Very nice and well thought out blog. I would disagree on one point however:

People want to be free. They inherently want the ability to chose their own fate. If you proposed the situation where someone would have every aspect of their lives(and in the case of the apple, their minds) controlled, but live in peace, or have free will and live with the consequences, I believe that most would choose free will. I know I sure would.

Both factions are indeed hoping to create a peaceful society, but in this case, the ends don't neccesarily justify the means. And, the ends don't sound that great either!
