and what's stopping the franchise from becoming another PoP clone without the scifi elements. the historicity of events and the ideals clash as opposed to out-and-out fantasy elements and self-determinating protagonists? hardly. at their very core they're both stories from mythical distant pasts that lack any connection with the present if AC's scifi elements were dropped. and there's plenty more on the gamer market for such things.
outsearching a rival organization for macguffins to decide the fate of the world is done to death. ideological clashes while doing so inevitable and also done to death. searching the genetic past for macguffins while fighting said rival organizations from a bed/chair thingy (and occasionally on foot) wasn't done yet AFAIK.
and box arts? srsly? the first civ on box art? the fuck would you put a wtf-spoiler on it (and no, saren's mug in ME1 doesn't count since he's pretty much introduced early on). on all five main games you have mugs of three assassins. preferably shots of them doing something awesome. obviously desmond or the first civ guys or anyone else are going to look OOP in the artwork for the sequels. it's just a matter of consistency ubi's art dept stuck with.
get back to me with your opinions when you finally have your name credited along with the franchise's writing team. or some other IP i'll immensely enjoy. the latter one's pretty easy by the way. enjoyment's always to be had as long as i know how such franchises falter and/or rise above the rest. and you don't even need to have your ideas reflected in the games for that matter, your credited name would suffice. otherwise, please ignore my tl;dr and refer to the last paragraph in my prior comment. thanks.
