they did not decide to kill Lucy in just one day. They have been building that up for years now and there's proof as well. Didn't you wonder in ACII how they managed to find them, and then crashed the party just a second after Desmond saw Minerva? Didn't you wonder why she disappeared for 3 sequences in ACB. How is it that she even had access to Abstergo Databases? She said "some old passwords work", but which idiot won't change his password when an employee runs away.
Why was she seeing Project Legacy in the Sanctuary? Why did Vidic send guards armed with batons and not guns to capture the 4 Assassins? And most of all, in AC1 how did she send other Assassins messages through Abstergo Email Network', without getting caught, and how wasn't Abstergo able to decode that simple email which stated that they were coming to rescue her.
See? They didn't kill her for the sake of it, but to thicken the plot.
