I'd honestly like to see them give Desmond his time to shine, but they're just not ready for that with the way gameplay is currently set up. He'd either be as ridiculously immortal as he has been so far or else he'd die in a volley of bullets trying to deal with guys wielding AK47s and M16s.

They need something intermediary like WW2 or the First Civilization conflict. WW2 has been thoroughly owned by several other series, so it's definitely got to be the First Civilization.
