Juno needed Lucy dead because she is not "Eve" and Desmond was starting to fall in love with her. Also, "Eve" is a woman that Desmond needs to have a child with later. And it's not a stupid question, I thought Desmond had to sacrifice her to get the Apple when I first played, the only reason I know is because I've seen this in other blogs.
