I personally think that it should be in England,France or America considering that they have Templar organisations. Although I agree Jaraub, although would be very weird putting Desmond in modern times, I mean you can't have him running around in Assassin robes he will stick out like a sore thumb and will look awkward in modern times, he cannot wear his hoodie which is way to plain.
