That was said once, I think by Patrice. I don't think it holds that much relevance.
You could interpret it as something literal, however. If you count Altaïr as the middle, and Ezio as the latest, then... 1500 - 1200 = 300, 1200 - 300 = 900... then the 'new' ancestor would be from about the 900s. If you count Altaïr as the middle, Desmond as the latest and Aquilus as the earliest, then... 1200 - 300 = 900, 900 / 2 = 450, 300 + 450 = 750... then he would be from the 700s. Which I doubt...
