If that was the case, I doubt any modern day Templars would use swords as well, seeing as they all used guns to stop the team of Assassinsins in the first AC from rescuing Desmond. Maybe the Sword Of Eden could be capable of blocking bullets or something. In any case, how would Desmond conceal a sword in the modern times? And a side note, I very much hope Desmond eventually gets a second Hidden Blade, having only one is painfully annoying.
