The developers have said "You know where we're going with this" hinting towards Modern Times with Desmond but I don't think it'll end there. I hope there are parts where you relive memories of Altair, Ezio, and hopefully more. They could do a glyph-like mission system that triggers memories of other assassins and ancestors of Desmond through the bleeding effect, like seeing an article on Robert de Sable could bring a hallucination of Altair.
