This game was made by a team of mixed races and beliefs, so it can't be racist. Don't think of it as a racial discrimination. It is not anti-british. The British were oppressive rulers so that makes them the enemy in this game but that has nothing to do with Templars. Templars aren't the British. It's like in AC 1 where the Saracen and Crusaders have war but neither side is evil per se. The Templars are evil and they infiltrate both sides so the assassins must eliminate them and anyone who tries to stop them. We don't know whether Connor will kill Americans but if the Americans are under a Templar they shall receive no mercy from Connor but I seriously doubt it since the revolutionaries are under George Washington and he supports the good guys and kills anyone with evil intensions so Connor is safe from Americans, Once again, killing British oppressors isn't anti-british but anti-imperialist.
