Well I do agree the setting would be interesting, but we should stop putting the Catholic Spanish as the end all evil of the age (this is coming from a descendent of Spanish Jews who were knocked out to Turkey).
The setting would be wonderfully different and it would be cool not to just go up against Spanish troops but Also German (Holy Roman Empire) troops as well. You would have other powerful allies available as well I assume. Going on a few foreign missions with the Dutch East India Company would be great as well (Africa, India, Indonesia). So I could see it, if it's spun the right way.
