I do not want too start a argument over how he died, so I will leave that.

And if the Creed was not important anymore, then explain how everytime a recruit hits Master Rank, the ceremony? or Ezio being inducted into Assassin's? it is mentioned through out the series.

He basically killed a entire town of innocent people to get his own goals.
