Assassin's Creed III is groundbreaking, and the fact that you can't see that shows that you are just bad at the game. Side missions are rare? Ppppphhhhhh! I am bombarded with side missions whenever I visit the cities and Frontier. I didn't look up one guide, either, so sorry to say, but you're just bad. I implore you to play the previous ones as well.
