In the AC universe Arthur was one of the people who held the Sword of Eden. Stripping out the Magical aspects of everything, you could say that Merlin had within his possession an Apple of Eden or more likely a staff of Eden. The trouble with using an arthurian setting however is where is "Camelot". Caerleon or Carlisle or Camlann or Camulodunum or Celliwig or Cadbury. All of these have been considered likely places as to the location. Also Excalibur is of no importance, the important sword would be the one he pulled from the stone, as that one's the piece of eden. Excalibur was given to him by the lady of the lake.
