Btw, you saw that medals have rank too? Some are bronze (worth 10), others silver (word 50) and others gold (worth 100), and some special ones platinum (worth I don't know how many)? Do you think you can change the outer ring to feature that? (bronze medals with bronze rings, silver medals with silver rings, etc?)
And you already did them square, but to let you know: THe picutre has to be squared and center to not get chopped off in the system ;D Nice job, Thief. Keep at it! -- D. Cello 13:26, July 21, 2010 (UTC)
--
Yeah, like I said before I done them all Silver (50) so I wouldn't waste my time with other versions if you didn't like them. Now you tell me which pictures you want made into other rings so type the file name and then next to it the rank you want and I will change the outer layer. :D
Here's an example;
Icon7 - Bronze
Thanks,
EDIT: Ive got some time on my hands for the next handful of hours if you want to tell me which icons to convert. :)
Thief talk 22:38, July 21, 2010 (UTC)

Hey, Just noticed you already converted most of them. They're looking good.
Well, hope my medals came in handy to you. They look pretty awesome. :D
Thief talk 05:50, July 22, 2010 (UTC)

They did. =] Thanks very much, thief. There is a few left, I'll let you know if anything arises =] -- D. Cello 05:52, July 22, 2010 (UTC)

RE: Achievements[edit source]

Wiki admins cannot manually give achievements, but what you can do that's kind of similar (as seen in the "Create a new Edit track" section of Special:AchievementsCustomize) is to create a set of achievements for any category the wiki uses. So for example if you wanted to give extra rewards for people editing articles about Brotherhood, you could create a new edit track for the Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood category. I know that's not exactly you want, but hopefully it's better than nothing. I will mention that you are not the only admin who has asked for letting admins manually give out special achievements to worthy editors, so if enough people ask for it, maybe that feature will appear in a future iteration of the achievements system. Move over redirects[edit source]

D. Cello, I've noticed that you reverted my page move for the article [Hunt on Venice], however you failed to give any reason whatsoever for your doing so. I would like to point out that this is the second such time you have done so, without enquiring of me as to why I moved the pages in the first place. I feel I have to remind you that, although you may be the founder of this wiki, it isn't your private property, and as such simply reverting such a major addition as a page move, without a reason, bye or leave, is considered extremly rude. That all said, I would like to remind you as to my reasons for moving not only this article, but the previous article as well – Retaking of Masyaf.

In both cases, the original names are POV, and biased towards to playable character, which for a encyclopedic entry is not proper. In the case of the article, "Retaking of Masyaf", you are assuming that not only has Al Mualim actually 'taken' Masyaf from it's previous inhabitant (which is impossible considering he is the previous inhabitant), but also that Altaïr acted to 'retake' the city, instead of simply entering the city and dueling Al Mualim. With regards to the second such page move, in this case the "Hunt on Venice", I feel the first reason I should point out is that it is a grammatically incorrect title, which I clearly indicated as such in my reasoning for moving the page. My second reason remains the same as my original page move, bias; the term "hunt on" is unnecessarily POV, the title "Ezio's journey to Venice" is not only more descriptive, but also neutral in terms.

Now, as you have moved both pages over a redirect, and I am not an admin on this wiki, I am unable to simply revert your reverts, which I admit I had considered doing, without manually moving the pages over. So I am asking you to either return these articles to the neutral titles, or provide an arguement for your keeping them at this biased titles. Thank you. --Jasca Ducato Council Chamber Assassination record 19:31, July 21, 2010 (UTC)

Glad to see you still live, Jasca =]
Relating to the page moves: Lots of users edited those pages, and no one ever felt the need to change the article's name. You, on the other way, just came by and without even a message on the talpages, moved it to something you tought was neutral. So, for each respective article:
  • Masyaf is a city, not a private property. The castle is private, the city is a village. Al Mualim took control of it's inhabitants' minds and controled the city. Altaïr went in to confront his master, but did not expect to find the town in that state. He fought the guards, and the other fre assassins arived. While Altair ALONE fought Al Mualim, the other assassins stormed the fortress and recaptured it from the controled guards. If that is not a conquest (or a reconquest), or as put in the article, a retaking of what as already theirs, then I don't know what it was. Masyaf belonged to the Order, not to Al Mualim. He only ruled it. The assassins loyal to the creed recaptured it for the order. So it was a retaking. A duel is a POV statement in a very small scale compared to what happened.
  • Hunt on Venice is a nice name. "Ezio's journey to Venice" sounds lame. That's my only point. What to change the name? Cool, just ask on the talkpage first. Except for typos, even *we* admins leave messages in the talkpages before moving an article. Why can't you? and btw, a journey isn't exactly a major event (is more of a quest), while a Hunt is. Anyway, that is with the Timeline project department, so for deeper discussions, refer to WarClown. He's the chief editor there and responsible for 70% of our growth in that category, he's the guy in charge for events.
And about reverting edits, I gave you rollback rights, didn't I? -- D. Cello 19:51, July 21, 2010 (UTC)
Yes, I'm still alive. But to counter your two points, nowhere on the article "Retaking of Masyaf" is there any mention about the Assassins retaking the city. The text stops at the end of the section entitled "The Duel"; and calling something a duel is not POV, and I fail to see how it is. As for the Hunt on Venice, I didn't leave a message in the talk page because I didn't feel it was necessary. The article had only been created fourty-seven minutes beforehand, I was the second editor and I was not only correcting a grammatical error, but providing a more descriptive name. "Ezio's journey to Venice" may sound "lame", but it's better then what it's at now. That all said, I see your point with talking to WarClown, and will do so shortly. --Jasca Ducato Council Chamber Assassination record 20:13, July 21, 2010 (UTC)
The article is in development, so it's reasonanle to expect info to be missing. And yes, a duel is a POV. If you focus in two combatatents fighting in troy, you will see a duel. If you pan back 50 yards, you will see a battle. If you pan back 40km, you will see a fullscale blow-out war. And again, about the Venice event: "I didn't leave a message in the talk page because I didn't feel it was necessary." Your oppinion, mate. If you feel the hunt doesn't represent the true event meaning, suggest other. We need a lot of help on the projects, feel free to do it ;D -- D. Cello 20:20, July 21, 2010 (UTC)

She stil supports her accusations toward you. I don't know if they are true, nor do I care, but if they are, think over your life, kid. This one guy[edit source]

This guy won't stop editing the Timeline. He is abusing these badges! Editing and saving, editing and saving, its all he is doing! Me and Thief tried beating some sense into him, but he won't have it. I request his points to be removed, so it would remind him not to ignore the words of others. Either that, or you yourself try to talk to him. WarClownWanna Talk? 04:34, July 25, 2010 (UTC)

I had just wrote the message when he answered. If it happens again, let me know. And tell him his being watched, War. -- D. Cello 04:39, July 25, 2010 (UTC)
You should really remove his points, though. It's so unfair, he edited the timeline 83 times, and gained over 9 medals from the edits he done, all from adding overused links to the timeline and not editing as a group, useless! Thief talk 04:43, July 25, 2010 (UTC)
He seems to be a real newbie. If he puts one toe out of line again I'll just block him for a week and be done with it. Points aren't such a big deal for me going out removing them cause one tresspassing.
btw, you guys are Istruttori. Give him help links (like help wikia or help section on this wiki) and offer him assistance ;D -- D. Cello 04:47, July 25, 2010 (UTC)
I sent him the warning. He says he didn't know he even had a "message thing" here. If he gets out of line again, I'll let you know. And about the help thing. I think the welcome box can do that for us :D

Groups[edit source]

  • Hi there. I had a quick look over your group section in your blog, it's an interesting idea. My problem is, I don't wanna feel tied down to any one section, although if I'm honest I do lean more towards your "designer" category myself, as I prefer rearranging and making articles more presentable; that, and I also have a fair amount of experience with templates. That said, I won't be putting myself forward for any nominations, just not my style. --Jasca Ducato Council Chamber Assassination record 01:47, July 26, 2010 (UTC)

Change name for Spanish Inquisition[edit source]

Hey Cello,

Is it alright with you if I change the name of the event article 'Spanish Inquisition' to something more suitable? Like; 'Swordfighting in Spain' , 'Sailing to Spain' , 'Assassins In Danger' or some other suitable title (i'll probably ask War if we can't decide, he's good with names.). I ask this because some people don't understand that it is a game event article and not an article based on the actual historic period.

So is this alright with you? Then maybe after I change the name, the people that quarreled over the article will create their own historic article on the actual time-period.

I only ask this because I did not name the article and feel I should ask permission before renaming it. ;)

Thanks,

Thief talk Wiki Policy! 05:53, July 26, 2010 (UTC)

First of all: your conduct is absolutely examplar XD You did the right thing by asking it. And about it, I don't think we need to change it. I mean, Ezio did played a role in the Spanish Inquisition, right? Then leave that article for the hystorical event (like we did with the battle at Arsuf) and just create another(s) (like the sailing to spain suggestion) for Ezio's actions =]
But keep in mind that all events must be major (they must have palpapble consequences that wouldn't happen if they didn't existed) or battles/wars, and about the names, War's the Chief Editor, so he can help you more on that area. ;D -- D. Cello 06:31, July 26, 2010 (UTC)
-
So, i'll change my timeline article to 'Sailing to Spain' (until we think of another name), and then i'll create another article about the historical, and true Spanish Inquisition. Is that what you mean? :D Thief talk Wiki Policy! 06:58, July 26, 2010 (UTC)
No, I mean leave the Spanish Inquisition article as it is, and just create another for Ezio's actions. -- D. Cello 15:58, July 26, 2010 (UTC)
I don't understand? The Spanish Inquisition article IS the one with Ezio's actions. :S Thief talk Wiki Policy! 22:19, July 26, 2010 (UTC)

new WikiProject[edit source]

Because of my own obsessiveness about this sort of thing, I've taken the liberty of creating Project Database to keep track of statistics and mathematical figures that are used in the games, basically the gears that run the AC series. However, I'm rather new to Projects, and was wondering if you had any tips? -Ulyenov Project Database 19:19, July 27, 2010 (UTC)

As of now, promote it. Add a link about it in your userbox, create a forum page advertising and invite users you think that could help you via their talk pages. =]
And, if you wouldn't mind, can you change the project's nickname for something else? Database is the name of the next project who is focusing on improving locations info articles (based on AC2 database sytem of historical catalogues)
One more thing: remove the "don't edit any part of this article" bit of the "not do" things. It's an open project, you're only a guide, not a ruler. And if people can't edit, how will they add their names to the members list? -- D. Cello 19:22, July 27, 2010 (UTC)
I haven't really established the name yet, though I thought Project Database would be a close fit since that's basically what the project members would be compiling, you think Project Rafiq would be a good name? Also, the "do not edit" thing was something I put in before I added the member box. I meant for that to apply only to the 'project scope' and 'do/don't do' sections, I'll edit it to clarify. -Ulyenov Project Database 19:30, July 27, 2010 (UTC)
But that's the point. You can't "forbid" people from editing it. And about the project... since it's got nothing to do with in-game info, name it project Benchmark or something. -- D. Cello 19:42, July 27, 2010 (UTC)
Hm... point taken, though the whole project is almost entirely about in-game information, just not about the stuff that you commonly see on display. I'll remove the 'do not edit' clause and change the name again. -Ulyenov Project Rafiq 19:49, July 27, 2010 (UTC)
I've edited the 'do not edit' line so that it's a 'do not remove information' line and changed the name to Project Determination. is that okay? -Ulyenov Project Determination 19:55, July 27, 2010 (UTC)
It is in-gmae related, it isn't in game info realted. Your focusing on Gameplay aspects not at in-universe story telling perspective ;D -- D. Cello 19:58, July 27, 2010 (UTC)
Your point is accepted and I've changed it to Project Determination because that word has no direct relation to in-game data that I can think of. Also, would you like to be the first member? I've no idea who to invite. -Ulyenov Project Determination 20:00, July 27, 2010 (UTC)
Sure, I can join it later. Create a topic Forum:Watercooler|on the foruns about your project, go here and inform the users who seem to be active if they want to join. Keep im mind that many people don't like commitments and won't accept it, so don't push it or be invasive. =] -- D. Cello 21:00, July 27, 2010 (UTC)
Thanks. ^^ I've got the watercooler article up, and I'll be sending out messages to the users on that list.

Timeline[edit source]

(Don't know if I can continue this on the project page, so I'm continuing it here) I know that Altair is an admin, and I know what he was doing, but the way he was doing it (going through each seperate section and deleteing the mess) was exactly the way you didn't want it - a whole bunch of contributions to an article by editing each section seperately. I don't want to sound rude, and I don't mean any disrepect to you or Altair, but if that's the way it came ot, then Sorry. A.J. two 01:18, July 28, 2010 (UTC)

I'm sorry you don't like how I work as an admin, but I just thought that whatever is relevant to the Assassin's Creed franchise should be on that board. So I deleted everything that was in my opinion not relevant. The assassins we saw in the villa are of importance and who they killed. But we don't need every detail of who they killed. I mean would you also put in when Alexander the great became Emperor and other details, when he conquered Persia and such. Those were important points in his life, but if we are going to put this all in, then we have such a large timeline that might be rich of history, but not all related to Assassin's Creed. Altaïr 3:22, 28 July, 2010 (UTC)
I never said that I didn't like how you worked. And I don't actually care for the timeline, as it is not why I came to the wiki. But you kept leaping from section to section, and I wondered how pissed off it was making Cello (if at all, which it probably wasn't). I shouldn't have said anything in the first place, seeing as you are an admin. But I was stupid and did it anyways. A.J. two 01:31, July 28, 2010 (UTC)
Well it was quite a heavy editing job, since some events had to be deleted, but the important thing was to change the structure which was confusing for me because of the coding. All of it had to be changed which took quite some time, so it went a little clumsy. I just hope I didn't demotivate you. Altaïr 3:33, 28 July, 2010 (UTC)
Nah, it's cool. You may notice my absence n a couple of days, though, as I have to give of my computer - and my access to Wikia. I may be on here and there, but I won't be as regular as I am now. I will be checking in, but everything I do will probably be under an anonymous user. A.J. two 01:51, July 28, 2010 (UTC)

This just happened in the Recent Changes: I think it is time for a hasty block (as it is clearly an insult towards you. A.J. two 01:33, July 28, 2010 (UTC)

Blocked already. Ordinary people feels threatned by my awesomeness ;D
btw, AJ. It isn't wrong for you to keep an eye on admins. But admins don't do small edits section by section cause we're interested in badges. If I suspected one of the staff members to be doing it, I would personally kick his/her ass ;D -- D. Cello 01:37, July 28, 2010 (UTC)

A hound trying to bury evidence[edit source]

Safety and peace. Listen, there's this particular user who has been, according to some user's messages to him, quite the badge hound, more than quite actually, it seems that he really is just a badge hound. He has been reported to be removing and adding categories, just for the sake of these badges. I myself, saw the edits he made on some articles, and learning from the history, the only edits he made was adding spaces bellow each paragraph. He has done this multiple times, both the categories and the spacing.

At first I just ignored him. But, the other users didn't. These users left warnings on his talk page that he is bound to tick someone off (particularly, you and the admins.) As I was editing, I returned to the activity feed and saw him save an edit on his talk page, I thought he got the message, but instead he removed every warning he received so far. Refusing to heed the warnings of others, hoarding these badges, deleting evidence of any warnings he received....Outright ridiculous. Not even a laughable matter IMO

Here, visit the guy's talk page and check the history of it. Learn what has been said from the old edits. You'll soon learn what I mean. His final fate is up to you, I have no opinion on the subject. WarClownWanna Talk? 14:53, July 28, 2010 (UTC)

I saw where he did this to a friendly warning I put up on his page, I briefly considered reposting it but frankly it's just not worth the effort. I give support to whatever happens to him. As Joker says in Batman: Arkham Asylum, "Oh, what do I care? Do your worst!" -Ulyenov Project Determination 14:57, July 28, 2010 (UTC)
Oh my golly, someone else here has played Arkham Asylum besides me! Oh I'd like to thank my fans for their undying support! And to the people of Gotham, who I'll be seeing very very soon! Awesome! XD But yeah, do what you have to do to this guy.....WarClownWanna Talk? 15:05, July 28, 2010 (UTC)
Man, I love Arkham Asylum *-*
The hound is blocked.
On a separate note: War, I've been meaning to talk to you. I was thinking in making the Apple's Journey article about the whole journey, beggining with it's resting place at Solomon's temple, passing by Al Mualim hands, Altaïr's fights, codex and etc, aaaaal the way to what we know at ACII. Can it be done? ;D -- D. Cello 16:28, July 28, 2010 (UTC)
When I first saw the title of the article (when it was still a dead link), I originally thought it was going to detail what happened to the apple after the Templars brought it from Cyprus, seeing that it fell to the AC2 list on the projects page. But, I think it should detail every single crumb of info we know on it, specifically, where it came from, how it ended up there, and not its origins. Yes I think we should do this, but where should the article be listed on the projects page? WarClownWanna Talk? 14:41, July 29, 2010 (UTC)
In the others section along with the Tunguska event and similars. -- D. Cello 15:09, July 29, 2010 (UTC)
