Do you honestly think they would say something while they have something else planned out anyways? Desmond's story was conceived as a trilogy. Assassin's Creed III will end that trilogy, no more Desmond.

And if not for that, do you think Desmond can have a whole game about him. His story is already up to October 2012. December 21, 2012 is drawing very near. He doesn't have the time to walk free-roam in big cities while he has to save the world. The Templars also control nearly every corporation in the world, and there are barely any other Assassins; he would get caught very easily if he were to go anywhere that isn't off-the-grid. It couldn't work.
