I think each of the characters are going to explore a different area of gameplay- Since Ezio is old and relatively frail, he's probably going to rely more on stealth to accomplish his goals, while Altair (or, possibly, his son or daughter) will have more well-rounded attributes. Desmond will likely stay the platformer, but I imagine that we're going to get more interesting set pieces for him- going through favelas in Sao Paolo trying to reach the assassins there, going along the rooftops (preferably at night in the rain) in Osaka, and the like. Desmond will also probably have some amount of combat now.
