The whole point of the first game and revelations is that there is no good or bad in the war merely different idiologys. The assassin's generally fight for the free will of the people by killing greedy/ tyranical people(note this isn't letting the target get free will). The death of one to benefit many. There are exceptions however when assassin's are corrupted by greed, ambition or hatred where the creed is breached however. The templars are less complex and are basically doing bad things to achieve peace
