The grand temple is underground so he will have to find it through caves or some such. What I believe will happen is that Connor/Desmond will discover that the grand temple was used by human civilization (after the disaster) as one of the shelters for humanity because it was so safe. At least the outer part of the grand temple. I know the video at the end of ACR showed major catastrophy there but underground would be the only way mankind could have survived considering the scale of the disaster and the length of time it would take the surface to heal.

I also feel that the Native Americans will play an important role in its discovery.
