I went again through the GI article that I mentioned before, and I don't think there will be groups anymore. They said that they have been eliminated alltohether. You will still be able to use people to do things, but not like before.

They were however talking about some form of "clubs" - ex. if Connor does a lot of hunting, he will be aproached by some guy and asked to join their hunting club, since he's so good with the bow. There may also be - I don't know - rock climbing, exploring, canoe sailing clubs and so on... It is supposed to reward each players playstyle.
