You've just made a believer out of me. And to support your theory we know that the Templars were using mechanisms based on the hidden blade, no reason they couldn't have had the poison blade. I don't recall ever seeing blood on somebody I poisoned in game so if they are using the same design then it's a very good one. And we know for a fact that Assassin's Creed poison works obscenely fast.
