You're not looking at the big picture here. If they had originally just gone with the storyline, it would have been much more enjoyable. One should never forgo the entertainment value and enjoyment of a story just for the sake of being "different".

As to my other statement, I was merely pointing out the Ubisoft doesn't focus on the present-day aspect of Assassin's Creed, because that isn't the focus or the draw. People play assassin's creed to be a badass assassin. People didn't really care about Desmond's story so much as they did Ezio, and after all the convoluted nonsense, we would have been better off if the developers stuck with their original plan.
