He seemed very friendly with George Washington in that one pic, and the Brits' red uniform falls in really well with the red uniforms the Templars always where. Plus, in the case of the American Revolution, I doubt the Assassins would not pick one specific side. I expect them to be heavily involved in it, not to watch it unfold from a distance and take out the occasional Templar.
