User blog comment:Serpentaxy400/Is Ubisoft Milking the Franchise?/@comment-1153722-20130301004610
First off: Let me be clear that I do not like this game being announced this soo. I also acknowledge that Ubisoft is 'milking' the franchise, but I also understand that they want to make money - they are a big company, after all.
That said, here comes my opinion: Fans have already lost the right to complain about Ubisoft milking the series when this is the fifth consecutive annual release. Just no. No complaining. No. No. No. Enough.
Don't like it now? Don't buy it, but don't comment on everything saying that they are milking the series; or that "The series is officially dead" ('officially dead', why do people say this?) because of the annual release cycle; or that you are "done" with the series because they come out with a new game each year; or any other nonsense I keep seeing on the internet. And this is not directed at Serpentaxy400, but anyone in general.
However, "much less development time and very few new ideas"? "innovations to the plot and combat"? What? The games don't have any less development time because there are numerous studios working on different installments simultaneously, and the latest installment saw plenty of new ideas being added. The combat system was completely overhauled, and the story was probably the best yet out of the entire series.
Now it just seems like people are complaining just for the sake of complaining. I have no trouble with people voicing their opinions, but it must not come to absurdity.
I play Assassin's Creed games primarily for their plot and lore, and those things only get better with each new entry into the series. Every game is unique in all possible ways, and they will not cease to be so. A lot of development time is being put into all of these games. Assassin's Creed will never 'become' Call of Duty for these very reasons. I can understand people being upset about the next game being announced so soon after the release of the last one - but that is nothing new and frankly, when they start to criticize the games only for the sake of complaining, they lost every right to complain.
All I have been seeing in 2012 are gamers complaining. It all started with Mass Effect 3. I prayed that 2013 would bring us better days, but alas, it shall not be so.
