I think Mao could be Templar, but not Maoism itself.

Mao was close with Stalin, and with Stalin dead. he clashed with Soviet Union who led by Khruschev. even resulted Sino-Soviet Border Conflict. after this time. US Government made contact with Mao. as you know Ping-Pong diplomacy. and you know, Cultural Revolution. it proves Mao could not be Assassins, or collaboraters. and Maoism in china, and it outer china was grown significally different. Maoism outer china belief in image, not fact. Assassins might be supported Maoists on their image. but as I thought, they wouldn't even know who Mao was.

Simmilary, Mohammad Rezā Shāh Pahlavi is Templar on Assassin's Creed Universe. he kicked off by peoples. but it cannot prove Ruhollah Khomeini is Assassin. And also. Ex-President George W Bush and his fellow NeoCons are Templars. it cannot prove Osama and Talibans are Assassins.(but who knows? except Ubisoft.)
