The Templars aim to guide humanity to betterment, without their knowledge, even if they have to kill and manipulate a few people along the way. As it stands, Abstergo have incorporated various scientific breakthroughs via themselves, but as Erudito shows in hacked versions of their product advertisements, they're not very ethical about it.
