Actually I'm from Australia too and we DID have something to do with the Cold War. We entered the Vietnam War at the behest of America (the first EVER time in Australian history where we went to war without the support of the British) and our government also tried the ban the Communist Party on the grounds that they felt Communists attempt to unlawfully subvert the legitimate government. This ban was deemed unconstitutional however and was overturned by the High Court.
