The Templars want desmond so they can put him in a coma and extract the information with no cost to them (Vidic's threat in AC1), before leaving him to die. Therefore Desmond must take Vidic out and kill the other templars at Abstergo. He will also need to find the last pieces of eden , which will be where the animus comes in. As for where the fighting is concerned I think it will be more stealth based, more sneaking than before, with Desmond taking people out from the shadows, hacking into Abstergo (like subject 16), so don't expect to see Desmond fight that much, remember the conversation he has with Rebecca and Shaun that he might not kill much, (except Vidic, which is where it is needed).
