I think that the assassins believe in a good communism. This is when the leader is not corrupt, for example Tito. But the Templars are capitalists and use corrupt communism, like Stalin, for their gain. Communism can be beneficial when you have a good leader and it empowers the people. But the Templars would hate this. In North America the leaders try to make communism seem like the end of the world. In the Ac universe the templars basically are in control of the west.
