England during the 1600's would be a great place. There was the civil war which could involve the Assassins helping to overthrow the Templar King Charles. London was also quite a brutal place during those times making it quite dark and terrifying place to be, the witch hunts were just a few years earlier and torture and gruesome public executions were common making it quite a corrupt and violent time period. it was also the days of Shakespeare, and the assassin could get to meet him, similarly to Leonardo da vinca in AC 2 and AC brotherhood.
