The POE that you're referring to is not only in possession of the Templars, but also locked away at a safe storage facility, out of fears of causing a paradox. It hasn't actually even being confirmend as a POE, just an artifact. Also, so far, nobody can control it. Although, I'm keen for a one man army (Desmond) to storm Abstergo, looking for information on it's location, and then to go steal it from them.
