Thee journal idea was originally in AC1, in a way. The descritpion of each memory was written from Altair's point of view, detailing what he learned during the memory. Now, if this was somehow more integrated into the game, perhaps if we had the "more info you gather, the better your sync for the sequence, rather than individual memory." Something like the Knowledge memories in AC1, where it was encouraged to complete all the side investigations to know the most before the assassination. Also, I still implore people to just go back to one synch requirement per mission.

That aside, another thing I want to state is the replay mission system should be overhauled, and actually made as it was before the switch to the new engine for AC3/AC4. In Revelations/Brotherhood, replay spawned the player in freeroam, and they had to approach the mission giver, thus starting the mission. In AC3 and AC4, the mission is started immediately after selecting it from the menu, usually causing several cutscenes to be omitted from its beginning. A perfect example is Plant the Seeds mission in Freedom Cry - the replay starts the player during the naval bit, completely omitting the entire part with Adewale planting the forged list of slaves in Saint-Domingue. That's a critical chunk of story missing right there.

Also, I hope the designers finally bring back the sword sheaths, absent ever since AC2 onward. Now that the games are in the time periods where maces and axes were no longer commonplace and most guards used only swords, it stands to reason they wouldn't carry a bare blade at their sides.
